  • Like this guy, just started meditating, have to say its really difficult to concentrate on that one thought or no thought at all. But after only 2 or 3 meditating practices I gain enough motivation to continue with it, because of the calmness that spreads in your body and mind. I know I need practice to get there, and i will. Strongly recommend to anyone.

  • This guy is very intelligent ! He answers the questions and explains things better than a Buddhist Monk does!!

  • Great lecture!

  • fresh

  • the middle way!!!

  • Great stuff!:)

  • Check out "Yoga Nine Vipassana" on Facebook:

A facebook page with meditation resources, quotes, articles, research, etc.

  • My favorite thing about him is he's real and he tells it like it is.

  • Just my opinion, but Metal and/or Punk Rock have a lot of the same qualities as buddhist teachings. You're not meant to live your life by music. Music is an artistic outlet. Nothing more and nothing less. I started practicing around a year ago. I was a very hateful and angry individual. I still listen to the same music, and I am who I am, but I am a happier, calmer me. I am starting to see things for what they are and accept those things. In time, I will understand better.

  • @TankGirlBOOM I love metal and some older punk( i acually just bought one of Rollins' books) but tell me the similiar qualities you are refering to. I too am very interested in Buddhism. Anyway, too bad i am not in college still. The parallels of the two would be a rad term paper!

  • @me25422 One similarity that Noah brings out is a dissatisfaction with the status quo. :)

  • Lemmy <3

  • @boogieboardbuddha82: I do have some experience being held hostage to the music of Motorhead and I am surprised that it might promote positive values. Despite that I still question the actual image on NL's t shirt...then again it probably doesn't matter because NL has a grasp on Dharma in terms of teaching.

  • I was just pointing out the irony of a Dharma teacher wearing a T shirt like that. I am also quite aware of the defilements which exist in my mental space. I have read both of his books and studied with a teacher he trained so I am aware of his story.

Look and see how I said " nice talk" so that should tell someone I appreciate NL's thoughts on Dharma and I am not offering negativity.

  • Nice talk but I am suspicious about your T shirt which promotes a musical group that sings about greed, hatred, and delusion?

  • @skeptikon1 There are many clips regarding Noah on here, and a documentary too. May help you to better understand him, if you want. Are you free from greed, hatred, and delusion? The T shirt is just material, maybe you spot these things within yourself.

  • @skeptikon1 just wondering if your familiar with the subject matter in Motorhead's music, I'm not saying Lemmy is enlightened by any stretch of the word but they tend to be critical of war, hatred and delusion is often a case by case thing, and I have stated nowhere that Lemmy is a Buddha, but as Brad Warner has said, punk rock questions society and the status quo and Buddhism is when we get to where we question ourselves

  • Thank you for your Clarity, Noah Levine, especially liked that you said Buddhism is an Experience, and also that everyone should find their own Buddhist approach, and also, so important to combine Compassion with Equanimity, very wise!!

  • If you practice to be mindful in every moment, do you still need to take time aside for meditation everyday? If yes, can you achieve the same goal with talking meditation, not silent meditation?

  • Great dharma talk!

  • May all beings be well, happy and dwell in perfect tranquility.

    Thank you for this post...

    Metta

  • NOAH CORE!!!!!!!!!

  • How can his tattoos or the way he is hinder him?...it's the way he is. To change and develop a new ego of how he thinks he should be would be the hindrance

  • This guy is just fantastic. Love him.

  • very well presented, id like to ask him if he thinks that maybe his tattoos, and clothing etc hinder or slow down the positive affects of buddhism in his life. im not judging him, but I find that to be a hindrance on my own journey.

  • @Priddik How can his tattoos or the way he is hinder him?...it's the way he is. To change and develop a new ego of how he thinks he should be would be the hindrance. Be who you are, being more of who you truly are is what Buddhism is about. Peace Bro :)

  • @DBDclothing Thanks for your reply, its got me thinking. And I Understand what you mean now. I think maybe sometimes I care too much of what people think about me, and thats why I posted the original comment. but on reflection, I need to stop worrying, and start living. Thanks for your kind words :)

  • @Priddik In fact Bro, the more you get into Buddhism the less you will give a shit about what other people think about you and be more concerned about how you see yourself. Buddhists don't judge like others do anyway. I've got tattoo's and I'm thinking of having way more. Peace. I'm in UK also by the way. You been to Amaravati?

  • @DBDclothing nope ive never been to amaravati - but I just did a quick google search and that place looks amazing! I will have to check it out some time this year hopefully! I just read that Amaravati's temple beliefs are from Ajahn Chah, and thats amazing, because my teacher Ajahn Brahm was directly taught by him. have you watched any of Ajahn Brahm's talks on youtube? they are the best :) thanks for the info btw.

  • @Priddik Yeah I love Ajahn Brahm. Reading his book atm, "the door to your heart"

Amaravati was formed by Ajahn Sumedho, Ajahn Chah's cheif western disciple. Let me know if you come up :)

  • @DBDclothing ajahn brahm is the bomb diggity

  • He is a kind soul I enjoyed meeting Noah. This guy is really in tune with his feelings if you have a chance to meet him you will see life in a completely new way. I have always used meditation as a way of channeling good vibes through me but his wisdom runs deep! :)
