Strat is the guitar for sure! I like my guitar in the 2 pickup position using the bridge and middle pickup - honestly it's hard to say after that with all the variables like amps, pedals, chords not to mention your own personal touch. It think it needs some high bite without being harsh and i like a taste of break-up - that's my thinking.
I commented before on your lights tutorial. I actually am close to being able to perform it including the solo work. When my boy was young I too got him started on the drums and we played together. I'm recently retired and have been able spend more quality time playing. My son and his friend come over on Tues. I feed them and then we play. We actually got to perform a short set recently and had good positive feed back from the experience. I really enjoy your work.
your post means a GREAT deal to me sir....thanks! On another note...i used to play a lot with a guy who refused to play this song - almost like it was below him. People would request it and he enjoyed saying he wouldn't cover it. I guess i'm just the opposite - i NEVER get tired of it, and when i see people at gigs enjoying it as much as i do i feel thankful to get to share it! All the best with your music with your family....dale.
Thank you very much, for your great guitar lessons, from rio, Brazil! I've seen several guitar lessons on youtube and you do one of the best work on the net!
Dale, Thanks so much for taking your tutorials past just the intro. I just picked up a guitar less than a year ago and have been watching youtube lessons when I get some spare time. I keep coming back to yours. Your teaching style is perfect, just broke down enough to show us what is going on with out spending 5 minutes on what a D cord is. Just wanted to let you know your videos help us so much and has inspired my first youtube post to let you know so. Your taste and choice of music is great.
hello, thanks so much for your kind post- greatly appreciated! I'm glad to hear you are enjoying your music - i wish you all the best and please know if i can ever help i'd love to do so!
I have been playing a long time and usually play alone. Getting to watch your lessons on this and other songs is not only some of the best teaching on the internet, regardless of your current skill level and as thorough an instruction as you could get; Thanks so Much!
Thanks again Dale, a song that everyone can play bits and pieces right, you put it all together properly and as usual clear concisely explained. You really are a great teacher of the instrument..
You are the best teacher I've seen on YouTube. A lot of these licks can be used in variations in original songs which is cool...I know you are not a jukebox but please think about "I Never Dreamed" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It sounds like a bear to do but is a great song...Thanks
thank you so much for your kind post......greatly appreciated! I love that tune and you bet i'll seriously consider it - all the best with your music,
dude believe me when i say this....you are THE best guitar teacher on youtube i subcribed to you lol your a really good guitarist. thank for your videos this is already making me a better guitarist and it's on't been about 25 30mins of watching your videos.
lol....that's how i hear it - it is a tune that i see played a lot of different ways - none the less a timeless killer tune!! Thanks for your post and take care,
thanks so much for watching and the rating is very appreciated! I'm playing through a Headstrong Lil King and i replaced the PUPS in this guitar with Lindy Fralin and used RS Guitarworks electronics kit! hope all is good my friend,
Awesome Dale I pretty much play it the same way as you. It was one of those MUST LEARN songs many many years ago. I am glad I learned it. Hey your playing that Strat again lol.
You my friend have a great gift for playing and one for teaching as well
You take a song and make easy to learn
I have seen others who taught the same song and they to play it very well however when it comes to breaking it down they fall short in the teaching part.
Once more I am so thankful I have ran across your page and am very greatful for the long distance friendship via internet
hey buddy! You words are kind and mean a lot and the feeling is right back at you! Who knows maybe one day we can sit and play together! Hope you and yours are all good, your friend,
This is exactly what I needed. Finally someone showing the chorus and fills.
Thanks bro. Nice Strat, I'm using a Les Paul.

Great lesson Tonedr.
This is a song I've seen murdered at many jams!
However, there's a nice funky feel to the original and all the subtle variations (that you teach so well) really make a difference.
Hopefully we'll see a few more authentic versions after folks see this lesson!

lol... I'm not sure. Maybe candy apple red.
I have an old strat copy that I don't play any more. It's red & very worn out. Ken Parker built it for me back in the mid 80's.
I like those Eric Johnson strats.
elevn7 2 years ago
sounds like a cool guitar! i wouldn't imagine many folks could say Parker built them a guitar.....the EJ strats would be nice i would think.
