  • Bowie is King. King of the Land of Stench! (I love him really)

  • sorry fans.. this backup band he's had since Reality, Heathen, even...sucksass esp after reeves gabrels left.. that colored bald bitch bass is zero talent and a distraction. Id retire to Bequia too, if i was forced to play with such a retarded lineup!

  • CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY ABOU THIS SONG!

  • The most charismatic performer in the world. I've seen him live 10 times now and that moment when he walks out on stage is....................Well it's like God has graced us with his presence. I so hope he will do another tour before he "officially" retires!!!

Failing that give us a new album PLEASE DAVID!!!

  • The best vocalist on this earth

  • great!

  • Love this version !

  • David Bowie and John Lennon

  • Love checking in on this one whenever possible !!!!!

  • I am in love with this song again, and Thank God for this!

  • Lodger is a great album IMO......

  • lodger wanst a great album but got great songs as this one, boys keep swinging and look back in anger. those three are so kind. bowie i really hope to see you live in argentina. we need real artists as you.not coldplay shit

  • That's the most under-rated voice that I know of. Listen to the power and range of those vocals. Thanks for posting.

  • Bowie is God. It's official.

  • You wouldn't believe how great this sounds cranked on my ipod with my skullcandy earpiece......simply amazing

  • Goosebumps....goosebumps....and more goosebumps.....what a voice.

  • David Bowie is a alien becouse he is too good!!!!

  • I'am still learning..and trying to live with somebody's Depression.....But I will get BYE ...

  • Always one my favourite Bowie tunes, co-written - like another of Bowie's best - "Heroes" - with all-round wonderful human being, Brian Eno.

Lovely, poised performance from David and the band.

Fact fans will be thrilled to know that this was originally the B-side of his 1979 hit Boys Keep Swinging. Both songs use exactly the same chord sequence - to very different effects, obviously. Nice work!

  • FANTASTIC!!!:)

  • Yes... amidst a plethora of great Bowie stuff... this has always been a favourite. Teenage Wildlife too!

  • SUPER VIVE BOWIE

  • Velly wubbery,

    excuse my English I'm Chinese

  • Wow David and Gail Ann are absolutly fantastic!

  • WHAT DOES HE SIN AT THE END ANYONE?

  • Do you mean 'sign'? That was his instruction to the band that there were 4 musical beats until the end of the song.

  • I meant, sing at the end... can't make it out

  • The last meaningful sung word is at 2 minutes 30 seconds. The repeated words ''shoo da doo da doo da' do not have any meaning, it is a simple way of providing some vocal sounds, to accompany the music until the end of the song. It provides a better effect, than just humming to the music.

  • fantastic!

  • solo espero que hayas tenido un bonito viaje.....(fishfoot)

  • There is no one in the world with this level of talent, creativity or impact. I have loved him for 35 years. I miss seeing him on TV and pray for new releases. God bless you David.

  • My God !!!! .... The Voice !!!

  • looks like he likes to sing this song very much.

Very bowiesch his voice on this version, low high and intens love Gayl too...

  • dont understand me wrong, i adore bowie and thats why it makes me really really really sad when i see him all operated and if you look at his latest appearences he doesnt look good at all but i love him and i always will no matter what!!!*1 fan

  • what a swaying modulation of voice in a soft sweet rhythm,i'm bewitched!!

  • Bowie has such a fantastic voice, so completely his own. And I would love to rummage through his closets. Can you imagine what he's got in there? I admire and love everything Bowie. By the by, what album is this song off of, its really awesome.

  • It is the opening song on Lodger from 1979. The last of the so-called Berlin trilogy (Lodger was actually recorded in Switzerland:-)) with Brian Eno. Other songs you may know from this album is DJ and Boys Keep Swinging.

  • Thank you. That was very helpful. Now all I have to do is harass the people at Best Buy until they order it for me.

  • 1st track off Lodger.Best or the Berlin trio

     IMO

  • Strepitoso !! .... come sempre !!!!

  • David you are perfect!

