  • what would be the best ( or what is the ) base ontop of the fire? looks kinda like bamboo but not sure, in asia and doin this for new years, any help would be awsome thai peeps gonna freeak out when i bury the fukin pig hahahhah

  • @drillymang

It does look like bamboo but it's most likely banana trunk split up. it holds a lotta water in there so the pig skin won't burn. I've also seen folks use banana leaves to get the same effect. Important to wrap the pig up in wire really well but give yourself enough wire on the top and bottom to lift the pig out when it's done. Good Luck have a good New Years

  • @drillymang not really

  • the cleaning of the pig must be draining..... i suppose it depends how u like it lol

  • the steam frm the rocks must be brutal 2 cook the pig.... amazing way of doin it though

  • was this at the mauna kea

  • hot rocks inside?!?!?! we stuff our kalua pigs with chicken, fish, herbs, sweet potatos and rice!!!!

  • How long did you keep the pig under the dirt? Did you marinate or season the pig?

  • @TheEspndude he said 7 to 8 hours if u were listening

  • Typical fricken tourist. Do these men show up at your job, film you and ask questions as to how you do what you do?

  • @cabritorsss Yes. It's very much part of what I did for over 10 years.

  • @cabritorsss Without tourism Hawaii would be 100% on welfare instead of 50%

  • @cabritorsss your a fag, does that look like a lil village that no one goes too, make sure you never leave your town, you wouldnt want to look like a tourist or offend anyone that isnt a asshole..

  • by far the best!

  • I thought the pig was buried. I watched something about 20 years ago that demonstrated placing the pig in the ground and then burying it.

  • @BigMarsh Most Polynesians roast meats that way. In New Zealand they do that, Samoans the same. Cooks it right through...yuuum

  • excuse me,can u put some pine apples and coconuts in the pig toooo.

  • heeeey,ur gonna burn the pig.

  • the philippine style of pig roastings are very simple and the best in the world.

  • No thats not bamboo thats banana branches, and he hit the rocks with the tealeaf to dust of any dirt and ashes on it before he put it in the pig......i did this alot of times....much love from hawaii!!!

  • why does he hit the rocks///coals with the leaves???

    a blessing? or what?

  • I believe it's to dust off the ash from the fire.

  • to take off the dust n stuff.

  • pineapple actually isnt hawaiian, its from brazil originally.

I had a chance to do this in hawaii. I mean like to go on the pig hunt, do the whole luau, the whole shebangabang, but didnt have time.

  • hawaiian style? So where's the pineapples?

  • is that bamboo?

  • this is a GREAT how-to vid, thanks, its gonna come in real handy at our July 4th party!
