  • ALL you Bafoons talkin trash about Kenny G.

The internet has only given a voice to the mentally lame and untalented people of the world, to spew their unintelligent rants. Smarten up folks! and go back to your ordinary work-a-day lives.

    Morons.

  • @jackzango Judging by your argument, you don't have the right to speak either. Besides, because he's famous doesn't mean he's good, just like many other popular artists today. And it's not exactly a secret that any intelligent saxophonist who knows anything at all about his instrument knows that Kenny G is the worst famous saxophonist of all time.

  • Not cool

  • Hello guys!! We should use our talent and share it. Not for boasting!!!

  • 'Give yourself about ten years to learn that part'

Learnt that part in an afternoon K'dawg... Jus' sayin!

  • OMGGGGGG <3

  • What a boss.

  • i use rico royals and vandorens haha they are the same except vandorens are harder haha

  • I don't know why you all hate the Ricos, I use the Rico Royals and they sound amazing, way better than the Vandorens. By the way, I use them across four instruments, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto Sax, and Tenor Sax. Just saying.....

  • @cmcnabblss

I play Alto, Tenor, Bari, and Soprano Sax, along with Trumpet, Trombone, Sousaphone, Tuba...

Oh, and Bass Clarinet, Alto clarinet, Clarinet... Xylophone, various Percussion instruments...

Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass... Harp, Piano, OH and I sing.

So by that logic I'm one thousand times more qualified than you are, right?

That's why I endorse using Van dorens.

Anywho, if you support Rico and/or Kenny, no competent musician will respect you. Sorry.

  • @busterbrownation I did not say that I was more qualified than any other person here, everyone has they're own opinion about music, it's just for my case at my school, everyone thinks Ricos suck, when someone who uses Rico Royals (me), can achieve a better tone, over someone who uses Vandorens. Also, if someone judges another person because they "use the rico brand", or "like Kenny G", until you have actually heard them play just shows that person why they might not have respect as a musician.

  • @busterbrownation I bet you're reeeaaallly good at all of those too!

  • first, take 5 years to learn how to soak your reed. then it will take you another 5 years to learn how to place it on the mouthpiece correctly. man, classicism is a bitch!!!!

  • I don't really understand why people are disliking this video. Sure, you may not like Kenny G, or Ricco that much, but that doesn't detract from the lesson the video teaches. Also, I'm almost entirely sure that I ate at least two boxes of those "orange box" reeds in my first month of trying to learn alto.

  • Yea so i don't really have 10 years....

  • rico reserves are actually pretty good

  • Regular Rico reeds suck, but La Voz and The Plasticover reeds are pretty awesome.

  • This will not take you 10+ years mabey a few months

  • I'm not big Kenny G fan, but there isn't a single person in this thread that can outplay him. What a bunch of yahoos!

  • kenny g is a PHONY notice how he never breathes when he plays. if ur looking 4 a REAL sax player check out boney james he's a monster!!!!!!!!

  • Kenny G, you are a wonderful clarinetist including your circular breathing technique..

I also practiced it from 1939 as a teen-ager & later I made a record at Nola studio.

I may play it in the near future for I was one ofthe first to play it on the clarinet.

    Ciao ..Theresa Celi D'Antoni .

  • 10 years? haha!!^.^

  • "Give yourself about 10 years to get that part" lmfaooo no big deal

  • @rmalvaro lol i know I love how he just casually says it

  • i learned how to do it randomly 2 months ago

  • "In 1997, a Guiness World Record was set for longest held musical note. Kenny G used circular breathing to sustain an E-flat on a saxophone for 45 minutes and 47 seconds.[1]"

    HOLY MOTHER OF GOD

  • of course flute players can do it, dumbass.

  • @Riase5 But far more difficult. That's why he can't be sure that flute players can use circular breathing.

  • i just cant do it!! its like impossible :(

  • Rico makes great reeds, but getting Kenny G to endorse them won't do them any justice.

  • wtf crazy ass running at the end. fucking awesome

  • it took me less then a year to learn this, well, AND be able to play it with runs and perform while using it. i dont see whhat makes it so hard. and im only 15. i know i see a lot of this type of comment on utube ("im 12 and can play better then kenny G") and they sure as hell are unbelievable, but trust me.. its true for me

  • this is not a lesson on how to do it... so stupid

  • @pollock338 It's basically an advertisement for shitty rico reeds

  • Not gonna lie... this took me like 2 days to learn.... not 10 years. Dont tell us your lies Kenny G!

  • @ribler15 naw, it was flu season dont worry,

  • @TeamChesnutRice dont worry, it was just too many morning marching band practices with out a coat (we went to state finals :P)

  • i used to be able to circular breathe withe the clarinet then i got sick and when i recovered, i couldn't do it anymore, and i kinda forgot how..

