OK I'm playing the bias card on this one because Mania X-8 was my first WM and to me it was special. But I do understand why a lot of ppl crap all over it.
I am glad that you look at the positive sides of the spectrum T Slayer. There have been worse WM events. Some have been mediocre like 16 to atrocious like 11 and 9. Trust me this was far from the worst. Also the WWE stars can not do as much in the ring, as they were allowed to in 16, and many can argue that this was nevertheless better despite roster differences.
I thought the match was good. I think the problem is that people just crap on the match because of who won and not because of the match itself, which is sad. Truthfully, I don't really have a problem with Punk, since they dropped the ball with him the last time he won. Sure he was the champ, but he was booked pretty weak when he had the World Heavyweight Title.

Sorry but one match could not save a shitty ppv. Now i've been watching wrestling since 94' and haven't fully enjoyed a Mania since 19 so can me hard to please but the Divas match was pointless, Jericho fighting the senior center was bad including Mickey two foot WHIFF!!, Rey/JBL=Pointless, They didn't show the tag match which was actually really good, and the main event was horrible. So I can't say that the last 10-15 minutes of a taker/HBK match makes it a okay ppv when I wasn't entertained.
You put 12 and 6 in the top 5 of all-time, and I'm saying they're both one match shows. 25 is as well, but fortunately, that one match was incredible.
i saw WM XXV the day after cuz i cudnt be bothered paying for it and i was really impressed - im the first to jump in and criticise but it was god damn refreshing for the most part.
my main complaint was that i was exhausted after HBK and Taker and with two main events to go, (the crowd and) i couldnt find the energy to mark out. also it was clear that the main event ending was an absolute abhorration but that didnt ruin the nights wrestling, luckily.
I thought wrestlemania 25 was very good. and these moaning idiots who says this was the worst ever, get your facts straight. I will admit I have never seen every mania but the worst wrestlemania I have seen is either 14 15 16 18 or 23, wrestlemania17 and 19 were the best ones I have seen, 22 24 and 25 were very good. the amazing thing is 3 mania's I have listed were the attitude era wrestlemania's.
XIV = The media hype surrounding the ME was unbelievable & it was probably the first Mania since the Hogan Era that felt like it was can't miss. Taker/Kane was great too & the undercard was very entertaining.
X-Seven = Everyone's favorite. Just a big time atmosphere & alot of great action.
XIX = How many main events did this show have? It was a great mix of the modern talent & the old established talent. It was great to have Michaels, Austin, & Hogan get great Mania moments again.

I've ordered every Wrestlemania since 11, and managed to catch most of the ones before that but Wrestlemania 25 really left a bad taste in my mouth. Its in the 'bottom' half in my opinion, but hey people loved it, peopled hated it.

Actually, I'd say WM 20 was pretty bad. Other than Rock N' Sock Connection vs Evolution, Eddie vs Kurt and the triple threat WHC match, Triple H vs HBK vs youknowho (shouldn't say his name) and the return of the Undertaker as the Dead Man (even though the match itself sucked), WM 20 pretty much sucked. WM 22 had some good/great matches and some bad ones-MitB, HBK vs. Vince, Edge vs. Foley, Cena vs HHH, and Mickey vs. Trish were good, the rest sucked.
Except MITB was one of the best yet... the Hardys was quite good.. even the Triple Threat match delivered well. Nothing else GREAT but some good for sure.
Sorry, I tried to like the show but I didn't. These matches were boring. And I think they can do much better. But if you liked it, then that's really what matters. ;)
I'm SO GLAD that I'm not the only one who thinks HBK/Angle is over-rated, though you probably think it's less over-rated than I do.
About the only person I can think of who hated Taker/Michaels just hates the concept of repeated near-falls in matches (so you can imagine what she thinks of Dragon Gate). But yeah; two big names chucking bombs at each other in front of a hot crowd; what more do you want?
To me a 5 star match is a flawless match, crowd has to be into it from start to finish, camera angles should be perfect, commentary should be at it's best and the wrestlers in the ring should be telling a great story that should be remembered for years to come and has atleast 2 moments for everyone to remember(e.g. Owen vs Bret WM X, Flair vs HBK WM 24)
So Owen vs Bret wasn't flawless? What about Flair vs HBK? Granted there were botches but the camera angles were so good that you couldn't notice them, and the story in both matches kept me on the edge of my seat and i can still watch em and mark out like an MF'er. Those are 5 star matches.

