@vexalways Possible, but I doubt that's the case. I think it was for folks who thought they were smarter than him, and could out-do his original ideas, Fab Four were never that stupid!
Billy Preston was a master of prefect pitch , before his time as a song writer and the soulfuless musician that ever lived. It's not often that you see him playing the piano let's don't forget those cat's playing in the studio got to love playing with human and not a computer .
If you go to the song Thats the way God planned with Billy at the concert for bangledesh. Bily gets filled with the Holy Spirit singing this song and gets up and slaps his legs and dances. What a beautiful person and He filled with happiness. Thanks you for this cassic video. it looks like a session before the album came out. Drohegda
Now he is in his element...not trying to dance...just showing his prodigious keyboard and vocal talent... This is Mr. Billy Preston...Check out the Bach interlude..Ha Ha...
This video has got to be valuable. It certainly not the finished product for an Organ was added in the final mix. I am happy you posted this, it gave me the chance to hear Billy raw. He was a great musician.
Billy Preston had a long and illustrious career. He would appear on the Nat King Cole show. He was an acclaimed gospel singer, along with his sister Rodena Preston. He was in the Ray Charles orchestra. He was called the fifth Beatle, when he played and recorded with the Beatles. He played and toured with countless performers. He also was a studio musician. I also was surprised to see Billy dancing on a couple of You Tube videos. He was not motivated by ego, he loved music.
Check out Booker T & the MG's, Funk Inc., The JB's, The Counts, Mandrill. If you want more, give me a holler. SoulTooSoul p.s. Check out my site, you can find some pretty interesting and eclectic stuff. Happy hunting.
he died on june 6th, today is june 8th. the music world truly received a gift from the man billy preston. he was a keyboard master and played and sang from the inside of his soul.
This is an amazing song of texture, feeling and emotion. Billy was one of my musical heroes; his music evokes such emotion you can tear up and smile at the same time. Now Thats Real Music!!
Leave it up to musicians to figure out how to blend country guitar and gospel organ.

I'm searchin for funk like this, meters, billy preston etc.
Especially, I like the songs without vocals.
Would anybody of you like to recommend some artists which I may like, too ?
