i hate to state this but the perfect show has a small flaw.... if you pause the video at 0:17 then u can see that c and d are the same. With the 24 letter alphabet, i and j along with u and v being the same the regular 26 letters became 24, but this now states that its a 23 letter alphabet.... but even with this i love this show!!!

Not necessarily. Some letters could have the same binary value. If you notice that i-j are given the same value and well as u-v.

Perhaps Reid figured that out after realizing that D had the same value as C and then just decided to solve two at a time before writing them out, to save space on the paper for other equations.

Granted that I-J and U-V are more similar than C and D.

But Sir Francis Bacon was a master at making secrets difficult to figure out. So he would disregard that.

I know the one that Sir Francis Bacon used was. But this is a variation. If I can find out if it's real, I'll figure out if it was a mistake the show made or just really good planning on the shows part.

Well.. I know the code written by Sir Francis Bacon. This code however is much trickier. With the 21 letter alphabet, more letters would be clumped in with the same Binary Code. Which ones would be obvious. The most similar letters. M-N, P-Q, I-J, etc. But yea. With the 24 letters, there are less clumped binary values. I'm running them right now to see if I get the same results.

Basically, if the code was already cracked, there would be no need for the lines under "You are the light in cold."

The 'A's and 'B's that he has under the message are because he was working the code upwards, probably because of no room at the bottom of the paper to write. But the lines underneath the 'A's and 'B's were completely unnecessary. That was the only 'mistake' that the show made.

There ya go. Hope this cleared it up for you. Sorry it took so long.

That's trainable. An Eidetic memory can be acquired. The IQ; however, is not. An IQ of 187 is pretty rare.

But Reid didn't start completely from scratch. He has the original note taped up. It's easy to figure out if a code is being used. If you read the letter and it doesn't make sense, but it would make sense to the person it's meant for, there is probably a code. But figuring out WHICH code takes REALLY good profiling. Reid is a god.

Ok. Well it took a day. (I'm not as fast as Reid)

But the show was basically right.

I tried to copy the board and work backwards so I could get to the same starting point that Reid was at.

Which I did. Then when I tried to find all 32 possible codings, I had Reid's results by the second. So it didn't take that long to crack it. But I kept going to see what else the code would yield with the other codings.

The only mistake that this show made, is the repetition of the sentence.

What I mean by that, is that he came to the conclusion that they were in love based off the sentence he received as a result. "You are the light in cold."

If you look pause the video between 0:02 and 0:05, you'll see that the first sentence of the note is "You are the light in cold."

This doesn't mean that Reid or the show made a mistake, it simply means that whoever wrote the code, whether it be character or script writer, got lazy.

They also put redundant lines under the message.

He's talking about a 400-year-old binary code. Usually you would need a computer to find all the combinations, but Reid just wrote it down because it would be faster that way.

That's why Emily did that, because most people wouldn't be able to do that in their head.
