No, the words aren't pronounced the same way, they are stressed differently. Satyr has stress on the first syllable, whereas satyricon has primary stress on the second syllable and and secondary stress on the fourth syllable.

The interviewer pronounces both words correctly. I don't know where you're from, but the interviewer is a native English speaker; what made you think you're right and he's not? =P
