Actually, Katara and Sakka are not black. They are Eskimos. I think personally that they screwed up anng too. I mean a cross on his back? I was really angry wen they made Zuko an indian. I think they should have made anng and everyone asian, except katara and sakka and the water tribe (Eskimos) if they cant find eskimos, then they should use native american actors, philipino actors, or indian actors for katara and sakka

Great post. this is Hollywood/ Bollywood doing their usual racist practices. See the Movie "Hollywood Shuffle" to perfectly illustrate this. I will not see this movie.

As far as the East Indian director Shamy or his kids; India is a messed up Country. They practice a racist Caste system based on what is called Varna or skin pigmentation (color). In other words they East Indians worship "whiteness".

I actually went and looked at the casting for the first time while I was waiting for this video to load... Fuck, that's almost as bad as DBZ.... I've never been a big fan of MNight, but this is a new low for him.

Avatar is my guilty pleasure. But pretty much everyone who watches it likes it, I think... My chemistry teacher sure did; he actually spent half the class ranting about the same thing at one point.

I really don't see the problem with the cast. Dev Patel is a great actor. None of the characters are "supposed" to be asian or whatever as the nations in Avatar are fictional. The creators of Avatar took references from multiple nations to create one so what does it matter. You can't pinpoint just one reference in each nation.

None of the characters are "asian" or any real race. They do reference many nations such as but not limited to Inuit, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese but it is a fictional realm so whoever is best for the part should play the character. I'm not going to complain until after I see the film. If you have that much of a problem with it..send a letter to M. Night Shyamalan.

If you are going to make a movie based of a show or book. you should atleast be accurate and convey the characters the way they are supposed to be. and there is a reference to the nationalites of the characters. "Toph Bei Fong' I believe is chinese. the fire nations culture is undoubtly chinese along with the people.

the water tribe is dark skinned. therefore should be potrayed as that in the movie. I don't care much about the person playing and as it is accurate. but you can't tell me that if they had some person playing Aang that was an adult and had a full head of hair, with jeans and a t-shirt it wouldn't matter.
