im from america... i wish bagpipes were more famous over here... i think it would be amazing to learn how to play them... i play the trumpet somewhat but i think i would so much more rather play the bagpipe...
@BUGWEZZY idk where u live, duh, but see if there are any local pipe and drum bands in your area. i'm sure someone in the band would be happy to teach you some basics
Life is the most important thing you can have,Horrors happens during wars,it has happen for decades or even centuries, but Heroes were born as well, like the helicopter pilot,a world in peace would be the best thing to have but is an uthopia, they are three types of soldiers who fight a war,the blood thirsty beasts who kill for fun,the average soldier who kills to live or to protect ,and the Heroes like the helicopter pilot.like you mentioned before, all life is sacred.
Not all of the soldiers are mean you know, not every one is bad,we are human beings,we're not all the same, look most of the people think that every soldier that fought in Vietnam were beasts but just take look at the Mai Lai massacre, some soldiers stood against others who were murdering innocent people.
I'm english, but the bag-pipes do the whole of the UK proud, i love visiting Edinburgh, and as soon as you step off the train, you are greeted by the sound of bagpipe players ... Amazing x
can your "kings" play pipes? if not, I'm entitled to pipe culture more than them...are you actually from the UK? I am...moved to the US 2 years ago for school
this is what you call a song it gives me shivers every time i listen to this song but not on any instrument just the bagpipes and drums. I almost brings a tear to my eye cause this song is always played on a Canadian solder's death its so sad, And played on remembrance day.
Do you honestly think that because this is of Scottish origin that it doesn't touch American lives? If you feel that no foreign customs should be allowed in America, then what are we as a country?
Our national identity is all-inclusive. Maybe you should think before you talk.
My dad's from scotland his dad and my great grandfather were in the RAF. this one of the best pipe songs ever.Come on my last name's Murdoch how much more Scottish can you get?
because bagpipes are in alot of ppls heritages. including most of mine(except me dad) they rock and also y do we got soccer...this is the us not mexico...exactly
Why was my comment marked down it was a joke lol, btw its Wales not Whales lol, and I was joking as Bagpipes are more Scottish than anything(hence the kilts and tartan)
i think it is a good way to let your emotions out for the one you loss in and out of time of grieff. It make evryone think on how people are fell when they do not even show their emotions to other when they lose some one or bring a family even close to one another. great vidoe for this song.
as i am a scotish man i have to say that this is some of my family's best music!this song has been used around the world by us scotts this is also known as the freedom song
And when police officer or firefighter dies this song is almost 100 % played what a moarvolus song it is... I am not scotish but I was born in America
hey whats up guys iam scottish but i don play the bag pipes little history leason here. When the scots were fighting the germans in ww1 i think it was 1 scottish guy got out the trench and stood in the middle and started to play amazing grace on the bagpipes and the germans on the other side ran away in fear. History lesson over ;)
that is true. there is a piper here at Fort Benning that will stand at the flage pole and play that tune every day around 8 am. the bagpipe will get anyone to stop what their doing and listen. its just wonderful
I play the bagpipes and this year was soooo didferent as after i finish playing the sound carried through that air and i mad people cry and wierd thing is that i cryied myself, so if ya play it right at anzac there is a strange feelin in the air.
Reread my comment, please... Do you understand now? It is not at all about the song any more, its about people getting off track, way the hell off track. No one else will listen to 'em so they have to resort to posting off topic stuff. Believe me i treasure this song and have heard it many times on occasions that press my heart and soul to sorrow as well to great joy at the very tune of its beauty. The bagpipes themselves represent a long history and pride for many as well as me.
I do realize what you mean.. i sooo sorry.. but i have relatives in the milatary and war.. and my whole family LOVES this song... i guess i just didnt fully understand what you meant.... SRY!!!
Hipocampelfantocame.. Other than a small choke at the beginning of the tune, (which I've heard from some of the worlds top pipers). All I heard here was a microphone too close to the piper play harmony. Perhaps you should take another listen.
I love bagpipe music. Having said that, I think it's safe to say that there is no way that Congress is going to declare war in our lifetime. Congress has not declared war since December 8, 1941. It didn't even declare war on Germany. If it didn't declare war on Germany, North Korea, or North Vietnam, or Iraq in 1991, it sure as hell isn't going to declare war now. And neither George Bush nor anyone else on this planet could force its hand.
so sad, such a beautiful song. Its a shame its usually played at such a sad time. My heart goes out to all the fallen servicemen and women who are fighting for us both on the frontline and at home.
Give me a break. I've been to Scotland... I know they have book stores there. You should swing by one and grab something called a "History Book." You'd be speaking German right now if it weren't for us. Dudelsackpfeifen anybody?
No offense taken. Why in the world would we take offense to a closed minded person of any nation. But hey, I guess not every country can call themselves the "Melting Pot" of the planet. Don't worry... we'll still let you guys watch our movies and back out of our wars.
Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some 1920's trading cards of musical instruments, including the bagpipes.
You should see the Bags and Pipes of the Chicago Police Department. They played "amazing grace" in Monaco. They're top notch! No offense, but better than these guys. Go to their website and click on "Media."
