  • It's funny how Charles 2nd is a Puritan now. :P

  • Puritains just got owned!

  • Hahahah Once it's loaded all the way click on the left and right keys and it goes like...

This is Mister & mrs HELLO and they CALL ME JAMIE want to SURELY... lol

  • 1:13 Get a good look up mats nose XD

  • They got told at the end!!...XD

  • if your christian KILL YOURSELF!

  • Is Mr Miserable Matt?

  • @LovingLiars Yes.

  • @TheWolfmaid yeah i thought it was him

  • p.s. at 2:43 Mrs. Miserable is covering her ears so as not to hear the "sinful" music.

  • @e0o9kii We don't really know exactly when Jesus was born, but Christmas is a good Christian holiday. It is so popular a Christian holiday that even non-Christians like to celebrate it!

  • Now Caligula is Mr. Merry!

  • Puritans didn't start out as the dour faced people with no sense of fun. Early Puritans were rather whimsical and had no problem with sex, as long as you were married. It was much later that they developed into the sour, holier than thou people.

  • I love Simon in this.

  • they get the miserables in the end classic

  • Um sorry has anyone noticed they wouldn't have cameras to film themselves in the 1600 hundreds. L.O.L

  • @LovingLiars Dear god, you are bright.

  • @LovingLiars

It's a funny history show. Reality is bent on an hourly basis for the sake of silliness.

  • I found the name Silence online and it was described as an American name - I was like "Watch Horrible Histories; because they say otherwise!"

  • @MultiBelle22 along with Chastity, Modesty, Honesty, Purity, Verity etc

  • Where did the baby go? Did she die? lol

  • "Ok so far so good..." Extreamly smiley smile

  • 2 people are puritans

  • I'm Roman Catholic. I don't know much else- don't go to church... ever...

  • acting is sinful your should be whipped and put in the stocks.

    (AWKWARD)

  • I want to be friends with Mr. Merry! Lol!

  • This makes me want to throw a party, with loud music, and lots of dancing, the drinks are free and we'll all have FUUUUN!!!!!

  • whats so bad with going to Hell? Hoorey for Charles II !!!

  • "You should be whipped", I love the look on his face when he said that.

  • It's sneep family! :D

  • Jamie Merry sounds like Austin Powers..."party on!"

  • GO KING CHARLES THE SECOND. sorry puritans but as a christian i am astonished they actually banned CHRISTMAS someone ought to hit them to theyre sensesi

  • @missluckyducky07 Yes, go Chuck Part Deux and his splendid killing time in Scotland! Christmas was banned by the Puritans because it violates the regulative principle of worship. Time after time, we see in the Bible that any man-made innovation in worship is severely condemned by God. How, then, are we to judge a holy day invented by the Pope that neither Christ nor his apostles told anyone to celebrate?

  • OWNAGE!!!! Isint fun sinful the ladie said XD

  • i guess we're all gonna burn in hell

  • @devilownsmenot500 Dont bealive in those stupid puritians, there just people that dont know how to have fun.

  • oh i like this one!

  • 'You're sinful, Jezebel.' 'Well, you're going to burn in hell.'

  • @TigressWhite actually he said ''YOU sinful Jezebel" jezebel was a way of calling a lady a whore, temptress, or anything else disgusting

  • Mr. Miserable looks like Snape.

  • im a party animal, and i would happily be a puritan if i could marry mr miserable ;)

  • "We're ready for Charles II. Resurection's here. Party on!"

    :D

  • It's funny how Mat's character is against Charles II even though Mat played as him lol

  • At least Mr. Merry was trying!

  • My friend and I have a theory that the Puritans didn't come to America to escape religious persecution. It's more like they were asked to leave.

Escape? Shit, we'll give you a police escort. And a map.

After you leave Southampton turn right and keep going until you see land, don't stop, don't be afraid. It takes a while. But it's there. A huge mass of land right underneath a big W. You'll see it. A big W.

Jesus Christ I thought they'd never leave.

  • There needs be a Historical Wife Swap for US History next XD!

  • The Puritan couple remind me of the WBC (Westboro Baptist Church) who believe everyone that doesn't follow their beliefs that they are going to hell, only the WBC members don't wear all black.

  • HAHAHA! i Love the ending! XD "you sinful-" "well your going to go to hell."

  • not that she took the baby with her...

  • lol a dalek on horrible histories this is so funny lol best one yet

  • Am I the only one who thought "she sounds like a Dalek" when Mrs. Miserable spoke at the party?

  • @Zephyr7990 Nope, I thought she sounded like a Dalek!

  • I'm actually supposed to study my English at the moment but I feel like I'm learning a lot more watching these HH video's =D

  • Wait until those puritans sail to America, boy are they in for good times haha oh the field day they're going to have meeting the Native Americans

  • p.s. Mr. Miserable would call me a sinful jezebel too if he knew what I thought of him ;)

  • @232bluewings He would have to say that to everyone. lol =)

  • Mr. Merry is a legend. :')

  • There are a few things to point out. While the Puritan ideals were over-the-top, they did believe in education, oppose monarchy, and were very industrious. The Restorationists were supporters of monarchy, and had very anti-democratic ideas, including those of women's rights. At least both the puritan husband and wife suffered more-or-less equally.

