  • this room is bad because you got the cheapest room on station. there are better rooms

  • @shemrooh we traded our timeshare @ Seascape for this on RCI. Bad decision. Tomorrow we head for Seascape.

  • @shemrooh i agree. i think you might even be in the time share that my parents own. we have both sides but we rarely go anymore. that little side room that you stayed in is the extra room that we shared when we had guests come with us. grant it i haven't been there in a long time but when we did go it was nice. not fancy but spacious (4 kids 4 adults) and it was a fun place to stay with an indoor and out door pool, tennis courts, basket ball courts, and by the beach & sound.

  • @TheCravers3 probably but you get bit by so many things on the OBX that you don't even notice. I'll be down there in a week so I'll take a look. Hanging here in Boston for a few days though.

  • Many updates have taken place at Barrier Island Station in Duck, and they are continuing in 2011. The indoor and outdoor pools have been updated, exterior building renovation projects are underway, new linens and towels added to the units, remodeled rec center to include a WiFi access point, new poolside gazebo, and more. Hope this helps!

  • @RTompkins4 It is about time, the place was a ghetto when we were there. One thing they really need to add is a fire sprinkler system as the place is built with what is now very dry wood and with the Carolina winds, one spark and va rooom.

  • Many updates have taken place at Barrier Island Station in Duck, N.C. This includes work on the indoor and outdoor pools, new towels and linens added to the units, some exterior renovation projects, WiFi access point added in the rec center, remodeled rec center, outdoor pool gazebo has been replaced, and the work continues in 2011. Hope this helps!

  • It's nice living here, so I don't have to worry about that crap. :) Sorry you got stuck with that. For the amount of people we have in the summer, you'd think they'd spend a little more money on making the resort a little nicer. But then again, maybe it'll scare off some of the traffic I have to drive through every day going to Corolla.

  • @cornychicknc Oh, I hope you know I think Duck and the northern banks are great. This resort looked like a fire hazard to me. One spark and I'm on the 3rd floor? Yeah, anyone staying here eeds to look cafefully ath the site map and specifics. Nice beach location but all in all, a 1970's resort. Not even wireless.

  • This is the exact unit my family stays in; the EXACT one. But we use the A & B unit. So we get the big kitchen in A for family dinners. Too bad you got stuck with just a B unit.

  • wow, what are the odds of that? We traded our 2br 2ba at Seascape for this 2 years ago. This year we traded it for the Mayan Palace in Mexico which was great. Yeah, when my wife took the trade she didn't realize it was a B unit. They shouldn't even allow them to be used for trades.

  • i just got back on wednesday from duck very nice place but a 10hr drive. the place i stayed was nice3 full bths 1 half 2 bedrooms basement with like 5 other beds 2 t.v.'s $1600 7 days on 145 bufflehead rd. joe lamb realtor

  • sounds like a good price. I think we paid $2200 for a week but it was 3 story with 6 bedrooms and 5 baths. we split it with friends.

  • tell me about barrier island pines ocean resort unit a.

  • I have been going there for 15 years now and all I can say is that you should have done some investigative work as to the details of the unit before you booked it. If you had the other side of the lock-out unit, you would have had a FULL kitchen, a king sized bed, and a larger TV.

Also, some of the other better units are actually in the 100s.

I'll be back there this year, again, and I will enjoy every minute of it.

  • funny you should comment on that at this time. We just spent the week in Duck, but we rented a house rather than the timeshare thing. Just fantastic. .

  • Regarding Barrier Island Station, the place is just old. I'm sorry to say that all that very old wood and the winds that are constant on the OBX, scared me. We have a couple weeks at Seascape in Kitty Hawk, and I feel it is a musch better value. Yeah, I know how the units go but with RCI, sometimes you can screw up. They shouldn't even allow the lockouts to be included

  • Yes some of the Units have been rehabbed. You had the smaller Lock off unit. I own A&B and we had a Family reunion of twelve all very comfortable. Your problem with the steps could be devastating to some, by videoing them you compounded your non- enjoyment. Mt wife & I are over 70 yrs young and had family 13,25, 27,29,30,48,48,49,50,&51 We are on seconf floor

No Problem. We arrived first & I paid maint man $10 he brought all luggage and numerous groceries. Totally enjoyment.Good Luck

  • we are suppose to be staying in barrier island ocean pines unit A what can you tell me about this...was told we have unit on bottom floor and it walks out on the beach ....have a handicapped elderly person

  • iSince you have one of the units on the beach, you are in good shape. The pool is down by there as well. The majority of the units are a long way to the beach so they have a jeep with a people carrier it tows. Perhaps BIS's biggest attribute is the prime location, on the beach in Duck. My biggest concern with BIS is that all the wood is really old and weathered. I'm sure it looked fantastic when it was new but so many resorts have superceded this resort. The beach is really great so have fun.

  • we were told they only had an indoor pool and when you walked out the door it was about 15 feet to the beach. at we talking about the same place? there are a lot of buildings and we are right on the ocean side and it goes all the way across and building e or f is on the sound. 1445 duck road

  • I'm not sure if there is an indoor pool but I think there was. Most of the timeshares have indor pools since when the winter comes, people can still swim. I KNOW they have an outdoor pool. I'm not so sure about 15' to the beach, but it might only be that far to the dune line, depending on your buildings location. I know they have a PDF map of the complex on their website.

  • I JUST REC'D YOU QUESTION. IS THIS ANOTHER COMPLEX (OCEAN PINES)? I will endeavor to check it out. Mine is available @duck $1,250 both units however One Flight up.

  • I only desire for you is to go again and see all the AMENITIES there and all crafts, food, restaurants. Especially the will horses on the beach. We view horses last day and Bill volunteer Fireman took us on fireengine cruise all around to see these magnificient Horses. Go to the firehouse and leave (Not mandatory) Donations to feed horses. Again Good Luck, I sincerely hope you contacted owner of that unit or RCI

or David Drauch at Complex. We will be there Thanksgiving week this year.

  • I appreciate your interest however since we own 2 timeshares at Seascape in Kitty Hawk and we usually rent a beach house for a week, I doubt we would ever go back to BIS. Most of the horses are kept north of Corolla and if you have 4 wheel drive you can drive the 10 miles up to the Virginia line and see a lot of the horses.

  • i know where that is, i live like 2 miles away from that
