As a Canadian, what I find appealing about the Scottish parliament is that it provides for a smaller, more community oriented politics and a constructive, meaningful dialogue. Wouldn't it be nice if Scottish politics was uniquely respectful instead of the usual name-calling?

@borjon23 That's purely because of the limited remit of powers accorded to the Scottish Parliament by the British Parliament (where the name calling, boorishness, nepotism and corruption is significantly worse than in the Scottish Parliament).

Unfortunately it is a bad thing when the horizon is lowered, as so are the ambitions of the legislators. We already have smaller community focused "parliaments" in Scotland - called unitary authorities which deal with community and local politics.
