the godfather should have won best film editing as well. if u watch the sequence where michael's nephew is baptized and the heads of the five families are murdered is the greatest piece of film editing ever.
The Oscar for Best Director to Bob Fosse is well deserved, The Godfather is a great movie, but Cabaret is more than a musical, is a very artistic movie, however... The Godfather Part II is better
@Stephanie3189 Shelley Winters for this role? She does give a magnificent performance in "Next Stop, Greenwich Village". However, she was not nominated for the Oscar for this film because she insisted on being nominated in the Best Actress category. Clearly, it was a supporting performance. Too bad. Otherwise, I think she might have won.
Best Picture: "The Godfather"; Best Director: Francis Ford Coppola ("The Godfather"); Best Screenplay: "The Godfather"); Best Actor: Al Pacino ("The Godfather"); Best Actress: Diana Ross ("Lady Sings the Blues"); Best Supporting Actor: Robert Duvall ("The Godfather"); and Best Supporting Actress: Jeanne Berlin ("The Heartbreak Kid").
@cinerama180 the song is correct. is The morning after, from "the poseidon adventure". the song from the towering inferno is " we may never love this way again" also performef by maureen McGovern.
@Snako85 Pacino had much more screen time than Brando and he should have been nominated (and won, in my opinion) in the Best Actor category. At the time, Pacino was little known and subjugated to the supporting category so Brando could win the Oscar. Apart from that, I certainly have no problem with Brando's win. His is a great performance.

@ThomasDeCosteTV Yes, I know that. What's your point?

@PhilipWunelle Against The Godfather, it didn't stand a chance. Just about any other year, Cabaret would have won it, going away.
