  • Love this song.

I remember when it came out.

Maybe it sounds like a woman but so do the BEE Gees.

    Does anyone agree with me???

Makes no diff===still great music in those days and still is.

Then there is Tracy Chapman--I always thought that was a guy singing but love that song of hers.

  • Yep it's a guy. I remember seeing him on American Bandstand & then went out & bought the record. Robin was in the musical Hair...one of the road casts I think.

  • Hearing DJ Ron Lundy talk up this song on the way to a wedding in NEw Jersey..

  • Wow this takes me back!! :) Thanks!

  • @TheMicheleHolland -you're welcome!

  • Awesome song!!!

  • Honey dog gone it ,I depend upon it:)) Great post *****

  • It's Great!!!!

  • Hey "rwells47" this is a man.

  • @KiraKisa100- I know, if you read below in the discussion you will see that I said -"actually this is a man singing!" Ron

  • @KiraKisa100 It's a man ...but sure does sound like a woman.

  • I did drive, and still do to this day, my high school Heavy Chevy, I actually found the car I drove back in 1976, and restored it. And not kiss UNTIL marriage???? please!!!!

  • OK, my oldest brother says "sure" He remembers Robin McNamara on the HS soccer team. Whenever he had the ball, everyone would start singing his songs. But he knew Robin's group as the "Rockin' Ramrods".

  • Also, "Joey", was it? From the TV show "Friends" graduated from my High School. Newton North High, in 1984 or 1985 or something like that. In 1963-65 there was 1 H.S.. A little later they had 2.. Newton North (same place) and Newton South on the south side of the city (it was smaller).

Also, the actress Bette Davis went to Newton High School for only her Sophmore year I think it was. She didn't graduate from there. My father may have been in school with her. I'll have to check on that.

  • Just Googled him. Crap!!!! That's what I thought!!! I thought he was from around here. He's from my HOME TOWN for christ sake!!!! Newton, Mass. Just west/next to Boston, where Boston College is actually located (Chestnut Hill is a section of Newton AND the town of Brookline, adjoining). Born in 1947, crap!!! He's old. Thought he was younger. Same year my oldest brother born. Wonder if he graduated Newton High? Would have been same year as my bro, 1965. I'll have to ask him.

  • Not long ago I heard this song on the radio and I nearly hit a tree I was rockin so hard and singing so loud to it, now I can safely wail at home. Thanks for the upload!

  • the firet time i heard yhis song i ways driving down 99 on may way 2 mather AFB 2 report in and i loved it i thought she was black what a voice .

    .

  • @michael70224- actually this is a man singing!

  • @rwells47 I thought it was a women also ..and that was after watching the video of "him" on Youtube. Gender identity issues abound with him. great song though!

  • Loved it then, love it now. xo

  • OMG The 70s had the best music!!

  • Songs don't get more fun than this!

  • MrHevychevy, Wildwood is the best, way better than Ocean City, Avalon, or even Atlantic city. Great summers there on the board walk and the beach with the A.M. radio.

  • I remember this song from when I was VERY young... I never knew what the singer looked like...

  • bring back the 70s please!!! If only

  • A good good good oldie. A very good year.

  • In the summer of 1970, I was making out with a girlfriend in the sand, on a beach on the Mississippi river along with probably 5 other couples, we were all 15 or 16. and this song was playing on our transistor radio, a warm summer night, we even stole some beer from the adult parents nearby, after they had all fallen asleep. As innocent as it gets, growing up in the late 60's early 70's. Thanks for the wonderful memories!!!!

  • @MrHevychevy-you are very welcome!

  • @MrHevychevy

Awesome story! I hahve a real similar one on the great beach of Wildwood New Jersey!!! What great memories!

  • @MrHevychevy

Awesome story! I have a real similar one on the great beach of Wildwood New Jersey!!! What great memories!

  • @MrHevychevy Did you drive a Heavy Chevy? A guy in high school drove one and of course was a big man on campus for having that car. The other popular cars then were the Mustang Mach I and the Plymouth 'Cuda (Barracuda), if you recall.

  • @MrHevychevy i though in the 60's and early 70s folks did not kiss until marriage

  • @MrHevychevy The same thing was happening up in the Pacific Northwest .. don't you love it? Look how music can hold a nation together.

  • Would make more sense if he has said, "Mama don't ya hoard it, I depend upon it..."

  • This has better sound quality but you don't get to see the live dance moves. Thanks for posting cuz there was a need, regardless.

  • Ok i'm gonna show my age, but this takes me back to jr high dances...what a hoot!!! Thanks for the memories!!!!

  • @phylwho

i'm showing my age too but I'm so glad I grew up in the best era ever for music! God, love & rock & roll!!

  • Hey Lyn: Remember this old goodie? LOL

  • Robin McNamara was a cast member of the Broadway musical" Hair", playing the lead role of Claude from 1969 through 1971. Thanks for the upload. I totally forgot this single until i found this.

  • @DannyBkyn - you're very welcome! Ron

  • ~ love this happy toe tappin' ditty :)

  • The great summer of 1970, forty years gone. The summer of my first rock concert, 3 Dog Night, flying high with their #1 hit, "Mama Told Me Not To Come."

But this was the big pop/bubblegum favorite of that great year in Top 40 music.
