  • Leave it up to musicians to figure out how to blend country guitar and gospel organ.

  • i used to love this song, it was the B side of Outta Space 45 rpm back in '72

  • I am wondering if he was talking to the great BEATLES.

  • @vexalways Possible, but I doubt that's the case. I think it was for folks who thought they were smarter than him, and could out-do his original ideas, Fab Four were never that stupid!

  • @vexalways Probably not, since George Harrison played the slide guitar on the final cut.

  • great memories when I taped this on my tapoe player off GTK in 72

  • Thanks for the good soul Billy Preston. RIP, that was some good Godspell tinged soul there. Billy sang with great feeling and killed that keyboard.

  • I cant get enough of this song.

  • WOW - Awesome footage. I LOVED this album as a kid of only 10!

  • Thank you for sharing that video

Billy Preston was a master of prefect pitch , before his time as a song writer and the soulfuless musician that ever lived. It's not often that you see him playing the piano let's don't forget those cat's playing in the studio got to love playing with human and not a computer .

    Thanks

  • Now he is in his element...not trying to dance...just showing his prodigious keyboard and vocal talent... This is Mr. Billy Preston...Check out the Bach interlude..Ha Ha...

  • Priceless!!!!!!! thank you!

  • This video has got to be valuable. It certainly not the finished product for an Organ was added in the final mix. I am happy you posted this, it gave me the chance to hear Billy raw. He was a great musician.

  • Billy Preston had a long and illustrious career. He would appear on the Nat King Cole show. He was an acclaimed gospel singer, along with his sister Rodena Preston. He was in the Ray Charles orchestra. He was called the fifth Beatle, when he played and recorded with the Beatles. He played and toured with countless performers. He also was a studio musician. I also was surprised to see Billy dancing on a couple of You Tube videos. He was not motivated by ego, he loved music.

  • Dat boy got soul!

  • I'm searchin for funk like this, meters, billy preston etc.

Especially, I like the songs without vocals.

Would anybody of you like to recommend some artists which I may like, too ?

  • hot gas & the complicated rocks... its kinda obscure

  • Check out Booker T & the MG's, Funk Inc., The JB's, The Counts, Mandrill. If you want more, give me a holler. SoulTooSoul p.s. Check out my site, you can find some pretty interesting and eclectic stuff. Happy hunting.
