  • I remember this ad and it really shitted me up

  • Alas, their 1980's hair couldn't save them.

  • That bass in the background just creeps me out...

  • I can't understand how they filmed this in a real substation with 33kv live systems in there the electricity jumps to you to get to earth so why the electricity didn't jump yo him when he first entered I dont know

  • @UGrIImeKiidK Jason is the sensible lad, because he stays out of the substation and survives.

  • wth thats real freaking disturbing

  • This scared me shitless as a kid, more so than the other one.

  • kid needs to learn how to throw

  • Like an idiot, he tries to throw the ball but it hits the volt and he gets the shock

  • @Huddersfield1985 The dark haired kid who does not enter, the substation is called Jason and Jason is the sensibliest of the three lads.

  • Evolution in progress, please do not disturb...

  • Random subliminal bloke at 0:49

  • I think I remember seeing this when I was at school

  • @WTP2k lol me too i was trying to find this aha

  • they need to make adverts like these now but everything has gone PG D:

  • We need videos like this nowadays..... Its quite shocking that they don't. Lol.

  • Flash back (o:

  • I'm so sorry but it was hilarious when that kid with the spiky hair got burnt to a crisp!

  • @cupcakefairy87 i know right? i mean how can he not know lol

  • fucking pussy

  • I hate eletricty, now..CANDLES AND BOARD GAMES!

  • FAIL.

  • Is this a common problem in England?

  • @IamLiterallyRetarded Nigger please. That shit was 20 years ago.

  • I laughed when the big kid got charcoaled and when the little kid flew up in the air in a big cloud of smoke, hahahaha. they should make a lot more of these.

  • I wish I was young again and I was outside playing with friends ;_;

  • Remember seeing this on the telly when I was in my teens, it was an updated version of the "Play Safe" PIF with Jimmy and Amy from the 70s. As I recall it was a bridge from a longer film where the three boys were on their way to school, but decided not to break in, then later in the day Darren and Tom went back and broke in, the other boy tried to come back and stop them but arrived too late

  • @DaveDaRave1980 The other boy who does not go into the substation is called Conrad.

  • Survival of the fittest! Your stupid kids may not make it!

  • I remember this, it was so shit it hurt!

  • All those poor people who lost power because of these fucknuts and their football. :(

  • Those little bastards, thats why my power went out.

  • Evolution. :)

  • @MrNDSteinbach I sense a Darwin award!

  • I wonder if the creators got sued for perpetuating the dumb blonde myth.

  • So that's what caused that power surge! Stupid kids.

  • @TheHasaanM

No it's not. Advertisements are for 'advertising'. This isn't an ad for electiricty you know, it's a safety film.

  • @barrybrien82 The word you're looking for is, P.S.A Public Service Announcement

  • Comment removed

  • @pioneerz450

Actually don't call them that over here, so that's why I didn't use it. Also, just so you know, 'Public Service Announcement' isn't a word, it's three words.

  • .......shocking

  • LOL pwned

  • FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKK... im becoming Amish now...

  • have you got the full version?

  • happy tree friends live action version O:

  • We need videos like this nowadays. I am 18 but I can say kids younger than me are so oblivious and ads like this would probably not get shown for fear of offending people. That's the right way to do it though...like the think ad with the dead girl - yes it scared me, but it scared me into looking before I crossed the road. Fucking cotton wool parents bringing their kids up in a bubble.

  • @AprilCroftAdventurer I agree but unfortunately thses videos are not seen as politically correct which is tosh to me. Conrad the dark haired lad is the sensible lad for not going into the electrical substation.

  • @AprilCroftAdventurer

    Agreed!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I can't stop laughing at that guy's hairstyle. He looks like Freddie Starr!

  • This a is a proper good PIF. It was scary, and the way it was filmed had you thinking about it for weeks. I have no doubt these must have saved lives. Why don't we get these type of videoes now?

  • that was fucking terrible

  • no chance of kids getting through the railings nowadays - too fat

  • Lol the other day we had to watch this at school in science lol wat a co-insidence

  • Thankyou for posting this! I remember this being more graphic than the kid with the frisbee, and I was right.

  • Conra dis the sensibiliest of the three lads, he does not go into the electrical substation and get fatally electroccuted.

  • for some reason the kid with the mohawky thing on his head XD reminds me of David Bowie ^^

  • @HarryIcedTea so does the voice weirdly

  • i coould suck up any amount of electricity fromone of those stations

  • "sniff sniff" can you guys smell chicken??

  • Darren looks a bit like Zachary Ty Bryan (Brad) from Home Improvement

  • Fucking hell. I think i need to lay down for a while.