The first Wrestlemania I watched was 18 and have seen it the seven years following each year. I also watched 17 because it was praised. IMO, this was the worst Wrestlemania from 17-25. I have a bias opinion though, because like I said, 18 was the first I'd watched.
Just because there have been alot of bad mania's it's still not a good excuse for this mania to stink. I mean the card was so weak. If they replaced JBL/Rey with Bourne/Swagger(gave them time), switched the divas battle royal with the tag title unification match and booked HBK/taker as the final match guarantee you the crowd would've been alive the whole show and would've went home happy.
It's not an excuse it's a statement to counter the claims that this was the worst Mania of all time, or even one of the worst Mania's. It's a comparative statement that makes the note that if x is worse than y then how can y be worse than all - mathematically speaking, x<y =/= y<ALL.

You can't compare Rock/Hogan to HHH/Orton. You can compare Rock/Hogan to HBK/Taker and Y2J/HHH to HHH/Orton. You need to remember the crowd reaction, position on the card, build, etc.

Apparently some people don't know what ring psychology is. That is why HBK/Undertaker was 5 stars. The build up was very lack luster, but the match over delivered (the inverse of the HHH/Orton feud).
There are worse endings to Wrestlemania than the one at WM25.
And for everyone complaining about predictability, it is your faults that CM Punk won the MITB and HHH retained. Who cares if Christian and Orton winning is predictable? That's what I wanted to see!

The crowd helped make it awesome, and there were even some spots that made you think "Holy shit! Maybe this match isn't going to be as predictable as I thought." Some spots, I thought Shawn was going to get the win. This match was that intense. It told a story people! I'm favoriting this vid!

I didn't watch Wrestlemania live on PPV. I had to work. After that, I watched some youtube reviews, and I was glad I didn't pay $55 for the event. I watched it the next day online, and I must say: these guys are WAY to critical. I've been a fan since the 80's and I never quit watching, and Wrestlemania 25 was great. People need to quit being so bitter.

I've hear the complaint that Taker vs Michaels was slow, which to me is laughable. It was an awesome match as both men did their signature moves and went balls to the wall. WM 25 was underwhelming but not the worst WrestleMania. I felt a bit cheated when they pulled the tag match off the ppv card. All in favor of a Kid Rock performance that gutted the Divas Battle Royal and took away the main selling point of the match. Santino's bit didn't help matters for me as to me it came off as corny and childish. MITB was good, but it wasn't the cleanest but i have no beef there. Everything else was pretty good to spectacular up until the main event which i agree w/ u on
And I also would've liked to see Rey vs JBL be an actual match but then again I was a fan of the Rey vs Kane feud because of the beating Rey would take just to come back and win. For that, I would've been entertained cus a part of me is a fan of the bruiser style that JBL uses and I thought the contrast to Rey would make for a great match betwen the two.
But overall it wasn't the worst WrestleMania, just a bit underwhelming for me.
The whole Santino thing was corny and childish, but what I feel hurt it was the announcers trying to play it off as if they weren't in on the gag like the rest of us. They tried to sell it as if this wasn't Santino and that's just down right insulting to us fans. The only saving grace to that was Santino's theatrics and celebration, which we all have to admit was quality fun.
here's the thing i don't like about the Divas' Battle Royal: since nobody took it seriously so the bookers didn't take it seriously as well and made Santino win. whatever the result will be, smarks would still have something negative to say about it anyway
Michaels v Taker was a fucking brilliant. match 5 star all the way. Its had everything a match should have. The people that gave this match 2 star can't do vids of quailty because most wrestling will of loved this match and will not trust these people options on any give subject about wrestling
It's been a long time, but I watched pretty much all of the WMs from 15 - 22. I skipped 23-24. I was at 22, and thought it was awesome. This is just my experience, but maybe you liked 25 because you were there.

Well I wasn't there and I personally don't see where the "worst Mania of all time" comes from. This wasn't a great show, but it wasn't terrible on all cylinders as there was enough good to say it was a watchable show. Would I say it's a must watch? No. But would I say that it's a show you have to avoid? No.
Wrestlemania 25 was far from being one of the worst I don't know where people are coming from saying it is in the top five worst here are the Wrestlemania's IMO worst then 25 WM 2, WM 4, WM 5, WM 7, WM 9, WM 11, WM 13, WM 15, WM 16, WM 18 & WM 21. wrestlemania 16 had a surprise ending(wrestlemania moment) and went 36 minutes, plus a mind blowing ladder match with jeff hardy jumping off the ladder for a wrestlemania moment, plus an awesome 2 out of 3 falls match with angle beniot and jericho. WM25 of not the worst the most disappointing wrestlemania of all time.
WM X6 had one good match, Angle beniot and angle was kind of eh. The 2 out of 3 falls was just boring. HHH vs Rock should of been HHH vs the Rock and had a better match on Judgement day.
Plus the Hardcore match was unbearable too much on the card way too many tag teams.

