  • yes it is

  • I think that is not all

  • Iofur: IS THAT ALL?

    Miranda Priestly: That's all...

  • Iorek's "yes, that is all." makes me want to hug him for some reason.

  • That's why he shoulda finished him off, instead of taunting him. But Iorek knocking his jaw off, was a real jaw-dropper. :-P

  • @pinkdragon250 That is exactly the point, actually - Iofur Raknison had become overconfident and could be tricked, as bears normally could not be tricked.

  • @Jachra i know... stupid bear ....

  • Thumbs up if you think this is an epic bitch slap!

  • yeah, that is all. now, go get the rest of your face.

  • Wasen't there supposed to be a second movie? D:

  • Wow.. Gandalf as an ice bear :D

  • Hum... Owned Iofur? :-)

  • that looks soo painful!!! o_O. having ur whole jaw ripped off clean. i think he learned never to get in a pissed offed bears face.

  • Take that! BITCH! >:CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

  • Iorek totally bitch-slapped him xD

  • HELL YES THAT IS ALL!!!!!!!!

  • Wow... I'm so high. And that is about the most epic thing I have ever seen... :o

  • but.. :O if the bear losed hes jaw, how is he suposed to eat??? huh

    xD

  • This was the best scene in the whole movie i think. The book is so much better than the movie...

  • Is that aaaaall?!!

  • I didn't like the movie, but I love the books.. The movie kinda didn't really capture the atmosphere, but the bear fight was lookin' good. Though I hate how they animated Iorek crushing IOFUR's (yes, Iofur, not fucking Ragnar) jaw - because he was just sticking up like an idiot and suddenly his jaw just flew to hell by Iorek?!?! That shoulda been a MUCH more dramatic view. And the music at this scene sucked. Not epic, not.

  • O_O that was so amazing!!!

  • fucking epic, one of my favourite fight scenes and i dont even really like this film

  • ioerk is a good friend to lyra

  • These books, and the Lord of the Rings, are the only stories in which I DON'T root for the bad guys...

I want Voldemort to kill Harry, and I want the Empeor to fry Luke... but you can't stand for the Magesterium, nor against Lyra Silvertongue.

And especially not Iroek Byrnison. :)

  • "IS THAT ALL, HAH?!?!"

  • Why did you say "The Golden Compass/Northern Lights"?

The books are: The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass.

The Aurora Borealis is indeed the junction between worlds in these tales, but it's not the title of any of the books...

The books are great, everyone should read them. They take the 3rd tier on my shelf of holiness: Right after LOTR, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, and Harry Potter.

  • @DarthZimmeris "The Northern Lights" is the original title of the first book, and the one used in the UK. "The Golden Compass" is the title used in the U.S.

  • @TsubuteInRed Hey, you learn something new everyday! Thanks.

I wish they wouldn't do that, and just leave the titles alone. It gets confusing, sometimes...

Are there any differences in the prose of the two?

  • @DarthZimmeris Not that I know of...but it's a great series in any light. Have you read all three books?

  • @TsubuteInRed Oh yes, I finished my first complete reading about two weeks ago, and am now halfway through "The Subtle Knife", for my second round... only the best get the immediate, second-run. Harry Potter, of course, and I read Tolkien all the time. I have the U.S. editions, so I don't know about the British originals, either.

It's an EXCELLENT story. One of the best ever, imo.

  • aweksome

see i cant even type right

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!

  • NO MORE JAWS!!!!

  • how many books are there i need to read it : /

  • There are three books in the His Dark Materials series. The rest of the books (i.e. Lyra's Oxford) are just side stories.

  • @7419026

    3 books

  • Jesus. What is this movie rated again?

  • 2daD3ath: Jesus. What is this movie rated again?

    there's no blood.you didnt see a thing.

  • @2daD3ath PG-13. You know, for kids!

  • @2daD3ath PG-13 for sequances of fantasy violence

  • @2daD3ath E for Everyone.

  • I love how this scene is badass, whether it's in the book or the movie.

