Interesting video. I feel terribly sorry for her family. When I read her mother's book, my heart ached for her. I have seen pictures of Nancy before her punk stage and she was a beautiful girl. This whole story is terribly sad.

Welcome. I'm currently reading Deborah Spungen's book and am having a tough read of it. Part of me says that the Spungen's spoiled Nancy and that this led to the bulk of the problems while my ananlytical mind realizes that I wasn't there and my personal experience of being the product of a traumatic birth, cord wrapped around the neck twice, makes me sympathetic to the problems coping that that experience can lead to. I'm curious as to your opinion of how Nancy's upbringing affected her?

Sids mums request to place his remains along side Nancys was refused by her parents. Sid has no grave - to quote John Lydon from the Sex Pistols film "The Filth and the Fury" After the refusal by Nancys parents, Sids mum brought his ashes back to the U.K. Unfortunately she dropped them coming off the plane at Heathrow and that the majority of them was lost. Lydon weeps for his old friend in this film, he's no reason to lie.

not strange at all-i clean it off because if you saw the state of this place! there is garbage left all around the place- old car tires, soda and beer cans-this place is just bad- go for a visit and you will see what i'm talking about- and i don't remove any of the stones left for her at her stone i just clean up the stone so it is clear--it looks like it is sinking into the ground--i just pray no one steals it-i've conplained to the mangement about it-so lets see if they take care of it

You're not kidding about the state of that place! The whole area looks so poorly maintained. The lack of respect by some people who make the pilgrimage to her grave doesn't help. You're a good person to help out like you do.

Interesting video. I feel terribly sorry for her family. When I read her mother's book, my heart ached for her. I have seen pictures of Nancy before her punk stage and she was a beautiful girl. This whole story is terribly sad.

She was murdered by a drug addict named Michael,who lived on the hotel's sixth floor,He was there that nite with Spungen and Vicious, And was later seen carrying a wad of cash wrapped in a purple hair tie that Spungen owned.

Poor Nancy...I'm sure there are a LOT of things about her we will never know...(and I bet her mothers book doesn't tell us Nancy's truth....) Nancy was very intelligent. She was really only a kid when she died...If she was still here, she would be iconic.

It's very good to know that Nancy's grave is being looked after. I lived in London in the 60s, 70s and 80s and don't remember Nancy being hated at all. Yoko Ono, now, she was despised in England...
It's a pity Sid's ashes couldn't have been buried in a container in Nancy's grave. Ashes scattered just blow away, leaving nothing behind of the person...

Actually Sids ashes are scattered over Nancys grave. Sids mum and several friends including the last Guitarist in Sids last band jumped the fence to enter the cemetery , had a small "service then scattered Sids ashes over the grave.

yes i know he was scattered there, her parnets would not allow him to be buried there, so his mom scattered him there when the place was closed, back then there were locked gates, now there are none, but as fans we know they are together!

@michelejlwv To my knowledge..Jerry Only of the Misfits was the one to accompany sid's mother Nancy's grave and actually was the one to DRIVE HER!..Now weather it was just her and Jerry i'm not sure..But I believe it was!..I plan on going there tomorrow and snapping a shot!..It is ten minutes from me and i've never went!..

Welcome. I'm currently reading Deborah Spungen's book and am having a tough read of it. Part of me says that the Spungen's spoiled Nancy and that this led to the bulk of the problems while my ananlytical mind realizes that I wasn't there and my personal experience of being the product of a traumatic birth, cord wrapped around the neck twice, makes me sympathetic to the problems coping that that experience can lead to. I'm curious as to your opinion of how Nancy's upbringing affected her?

true, and we only have the moms side of the story, but not giving into this child resulted in her just continuing to escalate. She had no point where she gave up to authority. its possible they found the only way to have peace was to not fight her? she says thru the whole book how hard it was on the rest of the family, and how they knew giving in to her wasnt the best way, but they DID try to get help and no one could do anything for them. and the other 2 kids don't seem particularly spoiled

I have some friends that live in europe and can not afford to come to the states to see her grave so I made the video- also I go a couple of times a year to clean up her grave because the owners of the place seem not to care about any of the graves there, so I try to keep it nice-- no i did'nt know her but feel like I do, she had a simular life as mine,so I guess in a way I did know her----michele

I am surprised after what I have read about her family that they would bury her in such a crappy cemetery. Is it possible that this used to be a nice place, perhaps when the grandparents were buried there, and then the neighborhood went down hill (with crime etc) and no one cares anymore or wants to visit?>

Sids mums request to place his remains along side Nancys was refused by her parents. Sid has no grave - to quote John Lydon from the Sex Pistols film "The Filth and the Fury" After the refusal by Nancys parents, Sids mum brought his ashes back to the U.K. Unfortunately she dropped them coming off the plane at Heathrow and that the majority of them was lost. Lydon weeps for his old friend in this film, he's no reason to lie.
