this is an accurate correction that should be made to this speech. The speech is edited and there were many references to the Iraq war. The judge used no notes in the speech and most likely confused Wellstone's vote agains the Iraq war with the Patriot Act. Regardless of this detail, the main point of the speech remains correct and well stated. The Patriot Act is a disgrace to this nation and it saddens me every day that my fellow Americans could care less.

The Judge is incorrect. Senator Wellstone voted for the Patriot Act. Russ Feingold was the only Senator to vote against it and he is alive and well, OK maybe not so well after losing his Senate seat, but he is far from dead. Mary Landrieu wasn't present to vote. It passed 98-1 in the Senate. 66 members voted against it in the House not "a half-dozen." Other than that though the Judge is correct as usual.

I'm not talking about convincing the people to vote, but rather that voting is moot when elections can be completely rigged because there's no physical chain of custody with electronic voting. Votes can be digitally flipped nowadays. Read "VOTESCAM" by Ken & James Collier. If the electoral process itself is suborned, then there is no way to peacefully depose tyranny. That's when the situation that I alluded to earlier becomes unavoidable.

@FreeTheNation - There's a difference between voter fraud (one person) and election rigging (gaming the overall election). With touch-screen voting so prevalent, it is impossible to independently verify the election results and certify that they are true & accurate. The only way to insure ballot integrity is to mandate a certified paper trail that includes paper receipts for voters on each machine, & open architecture programming for the software...something that can be independently audited.

1. God and Religion are two different concepts. One can belive in a creator without subscibing to any particular religious book like the bible or the Qur'an.
