Dr. Sean: Thank you so much for this immersion bath to the soul. Now I've another Bach interpreter to enrapture my sirit. The other one is Mr. Edward Power Biggs.
@gorantokio Indeed...that is the expertise of sound engineer Lenny Manchess at work. Lots more of his handiwork at Trinity Wall Street's website and YouTube channel.
Although I love the piano... the only piece in the world I want to play on a different instrument is this piece. Now I just got to find me a really expensive organ and lots of practice time... :(
Jeu superbe, aussi élégant que fluide, version magistrale, tellement maitrisée, la perfection, c'en est presque troublant... Bravo et merci, Johann Sebastian doit être ravi...
It's Da BOMB baby! Finger action as smooth as glass and the split video of his hands working and his feet doing the dance on the foot pedals give the performance even more character.
I wish I could take lessons from you! I'm trying to learn this peice and - don't laugh - I think I'm going to turn the organ off and play along with your recording til I get the tempos (and touch) right.
Vey nice, and modern interpretation. Great player. So bad he doesn't use the registers (pulls and pushbuttons around him) of the organ to change the tone of the instrument as he goes from part to part, as indicated in the original score. Only this monotonous sound from the beginning to the end. He doesn't fully seize and exploits the abilities of his instrument, thus the interpretation is a bit poorer than it could be with tone changes.
@poymanjoe He does change stops, though. He mostly does so using the presets under the manuals. I hear a number of different sounds in use here, though most of them ARE of the churchy-sounding diapason family.
I had to come back and listen to this again 8 hours after hearing it/seeing it for the first time.... If this man doesn't get paid to play music, he damn well should be!!
Bravo Maestro! Most fluid performance of this master piece I've heard yet and all done without the assistance of the sheet music infront of you. For you to have memorized this piece show tremendous intimacy with your love of music and your instrument of choice. Again... BRAVO!
Excellente! I love how the camera focused on the fingering and footing. Not many videos of this piece do that. I too am learning Bach's grand master piece, Busoni's version for piano which has alot more difficult fingering than the organ version. This is just perfectly played! Bravo!
Wow, no obvious mistakes that I could hear. Wonderful vision of the piece, as well. I generally don't enjoy the use of ritardando's very much in this piece but you used them tastefully, in my personal opinion. Also, the video has a good quality image. :)
This guy is great. Notice how calm and relaxed he is while playing. Every time I've seen someone botch this piece, it was because they tried to hard to concentrate or to play too fast. Just need to loosen up a little and relax and your playing will come out more smoothly...like this guy.
Amazing!!
