Sadly i think we will be unlikely to see a locomotive such as this one running on the mainline again as they cannot haul a long enough train to make trips commercially viable.
nice 10* WISH THEY WOULD RUN IT A AGAIN I THINK AT THAT TIME IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN AT THE DART VALLEY RAILWAY (SOUTH DEVONRAILWAY) im only guesting because i was not born then but seeing old vid and my dads old photos .
@5029tom 1450 was purchased for preservation from BR by the Dart Valley Railway in 1966 It's been in private ownership since 1994.
The name 'Dawlish Donkey' was a kind of hybrid taking the name of the 'Marlow Donkey', operated by the GWR using a 14xx and auto trailer, and Past Time Rail operator's scheme to run this loco along the seaside, where donkeys are used as a attraction to pass the time away for young children whilst on a beach holiday - Dawlish being a seaside town.
@KINGANDCASTLE - Oh, come on, don't be an ass (excuse the pun). The donkey couldn't see out the recession and found it's way onto the adhesive section shelves at a B & Q very near to you and very likely to have been bonding wallpaper to numerous lounge walls ever since - and probably helped James May build his full sized Spitfire Airfix kit - LOL
Is 1450 still mainline runable?
