Blade MCX Trim and First Flight

Hey tip make sure you take it up at least 3 feet off the ground and trim it there! when close to the ground the heli produces uplifting wind that can throw your heli any way, therefore making it an inaccurate trim. Hope i helped.

@ACTeslaMachineDC Yeah, just jump right in. They are fun. My dog likes it even more. She has learned to try to bite them from underneath. Not the one in the video, that could really hurt her, but the kind for $30 from Walmart.. She has one I call hers. You should see it, looks like hell after all her stressful grabs, but keeps on flying.

@threeque Have you since "graduated " to bigger heli's or no? The one you have in video--is that the one you can buy at walmart?

@ACTeslaMachineDC The one in the video is the $100 4 channel. Much smoother and more control than the Air Hogs (walmart) I do not think I will buy a larger heli. I was into RC airplanes years ago, but have sold off all my stuff. I like the fact that I can fly in the house with these things. So for no, keeping it small.

Yea, thats what i thought. But how many times can you fully charge the 110 Mah battery on that battery operated charger that the heli comes with?

Sorry, I have never counted, but my guess would be 8 or 10. Be careful not to fly too long. These batteries or so sensitive to over draining. You can kill them if you fly to the point of power noticeable power lose. I find that if you fly until you just start to see the power decline, you are too late. I really hate these batteries now. I am planing on using a timer just as with gas engine planes.

i think that it says in the manual it comes trimmed from the factory, i have one and they are a blast. a good first to learn on.

I vaguely remember seeing that. Is this the one where you have to start inverted, you can't actually change to inverted flight during a flight.? Whats the mod? reversing polarity of the battery?

after you put the battery in before 2 seconds it needs to be on a flat surface so it can sync with the tranny which you need to turn on before you insert the battery to keep your MCX heli running at full potential.

hey im getting one of these things soon and wut do u do to trim it? I understand that you hit certain buttons on certain sides of the right stick to adjust how steady it is but which side do u hit if its not steady? Say its slidding right, then how do i make stop doing that?

If I can give you a tip...always trim your heli when it's in the air, not on the ground. The ground effect from the blades needs to dissipate before any trimming takes place. But you're right, this heli is a little gem. I own 7 heli's, 2 of them are large 6 channels and I still love flying this one! Ignore the idiots on here who have no clue about heli's. Take care

Thanks for tip. I have discovered that ground effect does effect the trim. I was pretty nervous about this thing rocketing to the ceiling and into the corner of the room. I had no idea just how stable this heli actually is.

Yeah always trim the heli off the ground. Ground affect dissipates at about 1.5ft so trimming at 3ft+ is best way.

Also, SilverBloodLine hit the nail with the battery problem. Its the contacts, they bend fairly easily - especially after being plugged/unplugged a few times, and it also explain why all your new batteries worked fine at first.

One thing that annoys me is the batteries. The original and my two spares all died very quickly. I flew to the point of "first noticeable power loss" as instructed by my local store. That was about 8 minutes. I complained to the manufacture and they sent me three new batteries. I think they recommended no more than 5 minutes. I used one of the new batteries as they suggested and it died. I have since temporarily lost interest and the other two new batteries are just sitting there.

i hat the same problem. the batterys are new and the flight time is by 6 or 8 minutes.

but i have found the problem and i can give you a little tip i think.

at my mcx the contacts from the battery and the heli was not so god after 20 flights.

so the problem ist that: the contacts must be pushed a little bit to the outside. NOT TO MUCH! then the battery connect correctly to the mcx and it will work.

that was pretty dipshit of you the gyro has to stabilise so meaning once pluged in u need to leave it for a few second second that why when u started to fly it started to go a little weird plus u didn't turn the radio first and even worst u couldnt even tell what each stick was for!

You don't need to let this 'stabilize' (use the spell check friend, makes you look smarter than you are). Just turn it on and let er rip, no prob. What you see is the ground effect as awilson72 pointed out. What you are watching in this video, is someone who, for the very first time, turns on their helicopter. I guess you missed that point. Not all people are born knowing how to fly a RC heli. I assume you think you were based on your jackass style comments.

What makes it drift at first is called ground effects. This is the wind generated from the heli, pushing it. Once its off the ground about 2 feet, it will fly steadily. Trim isn't really ever needed, even the first flight.

If you don't know, clicking the right joystick(possibly left I cant remember) gives you dual rates. Clicking it will make the servos move a little less further, click again to restore it to original rates.

when you install the battery the blade should be setting on the landing gear so the gero will set ,if you place it upside like you did to install the battery it will make it not respond to the controls

Its a very good and durable heli, the controls are very responsive, if anyone was looking for a begginer heli then this would be the one to get.

for me, sometime the trim is so bad, i have to rebind it, that might work

you will have to re trim it to, but it might be easier

The only advice I can think of, is to realize that the rotation trim gets messed up as your charge diminishes. I do find that even when I think I have it trimed, it does not stay perfectly still. It kind of rocks, almost like it is hung from a 10 foot long string and gently swaying from it.

i was acutally think of getn one of these but the picoZ. one model has the back rotor.they would be fun,but i think the picoz last about 10 minutes then need charging agian,takes about 30 minute for the charge.
