I am applying to hopefully live and work here! That is where my mother is from and some of her sisters still live there. I also want to see the hanok village real bad, because I absolutely LOVE antique things <3
He stirred bibimbap with chopstick to preserve the rice from getting smooshed by spoon. It is the way they do it in the birth place of bibimbap. Learn it!
@jnh2102 it's because japanese eat rice with chopsticks (so does China) and a lot of foreigners think it's customary to do that after eating in a lot of chinese and japanese restaurants back in their own country.
Hey qiranger. I never got the time to tell you this, but my life has been incredibly stressfull over the past couple years. These videos have really gotten me through tough times. Just your positive attitude on life, your love for adventure. You've taught me alot about how to approach life. Seriously, thank you.
Another awesome video Qiranger! Those places looked so beautiful and the food and environment looked great. Best of all we learn about Jeonju. Thanks for uploading. I enjoyed this to the fullest. ^_^
I am wondering who killed those people who moved away from Confucianism to Catholicism. Since those who follow Confucius have such humanistic principles, I am puzzled. Would such a peaceful people go against their philosophy in order to murder an apostate? I may not be understanding Confucianism.....
@8journey8 The neo-Confucianism in the Chosun Dynasty was the state ideology but also had a semi-religious role through its ancestor worship. Koreans first came across Catholicism in earnest when Korean envoys and merchants visiting China were exposed to Catholic missionaries (Jesuits) and brought the new religion back to Korea. Christian belief rejected the ancestor worship which was tantamount to rejecting the entire Chosun socio-political order, leading to massacres of first Christians.
@ajussiwannabe it's pretty sad really and a lot of christians in Korea still don't bow down in their ancestor's grave to this day because of this misunderstanding. In the bible, bowing is a form of Idolatory, worshiping a being that you consider God. In Korea bowing is for respect. You don't consider your deceased parents as God or anything. it's a cultural misunderstanding that has brought total hatred and massacre...
I've been in Jeonju at August, is nice to see you there. Jeonju is actually one of my favorite cities in Korea, it seems so peaceful! I stayed in a lovley hostel and i met so many koreans, was lot of fun! and they really have good food there!
@greglam As noted below Cheongju is a different place. I didn't see your comment correctly this morning. I thought you wrote Cheonju rather than Cheongju.

Thanks and Cheers!
