  • hell yeah

  • hillbilly music??? i like screamo!!! >.<

  • You've got the kind of lovin' I need Con-stant-ly:)

  • Anybody know what the intro song is?

  • @MadJackIII No.

  • @MadJackIII "Sure Nuff N Yes I Do" by Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band, off their fantastic debut album Safe As Milk. If you're not familiar with the good captain, get on that right away, and enjoy.

  • what an intro

  • I would have chosen a different song to start the show.

  • @aaron544 It's the first song from their first album at their first show...thats why they opened with this song.

  • son house's delta sneaking a peak, complimenting this primal rock ditty...dw is quite a talent to be reckoned with

  • 3:25 Someone yells "SEXY BITCH!!" I have to agree with that person.

  • @starwart2000 Shes not a sexy bitch... just sexy... not a bitch....

  • She looks so hot :D Shes my type for show

  • @FrancisIIIBibeau Fuck yeah!

  • Fuck this song gives me the chills.

  • love this song and the Fendi's runway, the whole album as well

  • i hear alot of fleetwood mac in her singing and style. as a matter of fact, if you slow down "the chain", particularly that middle base part, it sounds alot like this. these guys are fucking sick. this song, i feel is by far their best. very late 60's eraly 70s influence, which is exactly what we need. Thankfully, those bluesy days are comin home!

  • too cool...i wish i was there!

  • the first song they play is by captain beefheart

  • Fave Fave - great show down in Louisville!

  • groovy :D

  • people, why wre you standing.... i don't get it, miucis like this and nobody dance, i wush see you in Poland :)

  • Yeah, I'm seeing them tomorrow in New Orleans! Can't wait to see these sexy bitches!

  • hell yeah...fixin 2 see them 10/05 when they come to Dallas. Allison is one hot grungy @#$%$

  • those are fat guitars

  • your music culture is very extence

  • they remind me so much of Led Zeppelin

  • Who sang that opening song, or was it just one of their recordings?

  • Its their intro song. Its Sure 'Nuff 'N' Yes I Do by Captain Beefheart.

  • at every show

  • its sounds like sea sick steve

  • thank you minniwhite......thank you :)

  • Saw them at Outside lands and they were just about the best band there! If you think Jack White is using a track you are insane. See bands live, then judge.

  • I watched Outside Lands via the pipes and Id say almost for sure there was a track playing. like 100% for sure. like he wasnt even in the throne and there was a beat playing

  • What!?! He did use a drum machine during one song so he could play guitar but their is no way he was playing to a track.

  • LJ switches to drums.

  • Jack always will be crunchy good...can't be beat. All others will only follow. Can't wait to see what he does next when he gets bored with Dead Weather. Yummy good Jack!!!

  • it is captain beefheart

sure nuff said yes i do

  • who sings that song they play in the intro...

  • Could it be Captain Beefheart?

  • Fuckin' solid track.

  • thats a robert johnson tune..

"if i had possession over judgement day"

  • Jack is doing a flam in the beginning it's not off beat nor the video. One stick hits slightly behind the other....

  • i see what ya mean

i guess its just the quality of the video

some drummers (like me) anticipate the next drum roll (or phyll, if you know music terms)

others seem more relaxed and hit it instantly.

    that make sense?

  • First off, it's a fill (just for future reference). Secondly, of course it makes sense! To each their own style, and based off Jack's unique setup of his kit you can tell he's not your "average" drummer. If you want to continue delving into this subject I suggest you pick up a copy of Moder Drummer, it's pretty insightful and well... you'll definately know how to spell... phyll, HAHAHA!

  • wish i could give allison mosshart a foot message!!!!

  • What would you write? :P

  • Sure Nuff 'n' Yes I Do by Captain Beefheart if you guys don't know what that opening song is... Hell yeah Dead Weather! I've been listening to nothing but them for a couple days now..

  • Pay attention to Jack drumming, the first minute of the actual song. I don't know if it's a video lag, but every time he's about to strike the drums, it almost looks like he's gonna miss his mark, and go offbeat. Pay attention, and try to see what I mean.

  • I noticed that too. either he's got really quick wrists or it is the video.

