  • good stuff i liked the flying juji's....

  • @ceroeck thank you!

  • Also, the guys in this video have crazy stamina to be able to constantly be throwing someone of that weight for 4 minutes straight. Impressive cardio.

  • I have a question that is not at all meant to be rude or insulting and if anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it greatly.

Combat Sambo is, from what I understand, the "street" self-defense version of Sambo, and it employs a lot of throws, like the ones in this video.

My question is why? Aren't throws more suited for competitions, and not suited for fighting situations? How can you properly grip and execute a throw when you're being struck with rights and lefts?

  • no no! that's a great question! The "bigger effort" throws are great for developing intensity, control and reactions (think of why Kano likes us to study O-waza) and are excellent for training settings.

for more strictly combatives work, faster trips are switched for the pick-up/hip throws. The Soviets learned a maxim from fighting Red China: when struck, grab; when grabbed, strike

  • @solpapisolmook Though the more complicated throws aren't as effective in a street fight, when you think about it the simpler and quicker throws are very effective. You might get punched a few times but if you can sink in your grip and hip toss someone on a sidewalk that will end the fight right there.

Throws don't look very formidable on the mats but when you introduce the concrete environment their effectiveness is maximized. Bone-crushingly so.

  • @b7i7l7l7y7 Thank you for the information. Now, regarding what you said about these guys' cardio; I agree. I was wondering if you knew of a way to improve cardio because my cardio is utter shit, and I've been training for the past 2 years with hardly any improvement and I don't understand why. I even saw a cardiologist who said nothing was wrong with me. I spent 20 years being lazy, not exercising, and even smoking for 7 but I quit, and I still have no improvement.

    Any advice?

  • @solpapisolmook Just getting the body used to exerting itself to the maximum is a good way to start. Do cardio exercises relatively a few hours before you intend on going to sleep. With that in mind just go all out and use absolutely every ounce of energy you have. You should have to crawl your way into the shower after before you get to bed. Not only will this make your sleep more enjoyable but you'll slowly develop more energy. If your body gets used to that you'll have better cardio hopefully

  • @b7i7l7l7y7 Thanks man.

  • @solpapisolmook I'll just jump in here and say that *sure* we look great in this video, but in other metabolic tests we can look like fools! There is stuff I just fail in, totally!!! Sport-specific training is a difficult matter; it might be why you're not making any progress/improvement. I'm not an expert at all but if a cardiologist is no help, you might need a new "friend" :-)

  • @solpapisolmook No problem, hope your cardio gets better =)

  • Its a very aggressive ankle pick off a split-lunge. Igor showed it to us as a no-gi move. Just use an overhook on the near-arm, hold it tight to your body. An awesome move really...

  • Nice stuff. Sirc says your Oshi sucks

  • "Oshi"? my two-handed chest-push? WTF? Sirc should go back to selling Meth to 12 yr old kids!
