  • You know what? Why do we need amtrak to controll our intercity rail, when you could just do what NJ Transit does.

  • Thank you for sharing this video found it to be very enjoyable. What memories this video brings back when I was living in up state New York. No cars needed just ride the train to where I wanted to go. Again thank you for sharing.

  • DO ACES STELL RUN

  • @SuperNJTRANSIT It runs seasonal, and returns to service tonight, May 13

  • @SuperNJTRANSIT now it does but only seasonaly

  • Did you know?

The ACES was originally called the Blue Comet.

  • You forgot to capture when the train stops at Philly.

  • Nice ride!

  • what i dont understand is how can the NJT ACES go from NY to AC if they are no southbound tracks on the NEC that connects to the tracks that go to AC

  • @nichols15 Train reverses direction at Frankford interlocking. Back in the day, service provided by the PRR to AC used what is now the River line, which was once physically connected at Trenton to the NEC and the ACL in Pennsauken.

  • i dont understand how can the NJT ACES go from NY to AC if they are southbound tracks on the NEC connecting to the AC branch

  • i just never understood why the alp 44 they should just use the genesis engine all around

  • @retroguy1976 Because the ALP-44 is needed to take the train through the tunnel into New York Penn Station; They don't allow diesels to operate through there. If it was a P32AC-DM on ACES it'd work out!

  • I loved it

  • My dad is an engineer for new jersey transit so he used to take us with him to work :D

  • I had no clue that NJT trains have Cafes.

  • @Trainlover4ever2006 only NJT ACES trains have cafes.

  • soooooo wait!!!!!! a lot of ppl say that the alp 44 electric, just acts as a cab car when its out of the electric territory meanin its like a dummy loco right now, but you just said its in MU mode, so im guessing the Alp 44 is still on and is capable of pullin or pushing right in non electric territory??? right?????

  • great video but shore interlocking is in Philadelphia you don't technically leave the city till you pass Torresdale station.

  • @irtr yep that's my station torresdale they pass too.

  • how much was your ticket?

  • Very well done video, the ACES passes by my station here in Egg Harbor City at what I would say from a bi-standers view your estimate of speed is about what I would figure somewhere in the 60-80mph range.

  • Awesome video :-)

  • Great Video

  • What is the average speed of the train? were you able to find out?

  • Not sure. I'd guesstimate at 90-100 on the NEC and 60-80 on the ACL.

  • @TrainiacProductions you are correct with the speeds.

  • Very nice! I still haven't gotten a ride on any of the multi level cars yet. Man that must've been sweet to ride the rails from NY to AC!

  • when you say the electric is in mu mode did u ment to say cab mode meaning the electric is jus acting as a cab car, or is the electric engine is still able to operate by having the diesel powerplant operating the electric loco's traction motors

  • It's acting as a cab car

  • lucky, you live on the Norfolk Southern. i live on the CSX mainline and never see anything but the new YN3 paint scheme on shitty ol' GE power. and i read Conrail was created by teh government to bring rail competition back to the northeast, but i guess that plan backfired, huh? they should of made it merger-proof for like 30 years, so there'd be some variation in what you saw on the rails

  • ok well, have fun

  • hey kyle, you in for going to new brunswick station on monday the 12 with me and a bucnh of other railfans?

  • I'm going to PJC Tuesday, thanks though!

  • what day did you tape this video on?

  • Comment removed

  • Great vid! Keep up the good work.

  • Excellent storytelling!! The whole trip in 10 minutes. Good job..

  • Great video kyle game i wish i could have come i was busy though i would like to meet ya sometime and railfan the corridor. Pm and ill see if me you and matt can all meet on the nec somewere

  • Amazing! I was looking for this one! Great job. (You caught the 4803, the only unit I haven't caught yet). Nice 5 car set behind 4215. That's rare you know. Great job! (was the farm scene near Hammonton? Just to ask).

  • Great stuff, man. Catching 5 Comet cars on an ACL train is rare. The usual max. is 4. Also, the $29 coach fare for one way or round trip? Anyway, 5*, a favorite, and a channel post.

  • What a grate video Kyle!

  • Awesome video, nothing like sitting back and relaxing listening to a smooth K5LA the whole trip, great coverage of the line too!

  • awesome

  • Grade crossings at what MPH? Great video sounds like a great trip. Maybe sometime I'll take a similar trip starting with Amtrak at Harrisburg.

  • I believe around 80, the AC Line is cleared for 80: Between Absecon & Egg Harbor City, EHC & Hammonton, & Hammonton & Lindenwold. I know, I live near the AC Line! (And I got this from an engineer on the AC Line).

