  • we sang this in amsterdam concerthall!

  • @dsyglym Excellent. It's an exciting piece.

  • Una mañana, me cepillé mi cabello y puse de música de fondo toda Carmina Burana.

  • I'm glad that we are going to sing this for our chorus concert in the High-School :D

  • Great

  • This is a recommended song for playing Call of Duty.

  • i really love this song!!! :D

  • Well, talking of war and marching parts of O Fortuna were used in the 1981 John Boorman version of Excalibur; excellent background to knights riding out :)

  • ;A; The trumpet player makes me jealous of his/her's amazing skills.

  • @kobrulz - what do you play? just curious, as i'm playing oboe in an orchestra doing cb at the minute, we do this movement at about the same speed in the piu mosso part (a little faster elsewhere) and it is KILLING ME. ungodly is the word...

  • The trumpet is awesome

  • If my life could have a theme song this would be it. That, or Tchaikovsky's Slavonic Marche.

  • @erronae Hmm, I can't tell if that's a good or bad thing. ;-) Either way, you're life must be VERY dramatic.

  • @erronae You realise that this song is was a poem written by a medieval fratboy about gambling and drinking, right?

  • This song would be like, ungodly epic in a movie or show as like, a war march song.

  • @nocandy4u2 "Ungodly epic." Very nice.

  • @darkprose Quite literally - The Carmina Burana is in many senses epic, and it's secular. An ungodly epic.

  • @nocandy4u2 Carmina Burana isn't about war, its about love. Stupid Americans can only think on war.

  • @Enysvar Well, this part of the Carmina Burana (the first section, first two movements), is about fortune and how it rules the world. Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi, Fortune Empress of the World.

This song's title translate into "I Lament the Wounds Fortune Deals." which clearly is not about love.

  • @nocandy4u2 It's not about war either, to be fair.

Brilliant piece either way. The initial mens' section makes me think of a foggy morning in medieval England.

  • @MegaJohnny Yeah, technically its about fortune, but fortune can be applied to just about everything, so in a way, everyone is right XD

  • @nocandy4u2 funny that you think that fortuna plango vulnera would make a good war march song, because carmina burana actualy describes the horrors of war

  • @psychoaiko666 Most of the songs I've heard describe the spring and love and are yes, quite relaxing.

but these songs though, the first two, Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi, are just about how much of an ass fortune can be. And really, fortune can be applied to just about anything :P

  • @nocandy4u2 You are right, the first part of CB is about the spring and its beauty, the second part is just about drinking, sumptuous feast, and the third part is actually about love (short said, because there are many small pieces, with a bit different contents). And all this is "surrounded" by the great choir "Fortuna imperatrix mundi" and wehn you translate it, it means fortune rules the world... And Fortuna isn`t interested in the faith of one single man, and she only keeps her wheel turning

  • Kill em all-Vinnie paz. Check it out.

  • Absolutely beautiful!

  • Trumpets in faster parts too staccato compared to other recordings.

  • Thank you, i never had heard this parts

  • rush faster at the rushy parts!

  • @afareni hahahaha! You're genius!! :D

  • I feel like the choir is rushing faster than the orchestra, although I agree that the whole piece is slower than it should be. I've heard better than this. :p

  • I so want the intro to this played at my funeral as they carry the coffin in :L

  • I am not very keen on classical music but I admit that this is a masterpiece.....I bet my music teacher would give me an 20/20 if I told her I like this XD Amazing creation by Carl Orff

  • @PhOeNiXfOrCe3000 This is not classic music, its from the 20th century

  • @alontan i believe it's not the question of age

  • @alontan Orff was a Neoclassical author

  • This would be perfect.... except, what the hell is up with that snare during the crescendo? It's competing with the trumpet.

And then, when they finally reach the double forte part, the percussion just friggin' erupts and ruins the whole damn thing.

If you listen closely, they even LOSE TEMPO from 1:42 to 1:49! What the heck? Aren't they supposed to be professional?

  • ponts one and two...thats how orff wrote it sadly.

as for the third, even the original recordings of this hellish bit of music have major flaws, for instance in In Taberna Quando Sumus the whole band wil nearly always lose the tempo and have problems with the off beats in the a tempo section after the bit where it slows down for about 15 seconds.

All in all this is a very hard selection to play, mostly because of the strange uses of tempo change and mixed meter. Even professionals mess up!

  • Stupenda !

  • amazing... THE BEST LA MIGLIORE

  • I don't thinK so...*sorry

  • too slow?I don't thinks so.....we performed it just like this....

    this version is perfect:D

    love it

  • In my opinion this version is too slow...we performed it faster

  • i agree.. I like a faster version, there was one version on Youtube that was the best IMHO but it got taken down =/

  • gives you a bit of time to drink in the notes of the piece, but different strokes....

  • @kobrulz I agree, much prefer the 1959 Leopold Stokowski issue...

  • Who's "we?"

    Who'd you perform this with?

  • @tetrisclock HAHA I FEEL YOU

  • I agree. We also perfom it faster