I've got to agree with this - I didn't think 'Taker vs. Michaels was predictable in the slightest. I had no idea which way it would go, as Michaels is probably one of the few guys in the company who would be allowed to break the sacred streak. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire damn match!

i saw WM XXV the day after cuz i cudnt be bothered paying for it and i was really impressed - im the first to jump in and criticise but it was god damn refreshing for the most part.
my main complaint was that i was exhausted after HBK and Taker and with two main events to go, (the crowd and) i couldnt find the energy to mark out. also it was clear that the main event ending was an absolute abhorration but that didnt ruin the nights wrestling, luckily.

I will admit I have never seen every mania but the worst wrestlemania I have seen is either 14 15 16 18 or 23, wrestlemania17 and 19 were the best ones I have seen, 22 24 and 25 were very good. the amazing thing is 3 mania's I have listed were the attitude era wrestlemania's.

III = Because of how epic it was.
V = Mega Powers Explode & it was a great display of the great talent from the 80s
VII = Just a high energy show & Liz/Randy reuniting was amazing.
X = It was in MSG, My favorite wrestler won the title, two of the greatest matches of all time took place, & it fell on my 9th B-Day. Pretty cool.

XIV = The media hype surrounding the ME was unbelievable & it was probably the first Mania since the Hogan Era that felt like it was can't miss. Taker/Kane was great too & the undercard was very entertaining.
X-Seven = Everyone's favorite. Just a big time atmosphere & alot of great action.
XIX = How many main events did this show have? It was a great mix of the modern talent & the old established talent. It was great to have Michaels, Austin, & Hogan get great Mania moments again.

I've ordered every Wrestlemania since 11, and managed to catch most of the ones before that but Wrestlemania 25 really left a bad taste in my mouth. Its in the 'bottom' half in my opinion, but hey people loved it, peopled hated it.
Who cares about star ratings, in your video "What makes a good match" its all about if you enjoy it!
Bret/Owen was unbelieveable, finally glad someone rates that above HBK/Razor.

Actually, I'd say WM 20 was pretty bad. Other than Rock N' Sock Connection vs Evolution, Eddie vs Kurt and the triple threat WHC match, Triple H vs HBK vs youknowho (shouldn't say his name) and the return of the Undertaker as the Dead Man (even though the match itself sucked), WM 20 pretty much sucked. WM 22 had some good/great matches and some bad ones-MitB, HBK vs. Vince, Edge vs. Foley, Cena vs HHH, and Mickey vs. Trish were good, the rest sucked.
BTW, I didn't get to catch WM 25.

I'm SO GLAD that I'm not the only one who thinks HBK/Angle is over-rated, though you probably think it's less over-rated than I do.
About the only person I can think of who hated Taker/Michaels just hates the concept of repeated near-falls in matches (so you can imagine what she thinks of Dragon Gate). But yeah; two big names chucking bombs at each other in front of a hot crowd; what more do you want?

To me a 5 star match is a flawless match, crowd has to be into it from start to finish, camera angles should be perfect, commentary should be at it's best and the wrestlers in the ring should be telling a great story that should be remembered for years to come and has atleast 2 moments for everyone to remember(e.g. Owen vs Bret WM X, Flair vs HBK WM 24)

So Owen vs Bret wasn't flawless? What about Flair vs HBK? Granted there were botches but the camera angles were so good that you couldn't notice them, and the story in both matches kept me on the edge of my seat and i can still watch em and mark out like an MF'er. Those are 5 star matches.

Hmmm...Sure, the opener between Rey vs Eddie that made the viewers like watching a 2005 X-division match was crap, Angle/HBK wasn't the best match in years, Orton/Taker wasn't spectacular, Batista/HHH was meh. The first Wrestlemania I watched was 18 and have seen it the seven years following each year. I also watched 17 because it was praised. IMO, this was the worst Wrestlemania from 17-25. I have a bias opinion though, because like I said, 18 was the first I'd watched.

Just because there have been alot of bad mania's it's still not a good excuse for this mania to stink. I mean the card was so weak. If they replaced JBL/Rey with Bourne/Swagger(gave them time), switched the divas battle royal with the tag title unification match and booked HBK/taker as the final match guarantee you the crowd would've been alive the whole show and would've went home happy.