  • What is the other name (not the silence the if jesous smthng)

  • @chrisandrikopoulos19

Not sure which one you mean but the child is called Silence Discipline Search The Scriptures but she wanted to call her If Christ Had Not Died Thou Had Been Dammned (i think) after her mother :L

  • mr merry is the stupid deaths man!

  • I actually love Horrible Histories!

  • lovvvvveee 3:28 omg love it :D

  • I think I'm the only one on here who'd sooner live with mr. merry :D

  • OMFG. Mr. Miserable: Acting is sinful, you should be whipped and put int he stocks. FUCK LOL. I'm reading The Crucible now for my claaaaasssss

  • I couldn't contain my laughter at 2:45. The party hat!!!!! rotflmao

  • Puritans, the sticklers of Christianity. I'd say they aren't around anymore but let's face it, their beliefs have carried over. Harry Potter, Dungeons and dragons, Rock n' Roll. All sinful... because they're fun. It's not surprising they were persecuted, no one really wanted them around.

  • Mr. Miserable looks like Snape.

  • i'd be happy if i did a sawp and mat was the hubby

  • I honestly wouldn't mind being Puritan if I get married to Mat Baynton

  • fight the good fight of fate lol

  • 'Well your gonna burn in hell!'

Mat don't worry, we can burn in hell together :P

  • I wonder where the puritans got all those crazy notions?

  • mrs miserable...SOO LUCKY

  • These Puritans actually believed that bathing yourself is considered a sin because they actually thought that scrubbing your bodies by touching yourself is evil.

  • is it me or does mr miserable look a lot like King Charles II ;P

  • As a Christian, I gotta say Puritans suck.

  • @mickdukes i agree Hurray for charles the 2nd

  • @mickdukes They had their doctrinal fallacies just like any other denomination, but banning theatre was a good thing, considering all the immorality that went on in 17th century theatres. And I thought the names were.....interesting.....certainly good reminders anyway.

  • @zemotheon12987

I remember my English teacher mentioning theater became extremely perverted after Shakespeare, so maybe they did have their reasons for banning it.

  • @mickdukes Same. I mean how can they ban, music, acting and Christmas even though Christmas celebrates the Birth of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior (even though Jesus may have been born in April).

  • lmfao... that is too much.

  • "Drinking is sinful." "Obviously..."

  • wait......... Mat is Charles II?

  • You sinful jessabelle!

Well your gonna burn in hell

    :')aha

  • the 2 miserables watched this video. =(

  • To stick up for the puritans a bit, they endorsed full literacy for all women. The restoration brought back the view that reading was too much for the "fragile mind" of a woman. That could have been fun to poke at.

Other than that, yeah, they did bind themselves in a hypocritical view on life.

  • @Ayanra I dunno, the more i read about them, the more i reckon it's the usual case of the winners writing history. They weren't nearly as stupid and superstitious/sin-obsessed as they're often made out to be.

Not that I don't find this vid hilarious! I don't care how true to life it is when there's mat baynton in it, lol!

  • This video nailed it the Puritans really did this. They really gave Christianity a bad name.

  • Oh, Matt. Why can't you have fun?

  • mr miserable= HOT!!! =D

  • OMG Mr Miserable... so my type

  • I love it when Mr. and Mrs. Miserable tell them off at the end!!!!

  • @Funkyk2 I agree! It's also funny when Mr. and Mrs. Merry make them realise they have sinned!!!! So LOL!!!!

  • I'M A SHOUTY MAN.

  • 2 people are sinful jezebels :-)

  • lol i thought that.

  • Puritans went too far one way. The Restorationists went too far the other. Similar to the shift from extreme morality in the 1890s to the extreme LACK of morality in the 1960s.

  • the funny thing is my uncle looks like Matt lol

  • @TheCjg2000 You're lucky, in a way!

  • "you sinful Jezebel !"

  • @ihearttheplanet oh you're gonna burn in hell...... omg this is epic XD

  • Mathew Baynton, wouldn't mind being his wife:) he's so fine:) he can pull off like any wig:))) I swear im obsessed with him;) <3 i don't care;) I LOVE HIM(L)

  • Silence XD

  • haha...Mrs. Miserable is the 17th century version of my mother.

  • @mynameisnterin And mine.

  • Most Puritans weren't like the caricature they present here. For one, the "music is sinful" part just wasn't true. Puritans wrote hymns and allowed operas to stay open even after they closed the theatre.

  • @Ganondorfdude11 - Hymns and opera? Well, no wonder they were miserable.

  • fun is sinful? God's paradise is full of children and children can't live without fun!!

  • @animelover7155 In Soviet Russia Fun can't live without Children ;)

  • 1 person is a Puritan.

  • So your taking credit for something produced by Horrible Histories and the BBC?