  • chills, I love his Lorek. Wish he was here. ??!! haha

  • The Golden Compass sequel canned // Current

Washington , Jul 19 : Its confirmed now a sequel to the fantasy film The Golden Compass will not be made, due to constant protests from the Catholic Church ....

  • Fucking catholics :( they're not making themselves look any better. Now WE need the Compass...

  • well it's more the catholic church's representatives -not the people- who protested-

you do have to make a difference there.-

  • So it's not the people, but the people who represent the people?

    Gotcha.

  • well, it makes sense.

after all, the story IS an attack on organized religion.

not that I agree with the people censoring it, though. whatever happened to liberty of expression? you can't make a comment on how you don't like the way the church runs things, because they won't let you say it. -_- fail.

  • Liberty of expression is a political idea. The Church is too international to care about that.

  • I know i read the book it rox

  • YES THAT IS ALLL!!! best comeback EVAAA!!!!!!! i llove this series

  • In the book, Iorek was faking his injury. He was able to fool King Iofur, because he (Iofur) wanted to be like a human. When Iofur let his guard down, Iorek slashed off his jaw, bit his neck, and ate King Iofur's heart (the movie leaves this part out). So, it wasn't really a comeback, more like deceit.

  • Best part of the movie. I hated how chopped up the movie was.

  • The scene was pretty good but I hated how they totally crapped out on the movie, it didn't even have an ending! We can only hope that they won't be so afraid of "offending people" in the next two.

  • LOL ownnnnnnnnnnd!!!!!!!!!!!

    pause at 0:15 XD

  • i havent read the book but i thought the movie was cool especially the last bit where he rips his jaw off heard its nowhere near as gory in the book

  • "It was a hoorifying blow. It tore the lower part of his jaw clean off, so that it flew through the air scattering blood drops in the snow many yards away.

Iofur's red tongue lolled down, dripping over his open throat. The bear-king was suddenly voiceless, biteless, helpless. Iorek needed nothing more. He lunged, and then his teeth were in Iofur's throat, and he shook and shook this way, that way, lifting the huge body off the ground...

  • ...and battering it down as if Iofur were no more than a seal at the water's edge. Then he ripped upward, and Iofur Raknison's life came away in his teeth.

  • There was one ritual yet to perform. Iorek sliced open the dead king's unprotected chest, peeling the fur back to expose the narrow white and red ribs like the timbers of an upturned boat. Into the ribb cage Iorek reached, and he plucked out Iofur's heart, red and steaming, and ate it there in front of Iofur's subjects."

~Philip Pullman, Northern Lights/The Golden Compass

  • wow. I really want too read the series now ! :D

  • @Gothicaleigh

    HARD

    CORE

    I always loved that book.

  • @godzillaisnuclea123 does it sound as gory naow dumb ass? books r always 10x better than movies..IT ACTUALLY HELPS UR MIND!

  • too bad they sugar coat the book ...make it r rated...that scene was a bloodbath in the novel..

  • Don't you mean they sugarcoat the movie? The book had Iorek eat Iofur's heart afterwards. The movie, on the other hand, omitted that scene.

  • @SleepyShippo They also cut off the movie well before the actual ending of the book. It changes the entire point of the story, but they did it anyway. And that, as they say, is FAIL.

  • iorek has the sickest voice i have ever heard lol

  • Hmm...Iofur is annoying in the movie, book ftw :P

  • That was a dirty, a hot, and a cold slap all in one lol The kind that makes you forget who you are, where you are, and that you are, in fact, now missing your jaw

  • LOL I laughed when I first saw it too. This is my favorite scene in the whole movie.

  • i fucking love this scene makes me laugh :D

  • This gives "slapping the taste out of someone's mouth" a whole new meaning. LOL

As for gore factor, the book takes it a step further-- Iorek slices open Iofur's chest and eats his heart, literally.

  • for real?

  • Thats gonna bruise in the morning...

  • amazing quality

  • What a slap.

  • great quality =D

    thank u for this

  • It wasn't the knocking off of the lower jaw that was cool, it was when he BIT the mouth afterwards!

  • love the bear! But MY! I did never know his name and oh the bear has my name!! HAhahaha. *stands up* WHO's your king??? hahaha MEEE jk. ^^
