  • I do this dish but with a spicy dry rub.

  • Didn't he putted too much oil?

  • To those sad he is off of the Food Network - he is and has been on CreateTV (local PBS) television. Great cook and great program, you can actually learn how to cook what he shows. Often times, "cooking shows" on the air are all flare and little to no substance. Simply Ming is NOT that.

  • hes so chill

  • that was good!

  • my fucking scallops come out wet inside :(

  • Great video. Quick question...when I cook scallops, I can't get them to sear as they 'stick' when I try to turn them...is this because the pan/oil is not hot enough? Or am I not leaving them alone long enough?

    Thanks!

  • thanks this really helped me

  • does anyone know what kind of oil he is using and why? I didn't know you can eat scallops raw?

  • @fmbighair I just tried this recipe, and I used olive oil. It turned out fabulous. The first thing I tried didn't work though. I tried butter and the pan caught fire.

  • how his show got canceled off food network i have no idea

it's so much better than frickin 8 hours of cake decorating competitions

  • he has a show on Create TV, check your local cable company

  • I wonder what kind of oil he uses.

  • i love when he has his mom on his show.. she is the best!!

  • nice!!

  • Big respect Ming, from Scotland! Seen a few of this guys vids now and think he is awesome!

Do u think u could pan fry scallops in butter? Just a thought, anyone feel free 2 answer me thanks.

  • love this video. love love love. was browsing around through a few scallop videos and this is of course the very best. Love Ming.

  • He just chowed a raw scallop!!! this guy is the asian chuck norris!

  • You can eat most seafood raw...

  • @kirby4blues sure you can, if you like having the runs ;)

  • @78k5

Maybe *you* do, but I don't.

  • I LOVE THIS

  • He's the reason I got into cooking in the first place. I'd come home late from partying, (8yrs ago) and watch his rerun (East meets West) at 3 in the morning. I'd get so hungry, I had to get some shallot, lemongrass, sriacha, REAL ginger (no powder) and get down. People are shocked when I bust out da wok!! Go Ming!!

  • really? :D

  • yup

  • it looks so much harder on Hell's Kitchen....lol

  • I made this for my family and they loved the taste, but they smelled weird and we all had diarrhea. Thanks Ming.

  • may of been shitty scallops, when they have a hint of yellow, I don't use them.

  • how to cook a scallop..... 1. hot pan with canola oil 2. add scallop and sear until brown 3. flip 4. add butter, thyme, and crushed garlic clove 5. baste 6. finished..

  • you could also score it so it opens up and holds sauces easier.

  • do chefs like to cook with their watches on?

  • I hope guitarbumx isnt refering to Ming Tsai as an "unknowledgable poser goofball". Cause Ming is awsome!

  • Food Network needs to stop filling its primetime slots with unknowledgable poser goofballs and get the real chefs back on TV, like Mario Batali.

  • WOW HE IS HOT!

  • Ming Tsai actually teaches you how to cook. I was very upset that they took him off the FoodNetwork. Grest cook, thanks for the post.

  • omfg u were in arthur!!! i love ur cooking

  • lmao!

  • he never was IN me dude...

    i like GIRLS

    ^_^

  • I love Ming Tsai.

  • who's better ming or gordon ramzy?

  • what happened with ming?

  • ming you are a champion and very inspirational. hope all is well!

  • It pissed me off that the Food Network took his show off the air. The Food Network is about personalities, not food or chefs.

  • Food Network sucks anyways

  • they should show reruns of the old shows, like Michael's Place, Hot Off the Grill, Taste, Too Hot Tamales, and all the others. Don't u agree?

  • @marcbjohnson i agree...they now have shitty cooks like flay who overkills everything with his spices : /

  • @marcbjohnson Well, you got that right. Ming does not cook Chinese food anymore. He makes food with half Asian and Western ingredients and calls it fusion. I think people were really not getting much info they were looking for. People are looking to a Chinese chef to teach Chinese food.

  • they look very nice :D

    hes a good chef

  • Very nice.

  • His fresh perspective on classic technique is GREAT!!! Love you Ming!!!

  • ummmmmmmm... yummy =)

  • I love Simply Ming! Fav. cooking show!

  • Me too.

  • ♥I will kiss a Chef for cooking soo good♥.
