Not just the MJ arrangements, all your effort to bring a new face to fingerstyle guitar especially sharing your wisdom and warmth with aspiring players is, in my opinion, doing as much the love of the instrument as Segovia. I hope we all have many more years of this "joy" in your life that you alone could have created. I truly resonate with your comment on the law of musical physics and Mozart and it's a great way to describe the phenomenon of J5 and MJ.
@wilikoki69 Thank you so much. I have had revelations doing this CD. I never got great at classical, because I hadn't lived the music. When the music is deep inside, the solution happens on the guitar - and as I did this CD, I felt like "ahh so this is how Segovia did it." Thank you a million times....I am carrying on!!!
@crescentridge Your Bach prelude is proof to me that if you ever wanted to, introducing pop guitarist to the marvelous melodies would be an amazing step, I think Andres would be proud. BTW, I think we might be cousins. My father Robert Rafferty, grew up in Brooklyn, a 3rd generation NYer. I'm Ron and live in Texas where dad retired from the Army. His dad, Henry was married to Sarah, she told my "all Raffertys are related". ;o)
You are proof also that my love for guitar music is hereditary.
@wilikoki69 Man my great grandfather Phil Rafferty and grandad Hugh grew up in NJ....whassup cus! :-) That Bach piece is in a state of constant flux and tuning up...still not quite the iron clad road worthy work has gone in. I am hoping that with my pop songs I can pull more listeners into all genres and convey a sense of excellence even if the tunes are very popular. Thanks so much!
Hey Adam!! It's sooo great what you do with your Fans... play with some one live on stage, like Judith & Soenke and take the fotos in your videos! You are a great man!! :)
@MarioOoGuitar Hey man, so many of my heroes helped me. I am simply passing it forward - at age 42 I am the link between my masters and my students. God bless!
Would be great if some or all the money made out of this CD's or tunes went to charity.. that would be a true tribute to Michael.. but thanks anyway... the tunes sound really good.
I just received this in the mail and I've listened to it all! Such a great tribute to the King. Great work and thank you for the inspiration and music Adam!
Thank you so much for this big explanations . There are so much feelings in this video. I know , you can feel the music. And thanks for the pics of Judith, Soenke, Sungha and Bernd and so ...... regina
Hey Adam - great video. Although I wouldn't deny Michael's talent... I would attribute a lot of his success to two things - great production, MTV. From what I've heard he didn't read or write music (who cares) and that Quincy Jones really juiced up those two albums (on the wall, thriller) with phenomenal production. You do such a wonderful job capturing all the little quirks and rhythms that are so iconic with the originals. Congratz with your new album and I wish you the best of success.
@bluesgurugod Thanks man! Actually there are demo & rehearsal tapes here on YT of MJ developing tunes with a band...I myself was surprised to find out that he himself wrote "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough", "Billie Jean" and "The Way You Make Me Feel". It was him, Quincy - and the unsung hero, Rod Temperton. Rod wrote many of the hits - "Thriller", "Off the Wall", "Lady in my Life" and more. FYI Rod also wrote "Stomp" by the Brothers Johnson.
That's correct. He laid down a lot of songs in his studio at the family home in Encino. The incredible percussion for example on Working Day & Night was played by him, his brothers and Janet. Quincy is no doubt a master, but Michael was incredibly talented and very underrated when it came to production.
Adam, I'd like to thank you for the respect you continue to show for Michael and the good work you do in keeping his memory alive. You're a joy to listen to! All the best!
I'm for sure gonna buy it :) Your songs always inspires me, Adam! Thanks for the nice arrangements for me to listen and play! Question, did you learn jazz guitar before you started playing fingerstyle? I was wondering what helped you a lot in arranging these amazing songs! Thanks again!
Love your words cause Mike was with me as far back as i can remember too. I remember the cartoons and the Jackson 5. Diana Ross presents the J5 was the first album i "had." But must be fate cause i was just in the car and heard the verse from the new Jay-Z Kanye and he says the line: "Rest in peace to the leader of the Jackson 5!" (track 8 Welcome to the Jungle) & i thought: "I still miss him". And then i come home and see you're vid.Fate. Great to hear you talk & play. Inspire.
This is not a electronic press kit only! This clip is consequently managed in the same unique manner you work on your arrangements. A great idea and differing perfectly from all the other trailers shown on the tube. Very very well done indeed! You have to have a copyright on the format :-)))
Dear Adam:
Two words: Earth Song.

I often come back to your MJ covers and such (even though I've listened to them countless times!) but I always get inspired when I listen.
You really are an inspiration to us all, Adam.