  • I remember seeing this at Crucial Crew over here in England along with a ton of others. Shit was scary, yo.

  • The Public Information Film From 1990 about that 15 year old boy went into the substation and tries to get the football, then the 16 year old girl says "Ricky" "Ricky"

15 Year Old Ricky touched the pylon and went BOOOOOOOOOOMM!

16 Year Old Girl called Kylie Shouted "Nooooooooo" 15 Year Old Ricky was killed In a substation.

The Title says Stay Away From Substations, Electricity Is Dangerous.

  • @gibsosgerbil The public information film, with the frisbee, involved Amy and her brother Jimmy playing frisbee and the frisbee flies over the fence into the substation and gets lodged on an insulator. Amy says to Jimmy go on get it, and Jimmy is daft enough to go into the substation and get a lethal electric shock silly boy.

  • I remember watching this back in the day as a kid. They showed it in the middle of M.A.S.K. and Transformers toy commercials. Kinda brutal to place that thing right in the middle. I was scared to death.

  • @MrSomeDouchebag

Omg and I remember chewing peppermint bubblegum when i saw it. Because now watching it I´m associating the taste of it with this clip. Okay, that´s kinda scary. Must have marked me more than i thought.

  • It must be great fun pretending to be dead in these public information films and you get paid a good wage for doing it. You basically do nothing except look as if you've been charred on a barbecue.

  • The older kid Darren looked like he'd already had an electric shock before he went into the substation with that hair.

  • The soundtrack to the clock in the final round of the TVS version of Catchphrase would be a great soundtrack to this video as well.

  • I can remember watching one of these in primary school, where some kids broke into one of those small urban substations inside a brick building, and one of them got electrocuted... I think it was a fairly long PIF with several different stories; it would have been about 94 or 95 when I saw it. I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I really want to see it, I bet it's a good PIF!

  • I used to love watching these at highschool during phsce

it worked but it was so cheesey and entertaining

brings back a lot of nostalgic memories

  • WOW,this video is shocking!

  • Nooooo It's a trap! watch?v=dddAi8FF3F4

  • POOR kid

  • I vaguely watching this clip or a similar one in the early nineties, I've never entered a sub station in my life, I can't see why they can't be shown to kids today, maybe a modern version with kids wearing hoodies perhaps lol!!!

  • God damn I thought the one from the 70s was violent and scary. You guys in the UK dont fucking play around!

  • Electrical Sub-station wins...

    Flawless victory...

    Fatality!

  • I remember seeing a burnt face though? It was in the 90's tough and I was six at the time =S

  • The football planned it.

  • Don`t take a chance with electricity ha ha ha ha electricity is wonderful ( do not eat stories with electricity )

  • They still show this in my high school

  • I remember this as a kid! I think they should show this on tv nowadays as at 32 I shit scared of the buzzing sound of a pylon and certainly wound go near one or any sort of power station! It worked for me then it'd work for kids now!

  • @MrBigsy1979 Yeah! I think the same about Pylons, that buzzing sound when you get close up to them scares the shit out of me even now. They have them on the moors at the back of where we live. I think its seeing these PIF's as a kid that has left a lasting effect.

  • WTF YOU CANT SHOW THIS TO KIDS

  • That's shocking! Thanks for the video

  • I can't stop laughing at this :D

  • If people go near electricity pylons or into electricity substations like Jimmy did they will end up dead and fried. There is no escaping death from electric shocks in electricity substations and electricity pylons, if people are hit by the high voltage electricity in substations or on pylons they will die and be burnt to a crisp. There is no way of surviving, high voltage electricity shocks at all. It pays to stay out of substations and away from pylons, like the plague don,t get electrocuted.

  • I have to say out of the three lads, in this video the dark haired boy Conrad is the most sensible. He has the sense to stay out of he substation, unlike the other two lad with fair hair Darren and Tom who foolishly go into the substation to get a football. Darren and Tom are very foolish and end up dead and fried, silly lads Conrad says to Tom and Darren I don't want to mess with electricity it is potentally dangerous and lethal. Darren and Tom are killed and, burnt by lethal electricity tragic

  • DARREN NOOOOOOOOOOOO! TOM NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! WHYYYYYY!

  • Comment removed

  • we watched the full length version of the programme thing at school :P

  • @cheesyf0x I've never seen the full film myself, chessyf0x, just a couple of the PIF's which derived from it, but I think it's called "Powerful Stuff".

  • WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NOT CHARLES HE DID NADA ZIP ZIPPO WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • @cheesyf0x lol me 2

  • @MisterTrimble Which Year Is The PIF: about Eletricity: Football?

