Thank you for sharing this video found it to be very enjoyable. What memories this video brings back when I was living in up state New York. No cars needed just ride the train to where I wanted to go. Again thank you for sharing.
@nichols15 Train reverses direction at Frankford interlocking. Back in the day, service provided by the PRR to AC used what is now the River line, which was once physically connected at Trenton to the NEC and the ACL in Pennsauken.
@retroguy1976 Because the ALP-44 is needed to take the train through the tunnel into New York Penn Station; They don't allow diesels to operate through there. If it was a P32AC-DM on ACES it'd work out!
soooooo wait!!!!!! a lot of ppl say that the alp 44 electric, just acts as a cab car when its out of the electric territory meanin its like a dummy loco right now, but you just said its in MU mode, so im guessing the Alp 44 is still on and is capable of pullin or pushing right in non electric territory??? right?????
Very well done video, the ACES passes by my station here in Egg Harbor City at what I would say from a bi-standers view your estimate of speed is about what I would figure somewhere in the 60-80mph range.
when you say the electric is in mu mode did u ment to say cab mode meaning the electric is jus acting as a cab car, or is the electric engine is still able to operate by having the diesel powerplant operating the electric loco's traction motors
lucky, you live on the Norfolk Southern. i live on the CSX mainline and never see anything but the new YN3 paint scheme on shitty ol' GE power. and i read Conrail was created by teh government to bring rail competition back to the northeast, but i guess that plan backfired, huh? they should of made it merger-proof for like 30 years, so there'd be some variation in what you saw on the rails
Great video kyle game i wish i could have come i was busy though i would like to meet ya sometime and railfan the corridor. Pm and ill see if me you and matt can all meet on the nec somewere
Amazing! I was looking for this one! Great job. (You caught the 4803, the only unit I haven't caught yet). Nice 5 car set behind 4215. That's rare you know. Great job! (was the farm scene near Hammonton? Just to ask).
Great stuff, man. Catching 5 Comet cars on an ACL train is rare. The usual max. is 4. Also, the $29 coach fare for one way or round trip? Anyway, 5*, a favorite, and a channel post.
I believe around 80, the AC Line is cleared for 80: Between Absecon & Egg Harbor City, EHC & Hammonton, & Hammonton & Lindenwold. I know, I live near the AC Line! (And I got this from an engineer on the AC Line).
I've posted two vids of ACES at grade crossings on the AC line, along with a few others. Search ACES and you'll find them. 79mph +/-. Just shot a daylight meet at Cherry Hill that'll be up soon too. Curt 1flyfire8
Outstanding video buddy. That's some rare footage from the A.C. rail terminal, and great footage all together, and thanks for the message about my channel, it really means a lot to me. I hope to make it to Macungie, Pa and Allentown Yard this Sunday.
Nope, P40BH's. NJT bought P40's from Amtrak, and upgraded them to make them NJT compatible. We've got 4, 4800-4803. I've caught all except 4803, which Kyle has.
There's a cabride video, when the GP40FH-2's & Comet IB's were still a common sight here, and AMTK still ran down here, but nothing sooner, I believe.
yes that's the one I was referring to. It would be great if clips could be posted from the movie. Because so many things changed on the ACL since then.
From what I can see here, ACES' bi-level cars are similar to that of Maryland's MARC rail system. Only thing that MARC doesn't offer is food service. However, that doesn't stop the commuters from bringing their own meals on board! I can agree that the seats are MUCH more comfortable compared to the Amtrak Regional coach seats, but then again, a train seat's more comfy than a bus seat! LOL
You know what? Why do we need amtrak to controll our intercity rail, when you could just do what NJ Transit does.

What is the average speed of the train? were you able to find out?

Not sure. I'd guesstimate at 90-100 on the NEC and 60-80 on the ACL.

@TrainiacProductions you are correct with the speeds.

HOW FAST IS THE ACES TRAIN TOP SPEED
RIQUESWORLD 2 years ago
I would say about 100MPH on the electrified track, and 80MPH on the non-electrified track.
amtrak60 2 years ago
that would be 100 mph on the northeast corridor between NYC and frankford junction in philadelphia.and 80 mph on the atlantic city line.

Yes, exactly (sorry, I just have the need to reply to every comment that replies one of mine). For a more detailed description, yes.

It's a really cool crossing too. The problem with it is that it is on a freeway, so it causes massive backups.