  • its not a lag, its how he plays drums

  • its a lag;) you hear the drums before he hits them... so either he is just THAT good, he doesnt need to hit the drums in time and stills he's on beat...

or the vid is just a bit behind... ;)

  • thats so fucking cute, hardy fucking har.

    oops, just joshin ya.

  • wow you are so funny, me love you long time

  • @spearstrike211 he lifts his arms slow and hits them down really fast. It looks crazy

  • @seamonkeyguitars Sick, right?

  • INTRO tune!! Awesome..many thanks..nice vid clarity too...We saw them twice so far live, very nice EVERY TIME. A great mix of musicians.Love them all.

  • sho nuff... awesome opening music...

  • These show great potential I believe they have good chemistry and they have a presence on the stage most other bands can't match. Along with some very musically talented people.

  • whens the lp gonna be out?

  • @msfreak8: it's out already

  • Every show seems to be a great show. I have loved the two I have seen!!!!

True talent X4 ya know, but then again...

...everything Jack touches turns to gold. = )

  • love the music it has a nice jazz feel

  • Tight, but I like the album version a bit more

  • I agree with joelvision, AND there's a whole pre-hippie beatnick scene in the late 50's, early 60's that this band is marvelously reminiscent of, with a strong dash of New Orleans jazz and blues thrown in. These guys have an amazing alternative rock band going here, so raw and emotional.

  • i've said this before but i think it's very true... and what is perhaps so special about this band, is that i dont think they really sound like any scene before them. true, there are some elements of new orleans jazz and mutant blues thrown in, but unlike the raconteurs, which is an obvious homage to 70s arena rock, the dead weather presents such an indubitably new raw sound. it's so new its so exciting.

  • Yessss Beefheart!

  • I don't care what any of you dumbshits say, Mosshart brings a Joplin-esque presence to the mic. She doesn't overdo it, she's not over the top. She comes off as comfortable in her own skin. I don't know what the fuck anyone else is looking for, but with the music they're playing, it's fucking perfect.

  • joplinesque? lol. allison is nothing like joplin. allison drip with this post-apocalyptic raw and spiky sex groove. joplin was incredibly soft, mellow, drugged out, sure they both shout... but their general style is very very different. however i do agree with everything you said post joplin comment. i did think she was over the top but then i saw them live in nyc, its a totally different experience. best concert of my life

  • are the white stripes still alive btw?

  • *facepalm*

  • yes they are.. planning a cd released in 2009.. jack white's solo project also

  • and i thought i was the only one havin a thing against mossart. yeah, somehow she doesnt quite cut it, quite mediocre, a little trying.. oh well, but the overall sound is pretty great and jack is pure class so thumbs up

  • I've really tried to like the Dead Weather, but Allison Mossart makes me sick. I don't know why I hate her, but every time she starts sing I start disliking the song. And I love everything else that I've heard from Jack White. And I like the way the band sounds, but she just fucks up the whole thing for me.

  • Really? I LOVE her voice...There's just something sexy about it to me...

  • This is good stuff.

  • I've never been a fan of the Kills, and their live show is NOTHING compared to the unbeatable White Stripes. Mosshart is alright, but doesn't have 1% of Jack's charisma, or Meg's for that matter. All she does is strut around with her hair in her face trying to be cool. Jack's charisma is burning a hole in her back, and the guy is just drumming. As long as Jack White is part of the equation I'm there, the guy is a bonafide rock icon.

  • It's all a matter of opinion but the kills put on a great show

    in my opinion that is

  • I can get behind that

  • alison should stick with the kills

  • can someone tell me whos singing at the begining of the viideo? and the name of the song?

  • That would be your Captain Beefheart with the fabulous and sexy Zoot Horn Rollo on electric slide guitar. Check out Mr. Rollo's autobiography from about ten years ago. The Captain practically held the band against there will somewhere in the California desert, force-feeding then psychedelics and speed so they could rehearse for weeks at a time.

The greatest unlistenable Rock'n'Roll band in the World!

  • Captain Beeheart-Sure 'Nuff and Yes I do

    Jack White's biggest influence.

  • thank you!!

  • i would hate to play guitar in a band that jack white is in

  • that's a funny thought. but dean is a great guitar player and doesn't need/want to compete.

    :)

  • Why is that?

  • @RRyyNNee what about playing drums in a band Jack White is in. ;P

    *cough*whitestripes*cough*

I'm kidding, Meg White rocks, and I understand your point.

