I dont believer western style democracy will work in the Middle East. Its sad but true. Military Republics will probably be the only way to control the terrorism brought on by Mullahs. Everyone should read Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. it will explain that we have to fight ignorance with education not bullets. or see the site: Central Asia Institute.
Many of you are posting coments based on what we in the west see as rights & enjoy as free priveledges. our ancestors fought & won those rights for us. These other societies are not in our position of social sophistication, they are barely out of the rule of feudal over lords. We need not fight for their freedom, they have to do it themselves. All we need to do is protect, jealously protect what we have. Protect it from their regressive & backward reigimes.
The purpose of government is to ensure the people's safety and improve thier quality of life, not push it's beliefs upon them. The people should have the right to protest.
the Foundation for Democracy is an organization for American imperialism...
They don't care about freeing Iranians from oppressive leadership. They just want to "free" Iranians from an non-American leadership. Ironically, these are the same guys that make up the religious right of America.
The pro-CIA puppets in Iran are no less religious than their counterparts. If the "ArrogantAtheist" would have looked into the issue at all he would find pro-CIA puppets chanting "Allahu Akbar".
And now he wants to fund the CIA/ NED (which never had a problem to fund islamism or terrorism) and its "color revolutions" out of the pockets of atheistic system slaves?
The climax of secularism in Iran though not at all anti-religion was Mossadegh. The CIA killed him.
i'd like to dedicate my new video to the memory of lisa beamers husband, who valiantly died crashing flight 93 into a hole which was already there, may he rest in pieces, where ever they may be.
flight 93 - no wreckage, hole in ground since 1994 where engine dug up, and presumably mr. beamer
wtc 7 - freefall
wtc 1 and 2 - molten steel in basements, evidence of thermite
flight 77 - pentagon photo and video footage clearly shows no plane before wall collapsed.
I don't belive what you wrote is true nor do I belive what you wrote is false. However, I will gladly do research on it to answer all the questions I have in my head.

notice how nothing came out of the protest besides alot of rebels now being hunted down and some more death to americas. i called this whole joke. the ayatollahs actually run the country, not the president so even if they got amenidiadi replaced moussawi would have still taken orders from the same ayatollahs. what a joke. if the iranians actually had balls they'd overthrow the real dictators and not protest some puppet leaders. eat it.

No, just the atheists who are doing it out of spite, rather than generosity. As for what *I'm* doing to help - not a whole lot, I'll admit. Certainly not as much as what's realistically in my power to do, but that's not a whole lot to begin with.
@Dominic: spite and generosity? these are the only two reasons you can come up with that people might want to help the protesters?
how about respect for freedom? respect for human rights? in fact i think this video is pretty fucking clear on that point considering the charity they support.
so do everyone, including the protesters, a big favor and shut the fuck up. you're not helping anyone with your half-baked skepticism.
Regardless of the protesters' motivations, the erasure of the mullah's control over Iran would be a welcome development. I'm old even, though, to have seen these protests flare up (and die off) many times

Mousavi is against the religious police and forcing Islam on people who reject it. He is a conservative man who was instrumental in the 70's revolution. The video is off base in it's assumptions about the riots, and the direction of the party. Beware of people asking for handouts to "help" others. Usually the only one's being helped are the ones with their hand out. Don't blindly obey just because you're an atheist or like the posters name. This is just another guy looking to make a fast buck.
uh... you realize that the protesters are deeply religious too, right? that's why they're screaming allahu ackbar from their roofs. (not just about suicide bombings, its just a general islamic rallying cry)
the only difference is that they're on on the left wing instead of right wing. i expected better from you guys
@PoisonedV: some protesters may be religious but they are still struggling against a violent theocracy for their freedom. this deserves support from anyone who respects human rights.
about allahu ackbar, remember that much of middle-eastern language is entwined with religious sayings. phrases which have religious origins may come to have as little religious meaning as when one says "god bless you" after a sneeze or "oh my god" after one is startled.
the funny part is that iraq and iran citizens who arent extremest who actualy live there like the american troops... so is america realy a problem? in some cases yes ,but i do agree that the usa should fix ts own problems before fixin others

If you plan on criticizing something about our country, as least do your research. We are currently "free" from Bush and Cheney; does the name "Obama" ring a bell, or have you been living in a cave since November? Also, we are most certainly a democracy. Granted Bush was not as faithful to the Constitution as he should have been, but our leaders are elected to terms either through a popular vote, or by an electoral college. If there is a dispute, it is settled in court. How are we not democratic?
*puts on ArrogantRedneck shirt* Where I come from we don't see much use in equiping an Islamic nation with democratic powers.
