THe deaths of many cyclists are on your hands . And quit bible punching road laws ... every law has a practical implementation , and driving a bycicle in the middle of the road to avoid being killed is like fucking for virginity .
Oh , and by the way I don't even drive , but I can see who the complaining little girl is . Go grow some balls !
Advising cyclist to ride in the middle of the road is verry irresponsible . Just remember , you might be right with your road regulations , but they not going to help you if you are dead ... like many clever cyclists have found out already .My advise to you and your ignorant cronies is to yeild to the larger vehicle , or learn the hard way .
Tpper drivers and cement driver give us HGVs a bad name, they drive them like they stole them. The ammount of times they have tried overtaking me on a roadabout when Im in a 60ft long HGV is amazing. Anyone driving a HGV with half a brain wold know its not a good idea yet they always try and squeeze past even if it means mounting the roadabout. They also tend to speed.
When I see cyclists passing traffic lslands like that I prefer to wait until they have passed the island before overtaking when driving a bus. Even if the cyclist is riding close to the kerb I'd feel uncomfortable overtaking them at such a point. Obviously the tipper driver didn't have any such problems!
Don't blame yourself for keeping 2 feet out from the kerb. Further out is only easy if you're going much faster and most of us can't maintain that kind of speed. It's the lorry driver's responsibility to pass safely. If you were further out the lorry could squeeze you even worse or hit you. There are insensitive bullies on the road and you had the misfortune to share road space with one.
Makes a good point graphically

@Lav1lle Well you'd better contact the Department for Transport and the National Standards tutors, then.

Nice comment, and I certainly agree with you. In my experience artic drivers are the best out there at knowing their vehicle and using it safely.