  • LOVELY ARMS

  • BOWIE has NEVER received long-overdue credit/critical acclaim for his prophetic and topical lyrics, proving there's just no poetic justice(hehe)sorry I couldn't resist! Although this rendition is lovely, the original vocal on Lodger just RADIATES, with a beautiful, stark, bleak, painful urgency. His entire Berlin period was lightyears ahead of its place and time...

  • true, the Berlin period was his greatest, even more so than his Ziggy Stardust/Aladdin Sane phase. I mean, those three albums Low/Heroes/Lodger and even Scary Monsters have been very avant-gard, very epic. Even today, those albums still sound fresh and invigorating, something rarely found with albums in time.

  • Marry me!

  • LOVE this version gotta love the end!!!

  • I love this song. I love the Lodger album.

  • I Love you so entensely, beautiful Man !

  • VERY POINGIENT IN THESE TIMES OF WAR

  • Lodger!

  • troppo bravo !!!! cantante, musicista interprete, .. TUTTO !!! un Mostroooo !!!

    ottimo davvero

  • Bravo, bravo, bravo , bravo !!!! troppo grande e meraviglioso !!!! Musicista, interprete, cantante, look passato e presente da urlo, ... un Mostrooooo !!!! ottimo

  • one of my favorite bowie songs right now

  • long time since I heard - agree 'underrated' spoton !

  • probably one of his most underated songs...

    love it!!!

  • Bliss

  • love it!!!

  • He truly is a starmen. Who denies that is a lier. ;-)

    Maro

  • cant get this tune out of my head!

  • Didn't like his hair on this tour. Nor his threads come to think of it. Rest was sound though.

  • Motellife his look here is eclectic & describes his great imagination & expression for art. He can pull off any look anyway. I think DB & people like him should be praised for their courage, originality & wonderful spirit. If we were all like Bowie... What a great planet this would be!!

  • Couldn't disagree with you more, my main man. Bowie looked stunning throughout the "Earthling" phase; that "robe thing" was an 18th-century British commander's cloak, complete with battle damage, but obviously lost on you. The goat was a great compliment to his classic visage. As for the tie with no sleaves, let's see your hubby pull that one off in his mid-50's. There is no "no-no" with Bowie in regards to fashion;haven't you figured that out yet?He makes up the rules, and everyone else follows.

  • I love this song. Seeing him perform it on the Reality Tour was like a dream come true. It caught me completely off-guard.

As for the wardrobe, it was fun, casual and youthful; I thought he pulled that look off very well.

And as for the Earthling tour-- he looked INCREDIBLE! God, he was sexy! I saw him up close; I was against the stage and got to touch him. He looked fantastic. Wish he'd worn that Union Jack frock coat; it was beautiful.

  • FANTASTIC.

  • sums up the futility of the human condition perfectly

  • Timeless, evergreen, a song which sums up the futility of humans inhumanity towards fellow humans.

  • beautiful bowie and beautiful song..i love this.

  • His songs have such DEEP meaning. I am pretty convinced that he is from another galaxy. A very amazing creature.

  • beautiful...one of his more overlooked songs

  • One of the most underrated songs out there. It's beautiful.

  • great (underestimated) album, lodger that is

and indeed, one of his most beautiful songs,

    i'm moved.

    (bowie+eno!)

  • the boy can sing

  • wow... i never saw or hear him performing this great song live! "look back in anger" is the only song of lodger in his regular program, but thisone is really wonderful!

  • One of his greatest songs and the recorded original version is probably the only time when Bowie actually gets really angry in a song.

  • listen to Tin Machine. "right-wing dicks in their boiler suits, picking out who to annhilate" ... I think It's No Game (pt. 1) off of Scary Monsters is pretty angry

  • As meaningful now as it was when written some 27 years ago...TIMELESS ... that's bowie...

  • beautiful song

  • Rare live outing for this great song from Lodger (apparently the same chord sequence as "Boys keep swinging" btw).

  • Excellent observation; a slowed down Boys Keep Swinging! He did that quite a bit, like Stay & John I'm Only Dancing (75) . . . and Ching-a-Ling Song & Supermen.
