  • menuda mierda...esperemos que no haga eso en DT

  • what about ex Extreme?

  • I've watched Mangini's videos since the firsts on the internet..but now we have the Portnoy's bitches hating them. Don't get me wrong, I like Portnoy since I was 8 back on 1990. I didn't even know that I would like DT for over 20years.I don't see the point of compare this two monsters. They are both high skilled drummers AND musicians.

    >IMHO, most people can't understand neither appreciate the musicality of Mangini's solos, they just expect the aggressive Portnoy's style. For these, GTFO!

  • amazing

  • 14 dislikes! What's wrong with you people???

  • Fist pumping like a champion!

  • omg alter wennn des bloß sein warm-up is was spielt der dann wenn er mal richtig warm is??

  • como pudo tocar este compa con stevevay si yo mejor lo llevaria con un grupo cumbiero o con los temerarios

  • @MsJabv espero que esta pendejada sea broma...

  • you should change the title to "mike mangini (ex-annihilator, ex-steve vai, now DREAM THEATER) - absolute rage" =D

  • Man, if this is his warm up....!

  • Mangini is so multi-talented, as is Portnoy. Well, Portnoy is continuing on with other projects which I am sure will be awesome, and I will be following. Dream Theater now has Mangini, and FOR SURE I will be following what happens there. I think it's win-win for everyone involved -- it's like some folks don't seem to realize, hey, you CAN still love and follow what Portnoy is doing, AND look forward to Dream Theater's future as well. They are different paths now, but both will carry on.

  • it looks like he's in China!

  • portnoy just got owned!

    XD

  • Mangini For Dream Theater!!!

  • @wertyguitar Maybe. We will see. Mangini is pretty good. But i think that Aquiles Priester could be another possibility.

  • @carl13220 Mangini isn't a straight sixteenth note guy. I don't think DT is the kind of band for him, tbh.

  • @MikePostDrums >implying DT is a straight sixteenth's band...

  • @pantalaemon I was actually searching for my previous comment on this video. I know what I said was wrong, but what I meant is that Mangini really isn't the type of drummer that Mike Portnoy is. To me, anyway. Mangini is way up there.. Mike Portnoy as well, but he's not even close in technical proficiency. I just wish Mangini would find a band that could exploit all of his skills - the polyrhythms, the feel, the dynamics, everything.

  • @MikePostDrums He as. Dream Theater is that band.

  • @MikePostDrums You must be kidding, he's the man. Obviously you don't know him at all.

  • @progrocky Read my second response, dumb shit. <3

  • @wertyguitar omfg...now tell me the lotto numbers for june pls :D:D

  • @wertyguitar nice prediction!

  • The camera can't even keep up with his left arm at :32.

  • DRUM LEGEND! Mike Mangini

  • or those who think Mike is all speed:

watch?v=y66NbnVyBmk-- An orchestral snare solo from Cirones Portraits in Rhythm to a metronome to help his Berklee students.

watch?v=xxS_63IuK_E-- Improvising with Jesus Diaz in Afro-Cuban and Rock settings.

watch?v=zTruMiQKTyE-- Clinic footage Brushes and SLOW fills, then some hand speed for fans

He plays many more styles WELL than the UNINFORMED armchair critics seem to think. Makes sense, given that he is a professor at Berklee.

  • eebie376: Wow, thank you very much for these videos!!!

  • @eebie376

Many thanks for posting the links! I fully agree with what you say, Mike´s a genious, deserves to be a professor.

  • @eebie376 dude everyone's a teacher at berklee hahaha

  • @eebie376 Really good post man! And here´s another vid that REALLY impressed me!

    watch?v=9x6HnVLdNiI&feature=related

Its a shame it only has 4500 views....

  • @eebie376 Sorry wrong link.... This is the one I meant

    watch?v=9x6HnVLdNiI

  • @nengstro Oh my goodness!! Haha. I've never seen this one. Amazing stuff! I'm so excited that he is now the drummer in Dream Theater. It'll be great to hear what he adds to the music! I think he listens very carefully to what's going on around him, (like he did during the audition, which JR mentioned), and I'm hoping he'll be able to add some really cool stuff to DT's sound.

  • hes playing to an already written thrash metal song, you will never hear the versatility of mike mangini from youtube videos alone.

  • So? All I know is that I CAN see the versatility of ANY Weckl, Gadd, Colaiuta etc video on youtube and it will blow this crap away.

  • @jerrywitaj

Sorry, look at the posted videos, Mike can do any thing Gadd and Colaiuta can. Weckl has the upperhand thought when it comes to jazz-latin-fusion improvisation, no beats him at that. But Mikes still no one, with weckl as a close no two. And Lang, and Tony Royster...And check out Dylan Elise!

Given all the new up and coming drummers who masters all styles and speeds, Gadd and Colaiuta are - sadly - left behind. 20 odd years ago they were the best, now is not then....

  • @nengstro He CANNOT do what Gadd or Colaiuta do...he doesn't even play with a swing feel - gadd incorporates rudiments into all of his beats and plays with a subtly and feel that this guy does not have at all - they have two completely different styles lol

  • no noone ever did what he did noone can eigther

  • A moron that can't even spell or write a complete sentence isn't very persuasive. He sucks.

  • whaha you make me laugh!!

  • inhuman!

  • nice

  • hey!!!!!!!!!mike greath performance like always!! a drumer frind from argentina, metal wiññ never die
