It is sad that Lily has once again abandoned Hope. Thank you for keeping us posted that at least you have located Hope and she is still alive. I don't think Hope will survive in the wild without Lily, even if you provide supplemental food and milk for Hope to find. How long will you be able to provide these supplements, and who will teach the cub how to survive in the wild for 2 years. Hope's only chance is for Lily to reunite and provide for her.

Lily was obviously a little excited to see her cub after not seeing her for five days. Obviously, she settled down after getting over the shock of finding her again. Poor Hope - to have to have such an imature mother with very under-developed maternal instincts. That is one very hungry little bear, Lily just does not understand that she must be still and allow the little cub to nurse. It is good though that you found Lily and reunited them. Lily isn't human, but this huge difference people like to attribute between humans and animals is often not the truth. Humans can be imature mothers and so can animals. I am not judging Lily, animals are inocents and therefore cannot be held accountable for their actions. But a first time mother of any species will be inexperienced and therefore not as good a mother as one who has raised many cubs. I really like Lily, she is very playful and fun, but she strikes me as an inexperienced mom.
@CreekValleyCritters i know the difference is not huge, as we are animals too. but in this case, the major part of the problem was due to a lost track because of rain. Lily couldnt find Hope, and she had to travel far, Sue and Lynn believe that another bear was threatening the territory, wich could result by danger for the cub...
