  • @shanecbryson also, let's not forget, that with our leftover money we can buy the new computer with the new hardware 2 years later.

  • @shanecbryson that's why you build your own computer using your own parts, and also tell me why my iPod touch 4g hasn't lasted me a year and my HTC hero has mrs. Apple jack@ss. Your all stupid triple boot an effin custom built pc.

  • My webcam on my msi dont work :(( any ideas or drivers :D

  • This is kool!!! I wish I could do it on my HP mini 210 this netbook even has multi-touch pad like MacBook pro but it is not fully compatible. I do like win 7 but OSX would be more kool to have. I just wonder if the performance is better on OSX than win 7.

  • I've just done this with JaS 10.4.8 its pretty cool my sound works and everything but no WLAN which is a downer but i think ill buy a nice little dongle and be contempt with my HackbookPro ;)

  • How did you get the webcam wokring? =P

  • Just a quick question... Probably not that quick now that I think about it.

I want to install OS X onto a USB HD. I don't want OS X or the boot loader to be on the main drive of the netbook.

You know like select the device i want to boot off in the bios rather than screwing around with a loader on the main drive to boot off of another device.

Does this sound doable without to much effort?

I already have a USB drive formatted to mac OS J as well as a memory stick with the MSI OSX dvd on it

  • I did this with my PC. I have OSX on an external HD. I'm typing through iATKOS v5i(distro im using) right now actually. All I did was make every of my partitions 'active' and then I downloaded a program that made the Bootloader for me and I only needed to add the OSX and my bootloader then recognizes the HD and asks me if i want to use osx or vista. I will look up which program I used I don' t remember.. email me if you can' t find a certain program. Worked for me. On external its slow though.

  • 1.) External HD is slow

2.) You dont need a bootloader at all

3.) Make sure both disks can boot, use the BIOS boot menu to swap between installations.

  • Hmm. You could always create 2 partitions and then use one for your windows(or what ever you use) and one for the os x

  • A bootloader like Chameleon will eventually be needed because it offers virtual EFI which OS X needs. You can use NetBookCD on a CD to boot and install OS X but the machine will not boot into OS X on its own. I am afraid you will have to install a bootloader.

  • dude i didnt make the comment. Thats freaking me out! i think someone hacked my youtube account, glad i dont have anything precious on a youtube account.

  • how can it be inferior when its the same components for half the price?

  • i didnt know mac had a good name anyways

why shouldent we beable to run expensive software on inexpensive notebook

after all its macintosh that are forcing people to resort to use hackintosh's because there hardware is so dam expensive, it just goes to show that you dont need an expensive computer to run reletavly weak software i mean weak its not that resorce heavy that it cant be run on much cheaper machines, mac should listen more to the consumer than just churn out pretty products

  • @puggster Windows costs more than OSX.

  • @puggster There is a reason why Mac's are so expensive. Their hardware will last you about 5 years longer than a normal PC from any major competitor. Where these netbooks are cool, they probably won't last long. Not because OSX is killing them, because they will probably run a little with OSX on them, but because they use pretty terrible and cheap hardware and housings. Apple uses the best of the best and the best housings for their products on the market.

  • I read on an MSI Wind forum about a patch that gets the audio working with speakers, headphones, etc.. Have you had success yet?

  • Downvoted for shabby affili-links. boooooo!

  • How does it work with the usb audio interface?

  • did you get the quartz extreme and core image working? Does your wifi work?

  • gma950 used by the msi is compatabile with quartz extreme. WIFI no but you can open the wind and swap the wifi card with a broadcom one then its fully compatabile... I use osx on 2 hackintosh pcs atm an amd pc, and an 18.4inch acer laptop. but still the wind is 1.6ghz atom cpu I wouldnt want run osx on that i rather use ubuntu.

  • actually there is an os x driver for the wifi card floating around.

  • i heard that you can get drivers for the factory installed WIFI now, try googling Realtek_RTL8187SE_MacOS10.5_Driver_073_UI_1.6.2

    :)

  • Yup, already tried, and works perfectly!!! Sweet

  • Não intendi.

Você estava usando um Hackintosh num note que não é da Apple?

    :)

  • Yes. They put the Mac OS on a computer Apple did not make.

  • i was wondering, is there double tap on this? like, insted of clicking you can just double tap on the touch pad. i know that 2 finger scroll is working, but i would like to know if its possible to double tap.

  • nice. I wish I could get the integrated camera to work on my hackbook.

  • He's recording this on his iphone. Watch him open photo booth and you'll see it's a 1st gen iphone that's been pwned and can record video.

  • There is no sound because the mic dosn't work whith OSX on the Wind ;-)

  • Lol, actually there's no sound because we were using the iPhone to make this video.

  • @RatSimBR but it has a mic

  • did anyone else get no sound from this video?

  • yes

  • Lol, you people love being winded up, damn yanks:( I have OSX on my Wind and I love it you tits:p

  • trust me, you don't wanna try using UNIX like bell labs 1976 flava. That's gonna be ugly. Yeah OSX and Ubuntu are environments, stacks built on top of particular unix-compatible kernels. It's a bit like saying that a modern SSE4 and evil graphics card Xeon workstation is IBM compatible. I mean, you could put MS-DOS on a floppy into the drive... but you'd be missing the point.

  • theres only two real operating systems: linux and mac os

  • aren't they both based on Unix?

  • yes they are, but still these systems are different. they have different gui, different programs etc. linux is tweaked unix, and mac os x is based on bsd, tweaked unix too. heres nice comparison: both born with same mother, but they are different, two brothers are different, so you can call them different oses. hope you understand my crappy english

  • Linux is based on Minix, not Unix. It was however to be Unix compatible.

And no, Windows is also a real OS,

  • lol, sure.

    OS X is elite.

  • the only people who hate os x are the people who haven't tried it

  • what about steve ballmer. He's tried it, he hates it like smashhing stuff up, and sulking on his yacht.

  • get the apple stickers with your ipod and stick it on your msi!

  • Thats What I Did With My IBM Thinkpad T42.

  • put an apple symbol on it.

  • Hi Super cool video really inspiring!

Could you tell me which version of Hackintosh did you use to get a successful install on the MSI wind?

    Regards

    Memek

  • I loved the owner of the computer...

  • Wow flashy effect, did not know that OSX had such :)
