@H1703 Om Mani padme hum, is the mantra of the Buddha of Compassion, "Om" refers too the body,speech, and mind of the Buddha, Which is what we want to attain by are practice, "Mani" means Jewel and refers to all method aspects of the path, "Padme" Means Lotus and refers to Wisdom aspects of the Path, "Hum" refers too the mind of all Buddhas - The Importance of chanting this mantra is to be very effective for purifying the mind and developing compassion.
