  • Thank you for sharing! Just a word on the description of the techniques: I believe this is about Ryokatatori instead of Ryotedori. Enjoyed the video enormously, thanks again.

  • @20linstone, well i guess the ki aikido terms differs a little bit from aikikai aikido...glad you enjoy the old clips...

  • @20linstone thanks for corrections...

  • ai ki do the way to harmony between mind and body using ur inner energy (ki)

so there's no aikido without ki, when u just start practising aikido u can't feel the ki but with more time practising u start to feel the energy in ur movement, and for those who think that aikido is a joke i ask them to try it first, aikido is the best martial arts i ever seen, i was in kick boxing, karate, taekwondo, but when i met aikido i really found more confidence in it, cos aikido gives u more control in fight

  • @mapache11 Better to try for yourself first and then comment on your findings.

  • First of all, the aikido teaches the omission power.

I think that it is difficult for the foreigner understanding.

  • I see this is possible but the others need to be commin towards you with great speed in order for this to happen ... i don't any other possible way that u knock a person down with his force when he isn't really runnin ...

  • @SiNkurwam Most attacks are at speed but in the case of slow, it is easy to avoid the attacker by anticipating his/her intent in the spark of the moment as mahesh stated already. Try for yourself, its quite fascinating.

  • @sigmapsicharlie , yes, it is a double hand grab and the throw was being executed even before the point of contact, that s the difference between other martial arts.

  • This is a demonstration regarding techniques against a label grab. It's not meant to be against a punch, kick etc... Aikido has other techniques for those. Moreover, grabs are one of the hardest thing to deal with considering someone's strength, build and height. I'm not trying to have a go but it's worth checking out some other vids as they so the variety of techniques.

  • It says so in the description, Sherlock

  • The only thing I now when I move ( I am the uke) something is gone to happen and fast when I get closer so I have to look out very attentive to take care of myself, I never take it easy on sensei

  • yeah shanmastr, the uke was young that time, 15 years ago, so he looks subdued and respectful, the aikido style of not banging and slamming the uke is of ki- aikido of ki society. cheers ;-)

  • @maheshwarananda young...at that time..

  • @maheshwarananda dude didn't "ki" break off from Aikido after Tohei decided 2 quit? so heres the question is ki aikido still considered aikido? why does the japanese government NOT recognize "ki" aikido as an martial art but they recognize Aikikai in the 40's???

p.s. -sorry 2 revive the old horse but i am curious!

  • is this real?

  • @Bjjownsu10 no its a film..

  • really good video, I'm lucky today I seem to find quite a few video with mature people who leave good comments and understand what it is.

  • I am the uke

  • thank you Joachem, nice uke.

  • @maheshwarananda thanks

  • 1yoose what did you feel when he was applying the techniques?

  • hear the sound when I move

  • What I meant was, if you felt "energy" or constant flow, because I see you falling but I cannot tell his movement, it looks like you are being thrown by "air", that is the reason for my question.

  • yes Hirosmito, the point of contact in the spark of moment is being led and the throw happens by itself without the need of the thrower. ;-)

  • what is the different between ki aikido and aikido?

  • ki aikido, from ki no kenkyukai, was founded by Tohei sesnsei and has the system of teaching the ki principles prior to aikido techniques that s the main difference, i.e. the ki teachings.

  • But is it really Aikido without the Ki.

i.e. Ai - KI - Do? Literaly, the way of soft Ki.

I know some schools don't insist on it, but I was told you tend to get to the same mountain top anyway. (Yosheikan aikidoka start harder but get softer along the way, while Ki-oriented practitioners start with mastering the basics and move on to more efficent techniques).

Not to put down what you've just said - I just think it's a bit more complex than that.

  • yes, yvan there is no aikido with out ki. the difference is to the aikidokas preference, wether to start with the mental approach or go direct to the practical techniques. But in the end when they mature the physical approach lessens and just let the force to flow. anyway no one wants to be humped when you get older.

  • @yvanoseki i dunno about more efficient, but i think thry would stress more mental techniques first as the "ki" is what drove them from the aikikai federation when Tohei went "rouge". besides didn't o-sensei say that he could "see" the attack, slowly i see what he means, seeing the attack is very helpful

  • good video but : yoshigasaki is yoshinkan sensei ?

  • yoshigasaki sensei is shihan from ki no kenkyukai internationsal, europe. he is our sensei in ki aikido.

  • great vid man....Yoshi seems so young here!could u tell me the year? like always, wonderfull

  • this video was around fifteen years back, that was when yoshigasaki sensei is with ki no kenkyukai, japan.

  • Watch the uke...not offbalance, not being thrown, shibai.

  • i agree with you, the uke in ki aikido are usually on the move, seldom it is static as most of the humbo aikido, so it is no wonder that during the movement of the attack, stability are already gone. there is not much to do except to lead.

  • thanks for postings this. Best Regards.