It's not an excuse it's a statement to counter the claims that this was the worst Mania of all time, or even one of the worst Mania's. It's a comparative statement that makes the note that if x is worse than y then how can y be worse than all - mathematically speaking, x<y =/= y<ALL.
And like I've said before, it wasn't a horrible show but it certainly wasn't a great show either. It's somewhere stuck in the middle.

taker vs hbk is without a doubt a 5 stars match, and if u think the fact that was predictable make it bad, then u loved triple h vs orton and seeing cm punk been mitb once again instead of christian, i think taker vs hbk was the most unpredictable match of taker in mania, and i think even if hbk winned it would have been expected to be him the one to end the streak

Apparently some people don't know what ring psychology is. That is why HBK/Undertaker was 5 stars. The build up was very lack luster, but the match over delivered (the inverse of the HHH/Orton feud).
There are worse endings to Wrestlemania than the one at WM25.
And for everyone complaining about predictability, it is your faults that CM Punk won the MITB and HHH retained. Who cares if Christian and Orton winning is predictable? That's what I wanted to see!

Truthslayer's in the house! You pretty much summed up my feelings about Wrestlemania 25, especially HBK vs. Taker. That match was awesome! The crowd helped make it awesome, and there were even some spots that made you think "Holy shit! Maybe this match isn't going to be as predictable as I thought." Some spots, I thought Shawn was going to get the win. This match was that intense. It told a story people! I'm favoriting this vid!

I didn't watch Wrestlemania live on PPV. I had to work. After that, I watched some youtube reviews, and I was glad I didn't pay $55 for the event. I watched it the next day online, and I must say: these guys are WAY to critical. I've been a fan since the 80's and I never quit watching, and Wrestlemania 25 was great. People need to quit being so bitter.
I wouldn't regret paying for it.

I have been fan since the 80's aswell, I use to buy every PPV for WWE(WWF) and WCW back then, now I can barely watch it and usually only time I order a PPV is for Wrestlemania, as a paying fan I would expect to get my money worth, but that usually doesnt happen and thats why people get pissed off. I've hear the complaint that Taker vs Michaels was slow, which to me is laughable. It was an awesome match as both men did their signature moves and went balls to the wall. It's like when people pissed all over the JJ vs Angle match from Genesis because Jarrett botched a dive and the stage spot was botched and they crawled back to the ring and it was slow. WM 25 was underwhelming but not the worst WrestleMania. I felt a bit cheated when they pulled the tag match off the ppv card. All in favor of a Kid Rock performance that gutted the Divas Battle Royal and took away the main selling point of the match. Santino's bit didn't help matters for me as to me it came off as corny and childish. MITB was good, but it wasn't the cleanest but i have no beef there. Everything else was pretty good to spectacular up until the main event which i agree w/ u on

And I also would've liked to see Rey vs JBL be an actual match but then again I was a fan of the Rey vs Kane feud because of the beating Rey would take just to come back and win. For that, I would've been entertained cus a part of me is a fan of the bruiser style that JBL uses and I thought the contrast to Rey would make for a great match betwen the two.
But overall it wasn't the worst WrestleMania, just a bit underwhelming for me.

The whole Santino thing was corny and childish, but what I feel hurt it was the announcers trying to play it off as if they weren't in on the gag like the rest of us. They tried to sell it as if this wasn't Santino and that's just down right insulting to us fans. The only saving grace to that was Santino's theatrics and celebration, which we all have to admit was quality fun.

It's been a long time, but I watched pretty much all of the WMs from 15 - 22. I skipped 23-24. I was at 22, and thought it was awesome. This is just my experience, but maybe you liked 25 because you were there.
You say 22 sucked, but because I was there and just the experience made it awesome for me. A lot of people say 25 sucked, but because you were there, the atmosphere might have made it more enjoyable.

Wrestlemania 25 was far from being one of the worst I don't know where people are coming from saying it is in the top five worst here are the Wrestlemania's IMO worst then 25 WM 2, WM 4, WM 5, WM 7, WM 9, WM 11, WM 13, WM 15, WM 16, WM 18 & WM 21. wrestlemania 16 had a surprise ending(wrestlemania moment) and went 36 minutes, plus a mind blowing ladder match with jeff hardy jumping off the ladder for a wrestlemania moment, plus an awesome 2 out of 3 falls match with angle beniot and jericho. I've got to agree with this - I didn't think 'Taker vs. Michaels was predictable in the slightest. I had no idea which way it would go, as Michaels is probably one of the few guys in the company who would be allowed to break the sacred streak. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire damn match!
