I'm sure some load of script kiddies in their bedrooms will port dx10 to xp someday. And then we'll be looking at microsoft and knowing that they did this to get gamers to vista for no other reason than to flog that particular operating system
DX10 to XP is hardly the finished article and there seems to be some debate as to whether it isn't just a workaround (a bit like where you fool a 32 bit operating system into 'seeing' more than 3 gigs or RAM)
Well there is no real reason other than marketing to keep DX10 Vista and 7 only, but no one will ever bother porting support for the API. Not with the success of windows 7.

Do a quick google search before you say no way it cant be done.
I run crysis GTA etc in dx10 mode on xp.