  • @TeamChesnutRice Does circular breathe cause sickness ? what kind of sickness you got ?

  • is that a cannonball soprano?? DO THEY EVEN MAKE THOSE?!? tht would b awsome.. i bet they do.

  • just for the record, by ok, he means ok by professional standard. I mean, come on, by ok, do you honestly think that he would mean ok as in "just about able to do it"?

  • it only took 20 years....

  • 10 minutes Kenny G !

  • Wait , i play flute . What am I doing here ?

  • i need the PDF asap!

  • Rico's garbage, VAN DOREN!!!

  • took me six months, kenny g. and im going to use it for things you completely lack the imagination for. and im only 22. im comin for you.

  • @shankbone01 do you happen to be a girl?

  • I am going to figure out how to do this on the trombone.

I manage the "drinking straw in water" exercise fairly well, but I can't for the life of me manage to play notes while I do it.

  • what a CocoNUT

  • I had a stuffy nose.... : (

  • Greetings Kenny, I want to ask in the video the second time you play, the fast, study or lesson is that? where it, or you can send it to me to my email

    many thanks

    Luis

  • มันเป็นเทคนิก การระบายลมของไทย นิ

  • I learned how to do this in ten minutes I'm only in fifth grade and I play alto sax thanks Kenny G

  • @SuperStuff42 suuuuurrrreeee. (no one believes you, herp derp)

  • Flute players can't, I guess I wasted my time... :(

  • Rico reeds suck.Vandoren reeds are really nice.

  • @MikeWJones1497 Sorry you're upset with our products. If you would elaborate on your concerns, we'd be more than happy to help try and remedy the issue. Send me a message here on YouTube. Thanks.

  • @ReedsRico They still suck there cheap and wear away to much you people over there need to use a better wood/bamboo somthing that is harder lasts longer but retains quality dont be cheap

  • @ReedsRico LOL it dont matter what kinda instrument u use.... it's the persons skill HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH u two are idiots to fight over what brand to use. U WILL NEVER BEAT KENNY

  • First you said ten years to learn this and then u said i dunno if flutes can do this do you know what u did?!?! YOU CRUSHED MY DREAMS!!!!!!!!! =(

  • @flutefairy3334445556 10 years is greatly exxagerated. But i doubt that flutes can do it, unless you can figure out a way to use only low amounts of air.

  • Rico Reeds? Really?

  • @sr14225

Eventually you learn that a reed's quality and origin mean nearly nothing when you're looking for a particular sound. My general feeling has always been to use whatever the hell works, no matter what. If you have to go out and shave a piece of wood off of a tree and it gives you the tone you're looking for, then for god's sake do it. This is especially true when using mouthpieces that are particularly reed-temperamental. (Like my bari Berg Larsen 110/0. That thing was such a bitch).

  • @UltimoDestructo94 Actually, I agree. I mentioned it because the music snobs at the local school district won't let their clarinet students get rico reeds. They say they are not good enough. I use rico reeds for my beginners all the time and I will either use rico royal or vandoren zz reeds on my saxes.

  • @sr14225 Many people just know us as "orange box" student reeds, but we actually have great professional jazz and classical lines for alto, tenor, bari, and soprano sax that great players like Kenny G use!

  • @ReedsRico The last part just reinforces his point even more.

  • @jazzbuckeye You don't have to like Kenny G, but I think he deserves respect for his command of the instrument and success.

  • @ReedsRico his tone sucks ass there are people in my high school band that have better tone and playing ability then that hack....

  • @sparten17708 Tone is a very subjective and personal thing. You are absolutely entitled to dislike Kenny G's tone. Out of curiosity, what specifically don't you like about it?

  • @ReedsRico its not stable and its quite nasally sounding hes only famous for being famous lol i hate the guy but to each there own

  • @sparten17708 its the recording man.....I wanna see you do that better....

  • @ReedsRico 1. Kenny G has no "command" of his instrument. Charlie Parker had COMMAND of his instrument. For someone like you who obviously plays saxophone (guessing from your name) I shouldn't have to tell you that. 2. His success is not from him being a good musician or being creative on any level. It's exclusively from non-musical people who think its "relaxing" or "soulful." He's a hack. Now I'm gonna go listen to some Pat Metheny, excue me.

  • @PeyotePaul I'm sorry, but if you can't even spell "excuse" correctly, you should not talk bad about something you don't even know the slightest idea about.

  • @0BearNaughty0 please tell me, I´m dying to know... what is creative about what Kenny G does?