  • @gibsosgerbil Look at the title again and you'll see.

  • what were the kids names?

  • at the last second U see a Pedo Grab the survivor, everybody has an unhappy ending :(

  • Stupid Bitch. I Hate You Boys. You Can't Get Married.

    GIRLS SUCK!

  • @gibsosgerbil This is nothing to joke about, this ad was trying to make people aware of the dangers of electrical substations and electricity pylons and how lethal the electricity is to the human body.

  • fuck me they knew how to scare the shit out of kids those days.

  • These PSA's used to scare me shitless as a kid. What I used to hate more was the heartbeat sound getting faster before....BAM!

Thanks for taking me down memory lane though. Man I still get goosebumps watching these.

  • I remember this one. Think I saw this at school when I was 11.

  • I remember this advert very vividly like the one, where Jimmy gets fatally electrocuted when he tries to retrieve his sister Amy's frisbee. In this advert these three lads, are called Conrad who has dark brown hair Darren with blond spiky hair and Tom with blond hair who is the smallest lad in the group. Conrad is the most sensible lad, because he uses his common sense not to go in the substation like the other two lads who end up dead. The lads who end up dead were silly to go in the substation

  • Gruesome, but effective... This really should scare kids into staying out of substations - and, come to think of it, adults trying to steal copper for their own sick gains... "That was a public information film!"

  • EEEEK!!!! I thought "Jimmy" was freaking scary, but it almost pales compared to this one. What year is this from?

  • @LuvvyDuck It's from 1989, LuvvyDuck, as shown in the title.

  • @MisterTrimble Oh yeah...I saw the date right after I asked the question. My bad.

  • @MisterTrimble Sorry, my bad. I noticed the date right after I posted.

  • In this advert with three lads, one with dark brown hair the other two with blond hair I have named the dark haired boy Conrad who has sense to keep out of the substation and not try to go and get the football. Conrad is the most sensible and wisest of the three lads, he stays alive unlike Darren and Tom who go into the substation and end up fatally electrocuted like Jimmy before them ended up trying to retrieve a frisbee . Jimmy was killed by 66,ooo volts and went out with a great big bang .

  • The two lads who went in the substation and got fried were absolutely foolish, and they lost their lives needlessly. The dark haired boy who said not to mess with electricity had good sense and he kept out of the substation and stayed alive . The big lad with blond spiky hair who went to get the football was utterly and totally foolish as was the small lad with fair hair who also finished up dead and burt by the high voltage electricity . The lad with the brown hair was the most sensible lad

  • I dont remember this one. How come he didnt trip over Jimmy's body?

  • I will just say that is 2 parts put together becuase both go to school first, then in the afternoon the Kid goes back for it he never listen to the visitor at the school who works for the electricity board the kid has his headphones on and looks at a motor bike.

  • I have seen this all the way through when I was in school Could someone please put the full thing on and if possible send me a URL and post it on my channel.

  • Jeeez, this did dig up some memories, sitting in a science classroom watching this and laughing. Ohh the 90s :-) btw, didnt this used to be longer? maybe wrong.

  • I don't show it, but i'm crying happy tears right now! THANK-YOU for posting this. It's one of the very few things i'll ALWAYS remember from when I was young :D

  • @teambaka It's my pleasure.

  • @teambaka i agree.... i remember being in junior school......

    the best kind of nostalgia...

  • I love it how the bass guitar speeds up and then stops when Darren gets himself electrocuted.

  • thats hilarious a bit of sense of humor one big sparkvgo boom

  • In my school we watched one where Benjamin Franklin went forwards in time and learnt all about electricity by seeing a dog get killed by a substation. "No Ben! Electricity can jump! Electricity can jump!" Even as an eight-year-old I was annoyed at the paradox.

  • I blame the bloody electricity board for not fixing that gap in the fence. was that not the very same gap that Jimmy slipped through 10 years previously? Power Gen probably even put that ball there on purpose.

  • @TheOpenMinded12460 Two tackles! Man, this team sucks!

  • Does anyone have the rest of this? Would love to see it...

  • This is how they should do them nowadays.

  • Comment removed

  • this scared the ever living shit out of me when i was a kid :D

  • Wow, haven't seen this one before. Good to compare it with the classic one. Thanks for posting.

  • I remember being shown this - very effective!

  • Is everyone in the U.K. morons?

  • @Clay3613 Nah just the people who lived near electrical power stations, or pylons.

  • If you ask me it was that elder blonde guy's hair that made him such a heavy conductor of electricity...

