  • where exactly was this recital?

  • Arghh he plays this like an absolute beast. Wonderful.

  • The music of a crime movie sex scene

  • FINALLY SOMEONE WHO PLAYS THIS BY HEART !

And it is - who'd a thunk it - the far best performance of this piece on YouTube.

    Thanks.

  • outstanding !

  • God he's hot.

  • Bardzo Bardzo Pięęęęknie Bardzo Najmocniej Kocham Muzykę

  • Pozytywne Fajne 1:0 Perfect Music Bardzo Najmocniej Kocham Muzykę

  • Very Pretty Perfect 6******

  • I love the playing!!! You build the tension so well....

  • @paevo2010

As in the English phrase, "chasing rainbows"... Trying to achieve what can't be achieved...

  • Bardzo Pięknie 5*****

  • 5***** 5***** 5***** 5***** 5*****

  • Ligeti cited the influence of Thelonious Monk and Bill Evans on this piece. The score instructs the player to use swing. Fantastic music!

  • In my opinion, this is the studio's finest Ligeti

  • meraviglioso...

  • He plays this with remarkably sensitive rubato. Really, really, really, really good.

  • the best pianist!

  • this is certainly not an easy song to play and I think Andaloro has talent for memorizing it and playing without error for that crowd. however, I personally have some objections to his dynamic interpretations, especially at the beginning of the piece

  • enfin du steinway pour voir les couleurs !

  • im getting addicted to this kind of music lately...

  • this Étude is gorgeous... absolutely.

  • Middle Class dynamics, then? Wakka, Wakka, Wakka!

  • Yeah, but I like that coldness. Maybe I am stupid, but I like it.

  • Hmm. What do you mean by "coldness"? I've enjoyed the warmth of his performances in this etude and in the Berg Sonata, among others. His Liszt A-major Concerto is truly memorable for its grace. He is very expressive.

  • Sometimes the most beautiful pieces of music are the slowest.

  • Too slow? So I'm guessing you understand the harmony of this piece? That's the complex part...

  • He really is a great interpreter of contemporary and early modern music!

I study piano and I'm searching the sheet of this piece but I can't find it in Germany.

  • man this is really easy to find. You should sarch for "ligeti etudes"...

and you can find too the piece in internet

  • ANDALORO knows what I mean what I say Aimard is KING here. HE certainly has heard Aimard playing live a couple of times and certainly has Pierre Laurent's CD released by Sony Records with Ligeti's 'ouvre' for piano. It's great to see young performers playing Ligeti and other contemporary music composers. I apologize for ANDALORO for the harsh words used on what I believe to be his YT page. For some reason, I started to get attacked by someone for expressing my opinion.

  • as far as what are the things that Aimard does better: first of all, Aimard has an unique tone, not only when he is playing Ligeti, but everything else as well. Andaloro has a much rougher tone, this can be good for energy and intensity, but Aimard takes you to a new sound world that goes way beyond energy. That alone is a huge thing, but perhaps you will consider these things "minor details". Seriously, DO YOU KNOW AIMARD at ALL?

  • I expected much more of his recording of the art of fugue. The las fugue is brilliant, but contr. VII anf XI weren´t what you coul expect from him.

  • Aimard sucks compared to him: Andaloro has thousends different colours that Aimard can't even think about. Sorry for those who are not agree, but it's simply true and must be noticed from someone here, otherwise we mix all stuff, and will never get the right thing and opinion !

  • HAHAHA...what?? "Sorry for those who are not agree, but it's simply true...". Wow...highly democratical ...Please, if you cannot help NOT using words like SUCKS to describe Aimard's playing, then I am pretty sure your opinion lacks a minimum of understanding of what reality is. In other words, i don't care if you live inside your own bubble.

  • What is Aimard's playing like? Elaborate on 'SUCKS' hahah. Justino won't talk to me about music; but you will? :]

  • Andaloro likes to play with extremes, which is nice. He brings his own ideas to these wonderful pieces. I hate to compare interpretations, but Pierre Laurant Aimard is king here.

