I've been fortunate enough to see Jeff Bates live twice at a little club in King, NC. He's a very down to earth person. I think the thing I respect most is the fact that he doesn't try to deny or cover his past. He's very direct and honest about the road he's traveled and I believe he tells his story to impact others that are on the same path. I truly believe that he is a changed man through the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
words that were perfectly stated @08AllTerrain.. you are absolutely right about Jesus, with all the religion in the world today and still the same outcome of centuries ago...
My daughter (Jaclyn Creel) just placed this song on my computer. This relates so much to kids today. She let me meet Jeff when she sang at one of his concerts. He is a great guy with a great future. This song should be played in schools and churches.
My daughter (Jaclyn Creel) was able to sing on stage at one of his concerts. I had a chance to meet him and she just put this song on my computer. He is a true talent that kids should look up to. I know his future is bright.
this man went to my nephews school and told his story and sang several songs for him, and we were hangin out and and he asked me if i had ever heard of jeff bates.of course i said no. we put the cd in and he made me listen to this song. this is my number 1 favorite song right now. the last 3 days ive listened to this video prolly 100 times.jeff bates is an amazing man to be able to go through what he did and come out sober.this man should be commended on his struggles and success.damn good job.
@illusionz1988 You need to meet Jeff and talk with him you will find he is a wonderful person and I thank God I met him. We have prayed together and watched God miracles happen.
Every time I hear his voice I thank the good Lord I was able to met such a wonderful man.
@illusionz1988 Jeff is a wonderful person his music and him personally you couldn't ask for a better human being he doesn't pretend to be something he isn't and he is so down to earth.
not only that but the way i see it is this is a story based on how jesus lived his life. because when you listen to it, it has all the things jesus went through. and how jesus really did die because he wasn't like everyone else. and we still persecute people today because they aren't like us. but the main way i see this song being like jesus's live is because the 2nd verse. because jesus took in and helped the theives and drug addicts and helped them get on the path to the kingdom of heaven.
@matman163 I agree, and then you move to the last verse where it talks about how they beat him and all and mocked him and nailed him to the cross, that's EXACTLY what Jesus did for us. How amazing is His love for us despite the fact that it was our sins that put him there!
@08AllTerrain ur missin the whole point. its not actually talkin about kids. its talking about how our ancestors treated Jesus all because he was different and wanted peace among all men and wanted all of us to get into heaven, yet we persecuted him for it. For loving everyone they murdered him. Yet I promise you if it were to happen again, the same thing would happen. All these years, so many religious people, it would still happen because he wouldn't fit the "mold" they believe Jesus
@illusionz1988 they didn't miss the point. It is true that kids are pushed around and bullied in highschool, middle school, and even in college. It stands for both stories: Jesus Christ and those kids. How special it is that those kids have a Friend Who understands their pain and accepts them and loves them. They can identify with Him in a way others can't.
OMG! It was beautiful!
