  • What video is this taken from?!?!?! I must know this, if nothing else.

  • lol bet her pops is quite humiliated from this. too bad he didn't get to kill her after he fucked her but oh well, atleast this bitch grew up and is now masturbation fodder for all us hard working men (superiors) lol

  • @xDyingZombrado you're a sick insolent fool... I pity you

  • @ScantaTerra you're a fan of emo poetry and shitty nu metal.....I pity you

  • @xDyingZombrado pity me? you watch it too. I suggest you take your misogyny and need to flex your masculinity elsewhere.

  • @ScantaTerra just because I watched it doesn't mean I'm a fan. you are a fan. that is why I pity you. why don't you go take a page outa Hotep's book and cut yourself lol worthless sissy.

  • @xDyingZombrado you're pathetic dude if that's all you have to say "cut yourself lol worthless sissy" ... laughable. Even if I am a "sissy" at least I'm not a disgusting worthless misogynist who spends their time making ridiculously abhorrent comments on goth/alternative videos. OTEP happens to be a modern poetic genius, if you don't like it fuck off. Its not like anyone makes you listen.

  • @ScantaTerra "poetic genius" oh yeah, ranting about being fisted by her daddy while he beat the shit outa her whore mother for not making dinner on time. such poetry lol I bet this dyke wasn't even a good fuck. haha Hotep sucks.

  • @xDyingZombrado wow again your words are obtuse to say the least. So sirrah if you're such an authority who would you call a poetic genius?

  • Beautiful

  • I love this beautiful woman ♥

  • I got her beat, sadly. 2lbs 2oz, 3 months premature. I survived as well (my twin brother didn't). BTW what year was this. the line she opens with is from run for cover which came out on smash the control machine 2(?) years ago. guess she wrote it years prior. many artists write songs that don't appear until years later (GNR november rain and don't cry come to mind).

one of the best around. a bordline profet.

  • It seems so 90's, however she speaks sincerely and that makes her great.

As for myself, I don't believe Truth can be revealed by anger. So I follow her music when I fail to be truthful with myself, as it is today.

  • @EndureTemptation the 90's was fuck'n REAL in terms of lyrics, sad those days are gone

  • Gotta love how she opens up with the lyrics to Run For Cover \m/

  • truth.....in two and ahalf minutes

  • Fucking LIVE FOR THIS.

  • Shes the shit.

  • Otep? may i put you huge per of balls inside my mouth, please?

  • I-FUCKING-LOVE-HER. ♥

  • epic spells: o.t.e.p!

  • Was that... music?

  • @080TIGER080 no it was just words she forced out of that mooshy think called tird brain

  • she is one of the best poets i ever had the pleasure of reading.

  • Did anyone notice that after the first verse, when she paused for a sec, you could hear people snickering? Then they shut the fuck up when she got into the baby part.

  • wtf

  • absolutely magnificent.

  • Anyone know a website with her poems?

  • @nuranimewriter you can buy her books on lulu. com / otepsaves

  • 5 people dislike this? Really? I hope I never come in contact with those goat-ropers. Otep is such a breathe of fresh air to the music industry. I feel very honored to be alive the same time she is making and releasing her art. Much love and respect. Fuck the dislikers. I dislike all of you. rofl

  • @devourthislust I believe the 5 people who dislike her are the ones stuck in the below pop type of music that's infested on mainstream radio. Its not their fault they just don't know what music is. They haven't been introduced to lyricism for a while. It'll take them a while to understand what true talent is.

  • I like otep

  • i wish i could've heard what he said after that.

  • She's my hero.

  • This woman is, hands down, BAR NONE, my favorite artist in existence. Her poetry is as powerful as her music, which is saying something, because usually music is used to speak louder than words.

  • One thing many people need to realize... us metal heads, lead singers in bands... we can rhyme just as well. The only difference between rap and metal is the style it's presented.

  • I thank you for posting this. I've wanted to see this for a while. She's amazing.

  • She speaks the truth. That is more than most can do.

  • She is such a great writer and creative mind

  • One of the most powerfull things i ever heard

  • This is so fucking powerful. And for anyone who does this, it takes a lot of guts to just pour out your heart in front of a bunch of strangers.

  • Flawless Win.

  • Her history is touching, Anyway, seems like she uses it in a kinda demagogic way. "What I say its true, because my life was so horrible. My father was a cruel man, so must be all the others".

This attitude is not leading to a better comprehension between men and women but to war.

  • @Goma2 That is not true. It's a metaphor and for all men who are bad or evil but she is intelligent enough to know that not every man is like that.