  • You hate to compare interpretations? What kind of critic are you? Also, after searching for several minutes I cannot find Aimard playing this piece; where is it posted?

  • Jesus Christ milord ! You are one hot bubble of anger waiting for a poke from a stick like me. But you're besides the point; tell us all why Aimard is better :]

  • Oh but I do. 'I hate to compare interpretations' - No you don't. This is just a bunch of meaningless bullshit that's meant to somehow show your consideration for the people you'll be flattening when you tell them Aimard is 'king here', because, yes, what God says is absolute, and you, my friend, are God.

  • dude, sarcasm is not for everyone, but keep trying it. If you disagreed with my opinion, you should be DECENT enough to BUY Aimard's CD. But no, you are CHEAP, you would spend your life in front of youtube watching videos and criticizing people who has AN OPINION about things. I OWN Aimard's CDs, I've seen him playing live several times, including these great Ligeti Etudes. Now, go back to your hole and stay there. I am not WASTING more time with you.

  • So many prejudgements. You didn't anwer my question; what are the things that Aimard does better?

  • How can I disagree when I've never heard Aimard? You, Justino, 'would' assume the worst of me so that you can leave an angry and exultant comment on youtube [exultant by putting me below yourself]. And talking of wasting time, I'm leaning this piece as we speak, which is the only reason I came across your comments. So why dont you prove your metal by educating me as to what it is about Aimard that is better than Andaloro? If you are literate enough.

  • if you are from UK, you should have a better understanding of the english language than me. First of all, english is not my first language (thank God, i.e. thank myself), but when I reply to a person who says Aimard SUCKS, you want me to be gentle and polite. Give me a break. GOOD LORD, you are learning this piece and don't even BOTHER BUYING AIMARD's CD?? Does your entire life depend on youtube videos?? GO BACK to my FIRST comment and you will see that I am not attacking Andaloro. Get a life.

  • and to know that I wasted all this time with you just to confirm that YOU DO NOT HAVE THE SLIGHTEST IDEA of whom Aimard is. Instead, you wanted to dispute my opinion even knowing that YOU ARE the one who's incapable of making any comments about the pianists. No wonder why you didn't comment on my take on tone and energy. Obviously you have no idea of what I am talking about. Please, don't play this music. You will never get it.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHHA Justino you idiot. I've been asking you to describe Aimard all this time BECAUSE I've never heard him, and it took you this long to notice my questions. Look back, they're all there. So tell me more about him? 'Energy' is a very vague and wide-spanning term, and you haven't commented on any particular section of this piece in comparison to Andaloro. Please do.

'Incapable of making any comments' - you are one prejudgemental waste of time.

  • hey asshole, if there is one idiot here, it's probably you father. Call the stupid people who brought you to the world idiots, but do not call me idiot. You don't know me, asshole. You are a loser, do you really think I will waste time commenting on :a particular section of this piece" with YOU????/ HAHAHAHAH...get a life, moron.

  • You've wasted enough time argueing with me; maybe a few lines of your musical understanding wouldn't hurt?

  • 'You don't know me' either. I know this much about you: you just called my parents [who's names you don't even know] idiots on a big public website, while in the same paragraph telling me that I Don't Know You! Hahahahhaa - indicates a certain level of stupidity to me...

  • orrendo insensibile superficiale.

  • orrendo insensibile superficiale pestato.

  • manca "geniale"

  • yes I know. But I know this study by heart and the two hands don't go together even when they should.

I know that pianists usally use this technique, but too much it becomes monotonous

  • favoloso e anche il tempo e il suono lo sono grande erede di sergio fiorentino

  • Rainbow: The more you run to it the more it runs away from you. Great music, great pianist.

  • ligeti is fabulous and what talented pianist, andaloro is amazing
