  • this is an awesome song, has been and will stay awesome.

  • Such inappreciation for great music i hate that. Really?! makes going to the bathroom epic?! no appreciation.

  • @Lagomaster24 It is crude, but I take it as...that was their way of appreciating this music. At least they are listening and enjoying the music.

  • @Lagomaster24 It may not be the appreciation you'd prefer, but it is nevertheless acknowledgment of the basic story of the piece... which is a grand climax; an epic event. I'd take it over hate any day, though it is somewhat of a shame, I'll give you that.

  • @JayDeLart i see your point i just do not necessarilily agree with how some show their appreciation, though i will agree that its a form of it.

  • Better one

  • lol @ AlexanderRozhenko

  • Is it just me or are those breasts in the sand?

  • 8 people felt evil while listening to this song... That is why they clicked the "dislike" button.

  • Music, as powerful as you were, my brother.

    In loving memory of you,

Always in our hearts and soul,

    Your sister

  • @brittdennislokker This sounds trite on a YouTube response, but I am sorry for your loss.

  • @darkprose Thanks for the compassion, but sorry for you, you never met my brother,

and he was never "trite"! It was his funeral song and I will always honor that.

  • @brittdennislokker I meant my comment was trite, not yours. Not at all. Actually, I found your thought very moving.

  • @darkprose

    Thanks for your compassion.

I only wish he was still here

And I hope that on my funeral this song is played also...

Alltough I am not powerful as he was

    Regards

  • @darkprose

    Thanks for your compassion.

I only wish he was still here

And I hope that on my funeral this song is played also...

Alltough I am not powerful as he was

    Regards

  • @darkprose

    Thanks for your compassion

  • Best version on Youtube. Good sound, good setup, no annoying images, clear title, nothing to interfere with the beauty of this piece of art.

Sincere thanks to darkprose for the proper upload.

  • @okkun333 Thank you very much. The sound quality diminishes a bit when uploaded, and because of copyright difficulties, I couldn't upload the entire work, but I would be happy to send it to you on MP3, if you wish. Just send me an email to my inbox.

  • I remember when this is played always in the performing of "Lucia" and it's so good. From the first year I've like this. This_is_timeless.

  • @superHYUjunior Agreed. Both the music and the sentiments are something human beings will probably always relate to, as long as death, destruction and contingency is a possibility.

  • omg curt..

  • @iamthebarracuda What is this a reference to?

  • Awesome11250

    picture is desert or sand...

    i think

  • @MrZee1994 I think the idea is that---and you are correct---they look like sand dunes that change and morph and are in constant motion due to winds, like Fortune, herself.

  • i heard this in a film years ago and i always wanted to know what this song was, so happy i found it. What genre of music is this?????opera???? its just absolutly epic

  • @pivotmasterpk

    Or "Nara" is great.

  • @Machistadora o fortuna ! velut luna, vita detestabilis, nunc obdurat et un curato ludo mentis aciem....

  • The whole thing is about an hour long... a kid in our choir fainted on the last and most intense part. Face plant right off the front of the bleachers. OOOHHH FOORTUUNNAA *Smack* TOTALLY lame for the climax of the piece.

  • è prorio un opera leggendaria stupenda!

  • I sung the Carmina Burana as a soprano in freshman year, and it sounded magnificent.

  • @MegearaErotica Kudos! Freshman year in college, I take it? Are you a professional soprano?

  • @darkprose No, freshman year in high school. We actually made it into Disney with the audition tape of that. Also, no, I couldn't be considered a professional, though I've been in singing groups and performances for 10 years. We rocked that concert though.

  • @MegearaErotica Oh, well, fantastic! Awesome. Always wonderful to hear about young people that love, and make, music. Keep it up (though I'm sure you will). Any videos of this event online somewhere?

  • @darkprose Not that I could ever find sadly.

  • @MegearaErotica I'm going to subscribe to your channel and perhaps you might find some or upload something of your performances in the future.

  • Genius! And very terrifying! Perfectly fits horror films

  • I sang this song last night at Orcestra hall in MN. this song was soo cool, but reallyy difficult to sing, but i love everyy minute of it!! :) this was on of myy favorite ones along with the second one when guys sing and number 20.

  • @PrincessofNight75 Well, kudos. Did you just do O Fortuna or all of Carmina Burana?

  • @darkprose we did the whole carmina burana in high school

  • @choc0lee Excellent. It's really a whole piece and cloth, I think. One big, musical narrative and journey, I think, especially book-ended by this charming descent into fate and chance.

  • love it, i got it off the bio of Christopher Paolini :) he was listening to this song while he was writing the final battle in Eragon! :D

  • POWWER!!

  • I'm singing this with our city's Symphony Orchestra! :D

    1st Tenor, :P

  • loved this song ever since wrestlemania 14 and undertakers entrance against kane!!!

  • @beckford1989 Excellent. Thank you for listening! Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Aha!! This song was in the Simpsons!!! Just putting that out there...

  • @xSunlightandShadowsx Everything has been in The Simpsons, I think.

  • LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA

  • Ugh, this adaption's awful. I've listened to several other songs off this album, and thought it was just my opinions on the songs, but hearing this version of O Fortuna confirms it for me. Firstly, it's a bit slower than I'd have liked at the beginning. I suppose it makes it more dramatic, so I can't complain too much. But holy crap, there's zero balance in this song. It's as if one of the soprano's microphones was up higher than everyone else's. I could hardly hear the wonderful men section.

  • @Capndroid Which performances or recordings would you recommend?

  • @Capndroid - Seiji Ozawa's conducting tends to be ultra-slow, unfortunately.

  • @Capndroid I haven't heard any other versions but this one seems pretty tight. It's in a lot of movie trailers.

  • @Capndroid As matter of act, suck your mom's dick. If you don't like the version then go listen to another version. Don't write a paragraph bitching about a perfectly good song.

  • I LOVE this song. Amazing

  • this is seriously the most epic song in existence. totally timeless.

  • vita detestabilis

    nunc obdurat

    et tunc curat

  • This Song Iz da best orchestra song !!!

  • Hello Darkprose, could you name some music that sounds similar to oh fortuna?

  • the omen

  • @manc48, it actually wasn't in The Omen -- the entire score was written by Jerry Goldsmith. Carmina Burana is in less films than it seems, it is simply that so much music is made which sounds similar to it.

  • @darkprose Could you name some examples of music that sounds similar?

  • @tuigleven Many, many pieces of music -- especially music written for cinema. Consider, as I mentioned before, the music from The Omen, by Goldsmith. John Williams' music in the Star Wars prequels has heavy choral forces, too. Film composer Wojciech Kilar's music in Bram Stoker's Dracula and The Ninth Gate. The Requiem Mass by Verdi or Mozart. Mahler's eighth symphony. I'm thinking of large orchestral and choral works, here. There are probably countless examples.

  • @darkprose dont forget Hans Zimmer ;)