  • @fizzgigify Meg rocks, Patrick Keeler rocks. No problems there!

  • @RRyyNNee Brendan Benson did a damn fine job at it.

  • love this song jack white is my fricking idol and hes hardly in this. The rest are fricking awesome all on top form. This song is so sexy and sleazy. Saw em perform at Glastonbury Alison Mossheart was pretty much shaggin the mic stand. Awesome with awesome sauce

  • What are you talking about - "he's hardly in this"? He's the drummer.

  • Verbal diarrhea sorry! (thanks for shooting me down) Was just trying to say hes taken more of a back seat playing the drums on every song. He only gets up and plays guitar on one song and hes the lead singer on just two.

I love this band and their attitude I just want to see Jack White on guitar a lot more!

  • im seeing them here in columbus on the 25th. i cant wait man. jack white is so fuckin great. cmon white stripes, i know that album will be sick, making us wait this long.

  • allison mosshart = fav singer, brilliant, gorgeous

  • Sure Nuff Yes I do Rocks! Does anyone know where I can get The White Stripes Sub-Pop Captain Beefheart Record? C.D. or MP3?

  • badass. this is the first time listening to this group

  • i miss jack's voice :(

    still great :D

  • He sings a few with them that we know of already

  • christ these were good at Glastonbury!!

    Best band all weekend!

  • WHat's the Song in the beginning!

  • Sure 'Nuff 'N' Yes I Do - Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band

  • I wonder what instrument Jack White can't play with talent that blows my mind?

  • the guy is a pretty good rock guitarist and rock drummer - i fucking love him, but he's no virtuoso..

  • Alison and Jack TOGETHER?! Awesome. Not as awesome as Alison and Jamie though.

One of my friends had a dream about Alison and Jack having sex the other night...

    Completly normal.

  • i like this more than their recordings, but so far i think the raconteurs are jack's best work, in my humble fucking opinion

  • gotta say this would pack alot more punch if jack white were singing it. i hope he brings his a game to the next stripes album. i wasnt a huge fan of icky thump but i loved everything before that.

  • the white stripes were supposed to make an album this year, but it's unlikely now that he's moved on to the dead weather i don't think its possible to be in 3 bands at the same time and the white stripes haven't played together for a while

  • theyre still together for sure.. Jack said so, if they were ever to break up he'd let it be known he said.

  • the White stripes are still recording an album this year. You underestimate Mr White. I think they're actually working on a White Stripes Movie.

  • Youre right, they are. Its about their tour in Canada when they played in every province

  • Yeah, that's it. I remember reading that he couldn't believe that even a Canadian band hadn't done that on a single tour.

  • Really? If thats true then thats great! But, thats just what Wikipedia(not the greatest source) says. and its not a white stripes movie, its "It Might Get Loud" a documentary about guitar and Jimmy Page, Jack White and The Edge are in it.

  • White totally looks like he's trying to destroy that set! And I'm sorry folks, but if y'all think Jack's new band is crap, then you shouldn't bother commenting on it! Jus' a thought!

  • I can't enjoy this singer's egocentric blind performance. I bet she's the same everywhere she plays too. Same moves and curls and what not. Sorry but, boring plastic shit.

  • its not like your forced to watch it..if you dont like it then dont watch it

  • I actually enjoy the sound. I'm just saying it would be perfect if they got a reasonable singer.

  • Meg White must be feeling very unloved.

  • Well if she can sing her own songs, im sure they'd love to sell her records. But as far as drumming goes, I don't think she's that innovative. it was only adequate to the White Stripe songs.

  • Jack White actually has a similar technique to Patrick Keeler

  • He's got a similar set up as well. I guess what works, works right? lol.

  • I agree, but I think it's the other way around. The Drums were Jack's first instrument, and seeing as the Patrick drums int he Greenhorn's, they probably both influenced each other.

  • I think I just might have to find my way down to ACL again this year.

  • i saw the kills open for the raconteurs. she has a great stage presence. i didnt like her band tho. glad to see her in a real rock band. shes a rock star

  • the kills are one of the most innovative and badass bands around. dont make staments that are dumb just cause your mind cant wrap itself around somthing that is differant. that being said, the dead weather are fucking dope.