  • @SuperPolytheist and believes in this by being a lesbian lol. kidding. i wonder if her history with certain men may affected her without realizing it and maybe reset her brain so too speak to be a lesbian. our enviroment and how we react to it, subconsciously or otherwise, effects us in everyway. many times without us knowing it.

a great artistic mind and i'm glad she is heard by many, so few get heard.

  • @Goma2 Which is why she's been in an all-male band (apart from one touring guitarist) for the last ten years? People said the same thing about the song "Menocide". Otep never said anything about ALL men being awful, horrible beings undeserving of life. She speaks only against the pigs of the world. Other people's conceptions of men as all being pigs is one that she doesn't share. I mean, for god sakes: eViL J is her best friend! And he is QUITE masculine xD Interesting points, but wrong :P

  • This is completely incredible. I know what it's like to be in that kind of situation - I was born in a very similar one, and have had a very similar outcome. It's essential beyond belief to see someone else like this. I wish I could meet her.

  • OTEP I LOVE YOU!

  • hiz fukkin fist into her fukkin side.

  • @theProtoSapien You suck

  • I love otep she's such a great inspiration to me <3

  • @metalgirl0 she just took my heart :)

  • This is my monologue for my drama class(:

Thankyou Otep for filling my head to the brim with awesome poems and music.

  • i did this poe for open mic night and everyone loved it i love otep

  • She fills me with hope, her words are the most beautiful I've ever heard.

If there is anyone who is considered perfect, then it's her.

You just gotta love that person.

  • I love her. I'm a guy and I love every word she says. Long live Otep.

  • Fucking beatiful wordsmith

  • I LOVE OTEP. KEEP IT COMING SHAMAYA LOVE YAZZ.

  • WAY BETTER THAN NICKI AND I DONT CARE IF SHES GAY I WANT TO FUCK HER...SO BAD.

  • God damn. Pure fucking brilliance.

  • my big bad tuff self cryed when i heard this

  • omfg otep shamaya is fuckin amazing!

  • i love her message, and everything she stands for.

  • Otep=poet! Art is war!

  • beginning was pretty lame but it got better

  • i love her !!!!!!!!!!!

  • WTF ? o_o

  • where was this ? and why is she rapping =/

  • @raven66614 shes not rapping shes reciting her poetry. -_-

  • @Gabyvk94x she sort of is, shes using a ebonic voice inflexion as she is reciting her poetry. there was no need for that at all, make it dramatic, make it emotional, but dont copy black people, seriously, poetry is for all races

  • @raven66614 this is her style..rapping isn't just for one race..

  • Nice rhymes.

  • if 2pac was alive he would of been really impressed by her.

  • @CarlPanzram7390 dont even compare that trash rapper to otep.

  • @retribute434 He aint no trash rapper. He wrote poetry about REAL LIFE. I bet you my bottom dollar Otep is influenced by 2pac's lyrics because it was poetic and strong. You want trash rappers here a couple: Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, Drake, Flo Rida, I can go on forever.

  • @CarlPanzram7390 I totally agree with you. I wouldnt say shes influenced by 2pac. knowing her, her main influence would probably be some underground woman rapper. i mean she is L.A. and all. Besides, spoken word poetree's pretty much what made rap in the first place.

  • @CarlPanzram7390

I think you need to re-asses Lil' Wayne's music. I will admit that a lot of his songs are egotistical and just unnecessary but he does write deep music.

    If your actually going to take my advice I suggest listening to ;

Tie My Hands, Drop The World, Good Girl Gone Bad, etc.

  • @KittieKatastrophie I think Lil Wayne's music was good before he got famous. But his fame and popularity really shuns me away from even listening to him. Besides, Eminem was good before too. Eminem is still a strong lyricist but I don't feel him anymore the way I did when Slim and Marsh LP came out.

  • @CarlPanzram7390

Otep herself has said that Tupac is one of her biggest inspirations.

  • @CarlPanzram7390 2pac IS alive!!!!

  • This is about what I would expect from a nu-metal singer

  • @enmity666 hurr, hurr. let me get that for you, what you meant to say was: I'm a gigantic faggot, someone please put cocks on in my mouth.----------------

    You're welcome.

  • what she is saying is so true i love it its so true shes good love it

  • just seen them last night. I love how powerful she is with the was she speaks between songs.

  • that is asome though its a sad store

    i love otep

    i can't wait 2 c them in concert!

    any1 else seeing them?

