Of course we now know that Jupiter absorbed many of the 'rock' strikes that would have done severe damage to our earth long ago, but it's sure not a perfect protector, so while Jupiter has a 'purpose', it's sure far from perfect.

The Bible never states how old the world is. The world is billions of years old and God created the earth and the heavens. Even while being created it never said that things cannot evolve, people keep taking the Bible out of context and taking things to an extreme. When science can prove the cause of life I'll be happy.

Genesis 1:3-31 is not discussing the original creation of matter or of the heavenly bodies. It describes the preparation of the already existing earth for human habitation. This included creation of the basic kinds of vegetation, marine life, flying creatures, land animals, and the first human pair. .....

This is a common tactic Christians use to avoid reading absurd claims in the Bible. If what it says is clearly absurd, find some other way to read it. But if you'd actually read what it says, it defines a "day" as the period between morning and evenging SIX times. (Gen 1:5, Gen, 1:8, Gen 1:13.... etc.)

The rules dictate that the one making a positive assertion of a thing existing, has the burden of proof to show it does exists.

This is a common tactic Christians use to avoid reading absurd claims in the Bible. If what it says is clearly absurd, find some other way to read it. But if you'd actually read what it says, it defines a "day" as the period between morning and evenging SIX times. (Gen 1:5, Gen, 1:8, Gen 1:13.... etc.)

It assumes that the light from the Big Bang is what the bible is referencing, as 'light'.
The problem is that nothing else existed but photons at this point, as far as solid matter is concerned, so this view FAILS.

Now, the CIRCLE of the earth simply is what one would see on a flat plane when one spins around and gazes at the horizon. It does NOT refer to a SPHERE, even though hebrew had a word for BALL, the bible failed to use this more appropriate word here....WHY?

@AtheistToothFairy (e) ..... had been written that a school of Greek philosophers reasoned that the earth likely was spherical, & in about another 300 years a Greek astronomer calculated the approximate radius of the earth.The idea of a spherical earth was not the general view even then. Only in the 20th century has it been possible for humans to travel by airplane, & later into outer space & even to the moon, thus giving them a clear view of “the circle” of earth’s horizon.

As Carl Sagan pointed out, this is quite true, which is curious that the Hebrews were unaware of this advanced knowledge to.
Again, if god was helping with his holy book, god should have told them they lived on a BALL and not a flat CIRCLE, as they wrongly assumed was the case.

Beyond the crazy evangelicals that are gathering some momentum, most sects even accept most scienctific findings. This isn't a good critique or representation of the kind of people we should be trying to persuade. While I concede that the evangelicals are the loudest of the bunch, I really feel as if it's quite alienating to just attack the easy targets, who aren't likely to be persuaded

As you pointed out, the Fundies are indeed the loudest, especially here in the USA and also here on youtube.
Therefore, most youtube videos made by atheists are usually directed at these Fundies and not the more lukewarm Xtian sects.
The Xtians who accept evolution and the big bang, fail to realize the problems it creates for concepts like Original Sin and jesus coming to fix that problem etc.

And as far as our characters, we can't avoid sin, God can't sin. We're limited in scope and ability, God is omnipotent. God is (said to be), perfect, we're anything but perfect. So the claim fails, as does the book from which it comes. It's a human claim.

Firstly, I was not "created". Nothing can ever be "created". Look up the Law of Conservation of Energy. Secondly, my structure isn't modeled after the image of other than my ancestors (other ape species).
Thirdly, you're not different than I am. You're an animal, a mammal, a primate and an ape. Denying he reality doesn't change the biological classifications to which you belong.
