It looks like the tattoo he's doing may be something as simple as flowers and vines. A veteran artist wouldn't need a reference picture for something like that. I understand what he means. To become a real tattoo artist you cant go to school for 4 days or whatever the amount of time is. It takes practice and months of training. My dad is a tattoo artist and has been for a while now (years upon years) but his whole tattoo school is a horrible idea. If there is drama in this show it's a lie. There's no drama in tattooing unless you screw up a tattoo. Your not going to have drama in a tattoo shop. You go to work, do art on people, make money, and go home.

In Alberta, we have "schools" that give people 4 or 5 hours in a piece of heavy machinery (backhoe, bobcats, bulldozer etc depending on school). At the end of their $5000-10,000 course, they're given a "Certificate" that means absolutely nothing except that they think they know how to run the machines better than people who have been doing it for years.
I'd hate to see the feeling of self importance a tatooist has after graduating from that school
