if u watch cerdic in the fight against tristan u can watch he puls a knife so when tristan defends of the atacks of cerdic sword cerdic would attack him whith the knife... ad before tristran is killed u can see the knife stabed in his arm.

If history states that king arthur was around the 5th century, that puts him nearly 700 or so years before the mongols even invaded europe...having said that, the mongols did not reach britian or western europe in general...they fought the poles, russians,germans but had no contact whatsoeva with brittania or those regions.....im not sure why im arguing here......i guess the character of tristan was cool.....european soldiers in general were not known for chilvary like the arabs or muslims

His sword is similar a dao, the sarmatians wandered westwards over the eurasian steppe extending from China to Hungarian Plain, as well might be a oriental sword.
Haha i though his sword was a Katana xD but then i gave it another look. His armor in the final fight looks like samurai armor though. I think Hun would be a good guess haha
how funny is it also, when there in the bar and there throwing knifes at the chair and tristan throws his knife like into the other guys knife handle, there like how you do that hes like" I aim for the middle" lol
It always felt to me like Tristan was from some other far cooler universe than the others, and was just tagging along for the ride. Like the rest were kids and he's a grown-up, lol.
My favourite Knight from the film. His fighting style is so graceful almost as if its a dance and the way he fought right until the end was just great, even the Saxon at the End recognised him as an honourable opponent and kicked his sword back to him...
In the theatrical version Tristan looked weaker. because in the DVD extended, Tristan wounded the leader. but was defeated, because of a hidden knife, on both his arms. during his defensive advance. in hindsight, he made it possible for Arthur to win. Tristan is indeed the better knight compared to Arthur. he is on par with Lancelot. btw excellent vid!

I have watched the movie. About one thousand seven hundred times. =O Give or take a couple. I love that movie. Tristan is my favorite one. Naturally. I still believe Arthur was a better fighter, though. Which would explain why he was the leader.
Tristan made that film work for me. I still think he could take Arthur, because even though Artorious won against the saxon, was it not Tristan who wounded him? besides if they continued to fight fairly. Tris would of won. saxon knew this, because they were on par in styles. but obviously knew he was in trouble, hence the need to resort to using a hidden blade, a leader is a leader. a swordsman is a swordsman, Arthur was the leader because of his roman background and diplomatic skills.
Nah, Tristan had no chance. He didn't respect the first rule of medieval movies : the good leader takes on the evil leader, any other matchup leads to death of the lower character.
Seriously though, they were not on par. Even before the dagger strike, he was losing ground.
I, too, liked Tristan more than the other knights, but I was fully aware, the first time I saw it, that he was running to his death when he faced the saxon leader. But it fitted with the arrogance of the character.
Tristan was great, yes. Arthur would dominate him in a fight, though. Tristan did wound him, yes. Fight fairly? Fair does not exist. All that exist in a battle is the kill. The protection of your life. A hidden blade is not cheating. Perhaps Tristan should have become accustomed to that battle tactic, yes?
I still prefer Tristan, but Arthur wasn't better. he was good, but he didn't have that blood lust like Tristan did. diplomacy has no place on a battlefield.
Setting his bird free before the big battle, removing his hat/helmet before he fought him showed that he was aware that he would die.
That being said, the main point of him getting killed was to weaken him so Arthur COULD kill him.
Another thing I would like to add.
Tristan received more wounds/cuts than Arthur during his fight with the Saxon leader, including his dagger through his arm. Yet he still made another move after that.
Love this video! I could watch it over and over! Much easier than trying to watch all the great Tristan clips from the whole movie! Thanks for putting this together for all the Tristan/Mads fan out there!
Tristan, Lancelot, and Dagonet were the best and they all died! It was sad when they died and it was even more sad when that Saxon killed Tristan with his own sword :'(
Tristan is my favorite character in this movie and I have seen this movie over 20 times no lie. He is the best archer out of them all and has the best balance in this sword fighting, he is also there best scout. How many bests is he? Every one if you ask me. He went into battle with the leader Saxson knowing he was going to die just so when Arthur fought him he would not lose. He as the most honor for Arthur giving his life for Arthur's. Tristan just is Epic win.
true cuz if u noticed tristan injured the saxon so he wasnt full force against arthur cuz of that leg wound. also tristan had to fight against sword and a knife whereas arthur only had to deal with a sword. tristan may hav had better luck if someone else had stabbed the saxon in the leg before his fight with him too
I hated to see him die, but the character had to be killed off-- there wouldn't have been a place in Arthur's peaceful (or /less/ war-stricken) kingdom for a bloodthirsty warrior like Tristram. The moment he cast off his helmet it was clear he'd entered that fight to die a noble death on the battlefield-- the kind of death he speaks of as an ideal in Frank Thompson's novelisation of this version of the story.
Interesting - do you think he knows he's going to die or, like Cerdic, he has found a man worth killing? Met his match perhaps? Brilliantly portrayed, Tristan's character has stolen the entire movie in my opinion...perhaps thats why they killed him off!!
Met his match I think is a yes-- he wanted an honourable death and he found it, went down fighting but probably gladly. Another hint that he doesn't plan on coming out of this battle is the fact that he gives his hawk 'freedom' beforehand. Haha, I agree-- he nabbed every scene he was in.
Love this vid, such a great tribute to such a great character. His sword form is brilliant, a block and a strike, simply beautiful to watch. He should never have died. That damn Saxon cheated! Anyway, thanks for making =D

The reason I say this is because Tristan was killed by that guy and Arthur killed the guy that killed Tristan.

True story.. But..
Setting his bird free before the big battle, removing his hat/helmet before he fought him showed that he was aware that he would die.
That being said, the main point of him getting killed was to weaken him so Arthur COULD kill him.
Another thing I would like to add.
Tristan received more wounds/cuts than Arthur during his fight with the Saxon leader, including his dagger through his arm. Yet he still made another move after that.
I'd say Tristan was fairly tough.

Tristan is my favorite character in this movie and I have seen this movie over 20 times no lie. He is the best archer out of them all and has the best balance in this sword fighting, he is also there best scout. How many bests is he? Every one if you ask me. He went into battle with the leader Saxson knowing he was going to die just so when Arthur fought him he would not lose. He as the most honor for Arthur giving his life for Arthur's. Tristan just is Epic win.

true cuz if u noticed tristan injured the saxon so he wasnt full force against arthur cuz of that leg wound. also tristan had to fight against sword and a knife whereas arthur only had to deal with a sword. tristan may hav had better luck if someone else had stabbed the saxon in the leg before his fight with him too

I hated to see him die, but the character had to be killed off-- there wouldn't have been a place in Arthur's peaceful (or /less/ war-stricken) kingdom for a bloodthirsty warrior like Tristram. The moment he cast off his helmet it was clear he'd entered that fight to die a noble death on the battlefield-- the kind of death he speaks of as an ideal in Frank Thompson's novelisation of this version of the story.

Interesting - do you think he knows he's going to die or, like Cerdic, he has found a man worth killing? Met his match perhaps? Brilliantly portrayed, Tristan's character has stolen the entire movie in my opinion...perhaps thats why they killed him off!!

Met his match I think is a yes-- he wanted an honourable death and he found it, went down fighting but probably gladly. Another hint that he doesn't plan on coming out of this battle is the fact that he gives his hawk 'freedom' beforehand. Haha, I agree-- he nabbed every scene he was in.