  • I've posted two vids of ACES at grade crossings on the AC line, along with a few others. Search ACES and you'll find them. 79mph +/-. Just shot a daylight meet at Cherry Hill that'll be up soon too. Curt 1flyfire8

  • Yeah that's fast and neat. Sometime I'll visit. Thanks.

  • HOW FAST IS THE ACES TRAIN TOP SPEED

  • I would say about 100MPH on the electrified track, and 80MPH on the non-electrified track.

  • that would be 100 mph on the northeast corridor between NYC and frankford junction in philadelphia.and 80 mph on the atlantic city line.

  • Yes, exactly (sorry, I just have the need to reply to every comment that replies one of mine). For a more detailed description, yes.

  • Great job dude. You should do a little promo-video for NJT to help promote this train!

  • Outstanding video buddy. That's some rare footage from the A.C. rail terminal, and great footage all together, and thanks for the message about my channel, it really means a lot to me. I hope to make it to Macungie, Pa and Allentown Yard this Sunday.

    Dan

  • Great trip.

  • This video makes it official. The MBTA comet coaches have the shittiest seats that run on the NEC.

  • Awesome video. Are the ACES bi-levels nicer than the regular NJT bi-levels?

  • Yes, they have leather seating (everywhere)!

  • cool thanks.

  • No Problem.

  • Awesome video!

  • awesome job! seems like a very interesting train! im guessin they had some p42dc's right

  • Nope, P40BH's. NJT bought P40's from Amtrak, and upgraded them to make them NJT compatible. We've got 4, 4800-4803. I've caught all except 4803, which Kyle has.

  • ohhh ok then

  • Great Video!

  • Awesome! What camera did you take this with?

  • Canon SD1000is and Canon SD1100is

  • Are those Powershot cameras?

  • I have no idea lol. But I'm getting a Widescreen Sony Camcorder in a month or so, so Trainiac Productions will be going 16:9.

  • cool I use a Powershot SD1000, a Kodak easyshare C513, & a Canon Elura 100 widescreen camcorder.

  • how much does it cost for a oneway ticket for ACES????

  • CoachClass: $29-$39 (IDK why).

First Class: Current coach fare + $20 (more legroom & leather seats).

    Check acestrain(DOT)com for further info.

  • Nice! Well worth the wait!

  • Incredible footage Kyle! Awesome job! Along with the trains, that lunch looked awesome too!

  • like i was there! very awseome :D

  • great video. There aren't many videos from Atlantic City on trains. But I did hear that there was a DVD on the ACL.

  • There's a cabride video, when the GP40FH-2's & Comet IB's were still a common sight here, and AMTK still ran down here, but nothing sooner, I believe.

  • yes that's the one I was referring to. It would be great if clips could be posted from the movie. Because so many things changed on the ACL since then.

  • I have it, but I am not courageous enough to post it here.

  • Good video. One thing. Conductors don't move trains Engineers do.

  • Thanks! But it was the conductor. He is certified to operate a locomotive.

  • Then he is an engineer/conductor. Hmmm.

  • Nice video! Really interesting!

  • Absolutely amazing! Anyone can shoot a video like this, but only you can profile the trip so wonderfully! Great video!

  • Great video! Loved every second of it.

  • Is that a crossing right there at AC station?

  • yes The AC Station has a crossing right in front of it.

  • It's a really cool crossing too. The problem with it is that it is on a freeway, so it causes massive backups.

  • been waiting for this video since i saw the trailer.

Truly an amazing video and a great inside look on ACES. Thanks so much for the great video's you've made !

How long is the turn around time in AC?

  • Nice. Video. Although I think Acela First Class beats even the first class aboard ACES.

  • Is there any chance of that ACE line will be Electrified? and the rest of the network?

  • nice video of riding the ACES did see a little view of the city of philadlephia?

  • From what I can see here, ACES' bi-level cars are similar to that of Maryland's MARC rail system. Only thing that MARC doesn't offer is food service. However, that doesn't stop the commuters from bringing their own meals on board! I can agree that the seats are MUCH more comfortable compared to the Amtrak Regional coach seats, but then again, a train seat's more comfy than a bus seat! LOL

  • very awesome video kyle

  • Thanks, Corey!

  • your welcome

  • Awesome job on this Kyle!

  • Thanks, Tim!

  • Awesome as usual! But how can you say the ACES is the most luxurious when the Acela Express shares the same line?

  • Thanks! Trust me -- First Class ACES compared to anything on the Acela.. and you'd take ACES.

  • what's he doing at 5:10

  • Not sure, something that had to do with the ditch lights malfunctioning.

  • Inspecting the train for stress cracks.

  • Oh alright, thanks Joe!

  • idk, He opened up a compartment on the nose, what is that?