  • that baby she was talk in about was her

  • my faviort female metal sanger

  • Oh My Goth, Otep, i love you!!! she is amazing

  • that was moving...otep, u are incredible, and ur music's amazing as well

  • @charlesdryden16 i bet u couldnt do this post video c if u could do better otep ownz if u dont like it then dont watch their videos siple as that

  • @charlesdryden16 You are terrible

  • how can you even say that? do you know of their message? do you know what they fight for? do you know anything about them? obviously, you don't. and i feel sorry for you because of that.

  • @charlesdryden16 Poor of you

  • wow....deep. Otep is quite amazing.

  • her poems are great storys shes pretty

  • how old is dis kid????

  • "But I SURVIVED..." THANK GOD!!!!

Oh & when it says 'Barely 3 months alive.' did it mean 3 months in the mommys belly or 3 months born??

  • she was referring to being barely 3 months alive in her mothers belly.

  • i love otep

  • Wow.. Does anyone know her views on abortion? ._.

  • I fucking love her. She is unapologetic in her truth and her anger. This makes many, particularly men, uncomfortable. I find it refreshing as hell.

  • @BellaxStrega her poetry refreshing or that she makes men uncomfortable refreshing as well? I don't see why it would make men more uncomfortable than women. It is a wonderful piece of poetry. It's rare that people find poet's who are so intense.

  • @lmayo003 the fact that she embraces her anger and expresses it without apology is what I find refreshing. Are you a man or a woman? As a woman, I can tell you from experience that many men find anger from a woman very uncomfortable to deal with and/or acknowledge.

  • aha!! dont be hatin on otep people!! she is a kik ass poet!! i fukin LUVVV her!!! she is soo effin inspiring!!!!

  • But hey, they can express their thoughts..but WAY..Otep is baddass and shamaya is a amaaaaazzzzING poet for real.

  • letting go doesn't mean ignoring or forgetting.

by living it thru poetry and music, it can reach out to others, and tell them they arent alone.

  • i have mixed feelings. she is troubled (arent we all a bit), yet she keeps on. i can relate but still feel like she should learn to let go. we all need to let go of hate, fear, anger, judgement. however, i realized a long time ago that you cant hold onto hate...it will consume you!

  • Comment removed

  • i have no words thats how awsome this poem is!

  • beautiful. that was amazing. Its truely inspirational.

  • the first part is off the song Run For Cover on Smash the Control Machine, just thought i would point that out

Shamaya is so lyrically gifted, she is my inspiration and I respect her art and performance highly

  • LOVE YOU SHAMAYA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cuz of her I`m not the little girl i was once.........not the girl that did what men told to....... now I am free to say I hate and I don`t believe in those who call them self my friends anymore...... I don`t have anyone, but I`m happy and I don`t care cuz now I know who to trust and I don`t get hurt anymore

  • *stares*

she dyes her hair? Never noticed that before.

    yes random

  • this is why i love her.

  • amazing and powerful, I like it!

  • wut an inspiration to women Otep Shamaya u r a lyrical genius

  • wow that was amazing

  • ill ignore all those demeaning comments before mine, but that video was incredible. :]

  • otep is not a metalist she is poetry fused with a demented screaming life of misery she is the shit dont fuck with that

  • i thought it wa funny wen she started hittin herself but yea why all rascism

  • this poem is so serious y would u post that? not funny dude and not fukin cool

  • amazing. simply fucking amazing. otep...she's a beast

  • @Nixta91 -.-''

  • shes fucking awesome

  • daddysangel wat ever the fuck ur name is GO TO HELL YOU RASCIST COCK SUCKN CUNT FLAP!!!!! not onlii did she go on black show, but she kicked ass wit tht poem nd her music is jus as good if not better ur jus another rascist hater tht should rot in hell

  • That was intense but yeah it was great. That goofy black dude with the dreads (to her left) in the corner is so funny though. Trying look all serious.

But on a serious note, I wonder has she ever gotten over her father because a lot of her songs and this poem revolve around that as if she has been defined by that. She is a strong woman, but I just wonder about it.

  • I'm sure there's a part of her that's still angry and hurt, but the reason she's strong is because she didn't give into him, she is who she is, she's still alive and she's a great person. I can relate because I was abused as a young child by my caretaker.

  • the black guy looks exactly like the druglord from predator 2!!!!!!!

    xDDDDDDDD LOL

  • lol.

  • all of you that says that Shamaya suck, wtf?? do you think that you could do any better than here?.. never! just fucking see how she perform. fabulous

  • this poem right here

is the the exact reason why she is my idol

why i think she is the perfect role model for young WOMYN everywhere

  • this is so powerful and strong i love it.