  • Stevie from Miranda?

    xxx

  • OK... What did the Puritans sing in church?

AAAAHHHH They didn't think of that one did they?!

  • @YesIamEccentric Nothing.

  • @YesIamEccentric I think they meant singing to music

  • Mr. Misery is pretty damn smexy <3

  • @ladycucumberington Miserable actually and he is isn't he~?

  • @YoyoDS5 Ack! Miserable, sorry, i was half-asleep when I wrote that comment, lol. But yes, yes he is :)

  • When will the 1778 version be up? xD

  • Are Puritans the ancestors of the republicans (conservatives)?

  • LOL Mr and Mrs Miserable are going to burn in hell but is not making the most of their time on earth and they had so much time to think about it.

  • fun is'nt sinful, did the puritans read the bible cus music and dancing are all in it.

  • You're right Simpsons, they do sound like the Taliban. But what experience do we have of either the Taliban or the Puritans aside from our liberal democratic partisan education which naturally opposes these values?

  • @DeeperRootsProject omg!! Taliban is totally the first thing that came to my mind when I watched this video,, fun is sinful xD well religious extremists are just no good no matter what tsk tsk tsk

  • @heahashemi Ha haha! Im a muslim and I sort of agree with you there!

  • no offense deeperrootsproject

but puritians feel like the taliban

    ideology speaking

  • im from London, well near it...... we're all merry here!

  • wow one of the best wife swap parodies i have seen great job!

  • Ok who votes to stay with the restoration couple? *raises hand* *Thumbs up if you agree*

  • Hey, it's Keith Lee Castle!

  • lol

  • the Puritans can blame Charles the second :D

  • Mr Merry has certainly a point in the end :-).

  • I would why Christian Oe Catholic Histoicial People banned Christmas that has something to do with CHirstianity

  • @Sonicadvaned09 PURITAN!, not catholic, please! ..!-)

  • @finehomemadewine Yeah forgot to delete and replace it

  • @Sonicadvaned09 Don't quote me but i think by the time Cromwell came around Christmas had become a reason to party down. Imagine if you will Christmas being the equivalent of Led Zeppelin, Motley Crue, Van Halen, Guns and Roses, and AC/Dc coming to town all of the same day. With prostitution, opium, no last call, and all night all you can eat Chinese buffet.

I also think that's why they came up with Boxing Day. So Christmas remains a holy sacred and Boxing Day is is the party day,

  • tbh "Silence" is quite a nice name for a baby girl....

  • @drtrekwars I call our babbies: "SILENCE!" all the time actually..

  • @finehomemadewine what a coincidence. my mum calls all three of us "Be quiet" all the time. how strange...

  • @Kerriangel Lovely, are You triplets? ..Actually I know a lady who has two sons called Johns- one is John Peterson and the other Johanson...

  • @finehomemadewine no but sometimes we are alladdressed by that name. and that is kinda weird

  • @Kerriangel I guess the diminutive of that would be "Quiet."

  • For Mr Merry: I'm the king who brought back partying!

  • great news oliver cromwell corpse was beheaded his headless body throw in to a pit and head pass aroud till 1960

  • most of the purtians left to go to america :L

  • vote for fun, its not sinful :D

  • vote for restoration :D

  • Question: if this is wife swap, why is Mrs mesrible bring her baby?

  • @thephysicwerewolf If you had a baby, would you give it to a woman you have never met?

And off course, it's for the 'Silence!' joke :-)

  • @ViccardXViccc I guess

  • @ViccardXViccc

probably too young to be left alone

  • man it must have been hell wnen oliver cromwell ruled the county

  • hehehe... and yet the Puritans won ;P

  • "Music is sinful"

    "Dancing is sinful"

    "Drinking is sinful"

    "Fun is sinful"

  • @greenq618 If christ had not died, thou has been damned.

    I'm pretty sure that's it

  • "You...like telling people off don't you?"

    "Well yes we do."

"And that was fun wasn't it?"

    "...yes."

    "Tell me, isn't fun sinful?"

    "You sinful Jessabell"

"Oh you're going to burn in Hell"

xDDD <3 matt's face at the end x

  • "Well atleast let me get you a drink-"

    "Drinking is sinful."

    "Obviously..."

  • Breathing and living is sinful. Pooing is sinful. Weeing is sinful. Dying is sinful.

    lol imagine.

  • silence wow they need better names

  • Are there still Puritans around? Just wondering... :D

  • It depends what you mean by a Puritan. My church are in the Puritan tradition.

  • @DeeperRootsProject writing comment is a sinful! :P

  • @dasmysteryman12 If I remember my history correctly, the quakers are the modern-day descendents of the puritans.

  • @abc101090 not technically, only some are, most were not

  • @abc101090 As many protestant churches :-), don´t we just LOVE our pervy ways?!,.. I do anyway..

  • @dasmysteryman12 go to alabama

  • @dasmysteryman12 yes they do. some call them Wasps!

  • Wow, I would NOT be a good Puritan wife!

  • lol at 3:54