  • its not that i dont like them bc they are different. its that i dont like them. and aerosmith sucks way worse than the kills. they suck b*lls

  • he can make his Gretsch talk. sigh. Jack White is absolutely god-sent.

  • hes not playing guitar. he is playing drums

  • believe it or not but the statement is still true...

  • Jack White isn't playing guitar.

  • good stuff.

If they can stay together for longer than 10 years i could see them going far..

  • WHATEVER OR WHEREVER

  • You remind me of a fucking retard

  • this. is. badass.

  • Did any one notice that Jack is in pure white spot light, the others are in that bluish hue, and his kit is noticably lower than most drum kits, he is such a rock star!

  • your comment is dead on my friend!

  • please someone tell me what the song is called that is playing at the beggining

  • captain beefheart - Sure 'Nuff 'N Yes I Do

  • Daaamn, Alisons smexy =P

  • Fucking PRIMAL.

  • i'm a girl, but i would totally switch teams for Allison

  • Sounds great! This makes me excited to see them in Minneapolis!. I like that the warm up song was "Sure 'nuf 'n yes I do". I've heard The White Stripes cover "Ashtray Heart" and "Party Of Special Things To Do". Much respect for the Beefheart.

  • amazing

  • the girl has a little behind her

  • I wanna see this band! The Kills sound good already, then mix with JACK...Blues spin completely different

  • what the fuck where is jack white on guitar????

  • hes playing drums and backup vocals for this band

  • I want WHITE STRIPES!!!! What happend with Meg White? I don't want to hear more Jack White's band... It's good but this never won't match The White Stripes

  • i heard that after he is done with dead weather that he is gonna make an album with meg

  • YES HE IS :D

  • i heard that it was the other way around? 7th album than dead weather

  • Nothing is ever as powerful as the original, but think of all the material that would be tossed out if Jack were only in TWS.

  • I think we've heard the shit out of White Stripes, Jack is unreal but every time he pumps out a different individual guitar rift the drums come and play the same shit. Meg is horrid, please dont give me this " SHES JUST PLAYUING SIMPLE FOR A RASEON JEEEZ" She adds nothing to the band, simple drums are what jack is playing in this, Too often do the words simple and shitty get mixed up.

  • Meg's the best part of the band. Yeah she sucks, Jack doesn't care. Jack's just like "Give me a beat and keep it so I can fucking wail for 20 songs without stopping."

  • Yeah the drumming is pretty basic, but hey look on the bright side. They've managed to make a living, tour their asses off, play for millions...and you're still just sitting in your mom's basement! Give me basic drumming over eating Dorito's with you on a Saturday night any day.

  • it sounds alot like the kills drumming track. very basic is the philosophy i think of the band. like in the white stripes.

  • Well i can't argue against that. Doritos's are delicious. Perhaps we can play some basic drumming and eat doritos at the same time.... can we hang out now?

  • White Stripes always will be the orginal, They was great and Meg is very special and talented person, tit's shame that She don't perform now

  • Apparently theres to be a new white stripes album in 09.. jack said he hopes they have one out. Go Meg.. Meg rocks!!

  • White Stripes' show must go on :-)

  • eh whatever.... jack isnt obviously... so we will have some good ish no matter

  • I know I kinda thought that too, then I read where Jack said at the end of 09 they hope to have something new outwith the WS. Cant wait!!!! :)

  • nope! im happy to say that they are going to release an album in 2010

  • BEEFHEART IS A GENIOUS! HAHAHAHA

  • I llove how they play Captain Beefheart's "Sure 'nuff 'n yes i do" at the beginning :^)

So awesome how both Jack and Alison love his songs

  • What do you mean WetheBest96 29 dollars for what?

  • What WetheBest96 ?

  • 29 dollars for the Boston show, some one asked

  • WHERE R THE WHITE STRIPES?

  • Jack said be December

  • Taking a break for now.

  • that girl can do no wrong :D

  • I'm going to the Roseland in Portland, OR in August. If I actually got to meet Jack I think I'd die on the spot! I'd die a happy woman, but DEAD none the less! He is the epitome of classic rock and roll. LOVE HIM!!!

  • GREAT!

  • loving captain beefheart at the beginning there

  • got my tix for columbus eeeeeeeee