  • I saw this when I was quite little and the memory of it has haunted me till this day. =(

  • He suppose not to throw the football into substation.

  • @TheOpenMInded12460 This is fake. In the UK they call football over there is soccer.

  • @TheOpenMinded12460 Touchdown......... I can't play Halo 3 because of you two! That would probably be in the remake version.

  • @TheOpenMinded12460 Hey Luke, do you know how to destroy the shield on The Death Star? I can throw a football at the substation on The Death Star to destroy also we can throw a football in the shield generator, to destroy it too. The substation has a lot of power. Luke Nooooooooo! BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT! R2 NOOOOOOOO! (R2D2 noises) BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT! Maybe, he should have not threw the football at 5 feet away! Oops!

  • to attempt catching hold of the frisbee situated near some hanging cables and foolishly hits the cables with a racket and suffer a massive shock and topples from the tree I would greatly appreciate knowing from anybody what the proper name is of the public information movie involving these scary incidents

  • I always remember seeing this Public Information film back in my school days and it scared the living Jesus outta me had really terrible nightmares where I entered a deserted Substation and got badly electrocuted I do vividly remember several other videos like this one involving a young boy getting seriously burnt and killed by a deadly fuse box another creepy one showing a older lad climbling a pylon to retrieve a kite but falls down and finally one more showing a young girl climbling a tree

  • I remember this was on non stop when i was a nipper

  • Whose the bloke at 0:47?

If you play that bit over and over it looks like he's being bummed :D

  • @ScrewAttackEurope haha good spot. +1 internet for you.

  • @Geo2005 Bless you Sir :D

  • @Geo2005 @TheOpenMinded12460 Do what would be funny? If they remade this one, and the teenager says' don't Blake I want to play GTA VI without you causing a massive blackout!

  • @ScrewAttackEurope

Do you mean the guy with the brown hair is getting bummed?

  • It goes right through me seeing people running freely inside the substations and at 0:13, cause theyre just exposed to it, you know?

  • That used to terrify the hell out of me as a child - had nightmares about being electrocuted! I can remember watching the longer version of it at infants school (about 5 years old) and crying so much that I had to be taken out of the class. They were horrible adverts. Funny even as an adult that music still sends shivers down my spine!

  • This used to scare the shit out of me as a kid. What a pussy I was.

  • They still play this film in schools in Devon today! But its part of a bigger Story

  • I remember this one well! They showed it twice to us in primary school. Wasn't there a part of the video where some boys were messing around with a fuse box (or something) and because one of them was wearing wellies the electricity jumped him and killed his friend instead? Does anyone know of that?

  • @MatsterJonaz I remember this one, it was shortened from about 20 mins as easports says. These videos are the reason substations scare me so bloody much There was one involving a dog called smiffy dying but it wasn't this one. And in year 3 we watched a pylon warning one - so scary loads of us couldnt look :O

  • You know there is a longer version of this, it runs for 15-20 minutes and was shown in schools, they showed it to my class when I was in school.

  • @easportsbig899 Same, scared the shit out of all of us.

  • Interesting. "Play Safe" has a long version too - that's on YouTube already. That was somewhat my era.

  • yeah i remember watching that like 10yrs ago.. i tried to find it on here with no luck.. t hough i did find the play safe one which i saw in primary school

  • DARREEEEEEEEEEEENNNNN!

"a thousand volt shock killed two boys today blah blah blah be careful around sub stations"

  • Not sure if this is the one I was looking for - I do of course remember "Play Safe - Frisbee" - Jimmy compromising a spark gap, but was sure I remembered another, more recent one. It could well be this one, but is there another one with youngsters walking on top of a building in a substation and one of them getting too close to the equipment? Probably from about 1989-1992.

  • @pmr1973 ur looking at it

  • @nessnes64 Thanks - wasn't sure - thought there might have been another one, but thanks for confirming it was this one.

  • @pmr1973 The PIF with Jimmy getting fatally electrocuted, in a substation trying to retrieve AMy his sister's frisbee when Jimmy is electrocuted Amy screams Jimmy's name and is clearly shocked by the event of seeing Jimmy fatally electrocuted.

  • What about that one where the PIF ends with that kid falling down. Oh and the other one where this bloke blinds himself going fishing?

  • If you mean the one with the boy falling off the pylon, stevecooganfan, I also have it, and I'll be uploading it soon.

  • @stevecooganfan Is that the one where ther landrover drives passed in the river?

  • Christ all fucking mighty, this was even more horrific that I imagined...

  • @neondiscogod @TheOpenMinded12460 I love the part from 0:35 to 041. It's so LOL if you watch it closely!

  • "JIMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"