  • @0BearNaughty0 If your telling me that I don't know what I'm talking about because I said Charlie Parker is better than Kenny G maybe you shouldn't be alive. I'll tell you what I do know. If you listen to Kenny G and call it jazz you probably suffer from mild to severe mental retardation.

  • it took him 20 years....and on a soprano sax... ouch

  • "give yourself time to learn that for ten years" are you kidding me...NO

  • yeah right...does smokers have a chance to learn sax?...its been a ten years of smoking...

  • @adonizvain charlie parker always smoked.

  • 20 years?! Come on, I could do it within 5 minutes of trying - with no help from a teacher or anyone. Give it a try, people, you never know.

  • @cimarosabunnies do it at his speed. then come back and tell me about it :P

  • @UnusedFilms What do you mean by "his speed?" I can do it just fine, only difference is my c. breathing is silent; I don't make a huge snort-gasp sound when inhaling.

  • @cimarosabunnies I tought you did it on brass, cause on brass it's another deal, Cause it did took me alot of time to get that right. on woodwinds, it's way easier. The sound was on purpose, so you could hear i'm breathe btw.

  • I play on french horn in a college, and one of my class mates (plays on horn but 3 years higher than me) can do the circular brathing...and it took lets say,few years (1 or 2 :D)

  • Steve Grossman, Check Six!!

  • IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A MORE FRUITFUL PERCEPTION FOR THE PUBLIC, IF YOUR MESSAGE HAVE NOT CARRIED THE INTENDED INTENSION IN ITSELF; BUT, THANKS FOR THE INFO.

  • i got it in 5 minutes... beeyyaatch!!!!!!!!!

  • I've NEVER been a fan of smooth jazz or whatever u want to call his bulk of music but u can't deny his ripping chops. I'd love to hear him play at some heavy fusion material -

  • @zoozazoot or even some hard bop.

  • that shit is hard man, especially on oboe

  • @mhlover89 Who is Kate Perry?

  • Comment removed

  • THATS NOT EASY!!

  • 2 1/2? pussy lol

  • SHUT UP KENNY G

  • ive been always able to do this since i was born. just not on a damn saxophone

  • wow, twenty years to learn circular breathing? That must be because you are not a real saxophonist. I learned it, in a month, from barely functional, to being able to perform Le Api, on soprano.

  • @iherbon if it took you a month than i bet your intonation sounds like a dog's anus farting into a sax

  • @iherbon he means 20 to perfect it u cnt perfect anything without time taking

  • "see how easy it is!" lol

  • all i wanted was a reed!

  • after i saw this vid it only took me 20 mins, no joke

  • @sparta435 - yea same, only difference is i cant play a wind instrument progressively cos i cant push the air out hard enough to make a noise when i breath in through the nose

  • 20 years? saw this vid. nailed it.

  • My problem is that I can´t do it while playing a saxophone. I have learned to do it without a sax (after 4 months practice), but I have to blow my cheeks really big to make it work, or else I loose air too quickly and it doesn´t flow. HELP ANYONE? :)

  • ...I came here simply to check out the rating, and dear GOD. These can't be real, serious saxophone players talking about how good a musician he is. He's flat, ALWAYS. He's got a stupidly spitty tone. He plays out of the corner of his mouth like a nincompoop and is, at best, a pop musician. You saxophonists should be ashamed. Larry Teal would be disgusted.

  • @TonyEatsPonies What makes the fact he's a pop musician a bad thing? If his goal was to be good at straight ahead jazz, then he'd be good at it. I know plenty of saxophone "greats" that have pitch problems and poor technique yet they aren't bashed like kenny g. Straight ahead jazz musicians need to realize that straight ahead jazz isn't "the shit". There's a reason why kenny g is making big money and other players aren't. Kenny G plays music people like. What's so bad about that?!?

  • @ratiocinativeness Kenny G is bashed because of his poor technique and pitch more often than jazz musicians with the same problem because he's simply more well known. I'm not just comparing him to jazz players, anyway; I'm comparing him to players like Don Sinta, Tim McAllister, Nobuya Sugawa, and Claude DeLangle. I just take issue with the fact that people who have no idea what good saxophone playing sounds like laud Kenny as a saxophone great.

  • Twenty years to get it.. okay? :O And he played without even flinching or looking at his fingerings... -_____- curse his skills!!! I want themm... T^T

  • cool that is so cool ama try that

  • This man knows.

  • What was that rift that he played at the end called?

  • What if your nose is stuffy.... cause you have hay fever ? ;P

  • @originalmusicworks lol, im with you on that brotha

  • Few things... Yes you can get it quickly... it took me a month, but you don't have to be an ass like the guy below me. Also, not all Rico reeds suck... Just because it's what you began with doesn't mean they're junk. I switched from Vandoren javas to Rico Hemkes and it sounds a lot better now.

Third thing on a less serious note, you may not like him, but at least he's one of the best soprano players I've heard that wasn't Asian. XD

  • hahaha sucks for you guys im a natural . i already did this without being taut i naturally did this without realizing it . im special !!! i

  • FUCK TEN YEARS

  • "it only took it 20 year to do it okay :3"

  • Hemke reeds ftw!

  • it only took all of my childhood and my virginity to get it ok?

  • I learned it in like 10 months..............

  • Heya see how easy it is boy he is funny

  • Well fuck that noise. Imma go pick up my bass.

  • He kicked ass on SNL

  • I bought a didgeridoo, and said "screw it, i'll try to learn circular breathing." 10 years later: Trust me, it's no easy process. A lot depends on the back pressure of the instrument, and since some didgeridoos won't have a lot of back pressure, it can be difficult to sustain a note with the 'cheek air' whist breathing in. Clear nasal passages also help a lot, and it can be tricky to synchronize the depression of your cheeks with the inhalation and re-breathing. Don't give up!! Trial and error!

  • ...I was not expecting Kenny G to be hilarious.

  • its easier to just play a hammond organ

  • Ok dude, thanks a lot.

  • only ten more years until he can play dynamically....

  • give yourself ten years to do that. LOL

  • i have to use plastic reeds because my lips are allergic to the wood reeds... still mine are made by rice :D

  • @zdarknes72 ha im allergic to everything thank God not my reeds tho

  • @AltoTenorBariSax2 yea i actually really wish i had the opportunity to have the tone of a wood reed still :/

  • I can do that..

  • "flute players I don't know if you can do it" try telling that to Roland Kirk.

  • ctfxc hinted me here lol

  • your a fucking fag kenny

  • Eww... Rico reeds rly... No offense but they SUCK! NEVER use a rico reed.

  • I learned circular breathing in 15 minutes of practicing. For everyone who doesn't know how to do it yet, the best way to learn is to fill your full cheeks with water and spit it all out while you are breathing in by your nose. If That works go practicing with just air. All you have to learn to control is going from blowing air with your lungs to blowing air with your cheeks and back to lungs. Do That all witout stopping between and you can start to try and control it on your instrument. :) i h

  • show off...

  • I am a professional didgeridoo player since almost 20 years and this video is a good example that it´s NOT THE CHEEKS that push the air out (does anyone see Kennys cheeks moving?), it is mainly a TONGUE PUSH;-)

  • @didgesbrew and you can learn it in some hours to weeks and not 10 years;-)

  • "It only took about twenty years to get it... okay."

    ..........

Are you fucking me. Are you fucking me?

  • Just learned this in two weeks. IN YOUR FACE KENNY!

  • the end just scared me

  • Great, great, great \º/

  • Honestly, this sounds painful.

  • Dear Andromedarr the cheeks are used as bellows to create a continuous flow of air out of the mouth(exhalation) and if done through a wind instrument, a constant sound is produced by a technique commonly called circular breathing. However constant sounds can also be produced while singing, whistling and even didge playing by sounding on both the EXHALATION and INHALATION. This is another type of circular breathing that ensures a constant sound and something which is not difficult to master

  • Ahaha Kenny G's voice sounds exactly like I thought it would....

  • Lol, this is just a RICO commercial. LMAO RICO SUCKS

  • you're my idol! :D I love youu

  • it took him 20 years to get it ''okay''?? Oh that's cool, I don't plan on die so soon

  • OMG my saxophone teacher's teacher was fredrick L hemke!!! i use those reeds too!!! im for real!!

  • am i play saxophone alt since 6 years and i tried circular breathing my teacher showed me how and i teached it in 1 week with 1 note

  • Hello Kenny would just like to point out that circular breathing is possible with any wind instrument. In addition circular breathing or more accurately uninterrupted sound production is also possible with whistling and singing

Yours in breath and rhythm Bruce Copley, Cape Town, South Africa

  • @BruceCopley It is impossible when singing, and very hard to do while whistling (there is little to no backpresure and your tongue has to be ina specific position) and with instruments with low back pressure and high air consumption (for example Flutes)

  • you can do it on flute. muuch harder, though.

  • 91 people got frustrated because they couldn't circular breathe

  • the first time his voice...

  • bravo! kenny

  • i learn this in one day xD

  • i CAN DO THAT ON A FUCKING TROMBONE. IT TOOK ME ONE FUCKING YEAR >.>

  • only 20 years? I got it in a month... me and everyone I know

  • he doesnt know how to be a humild person thats the reason he suck!!!!!!!!

  • Douche bag

  • I'd call him a douche, but he'd probably pronounce it doo-shay. pretentious tard
