@kalargyi That's the same engine they put in the V6 Mustang. Good for about 228 lbs of torque.

i use my dads minivan and its a dodge caravan and i race honda civics and shit in it all the time and beat them and i keep up with silverados and stuff,its pretty quick,i even use it to pull stumps out of the ground and shit,lol.

@janisandrandy Depends on the mileage. If it's lasted 8 years it's either holding up well or it's at the breaking point. Not saying yours will, but Chrysler/Dodge are known for making transmissions that break down more often than Ford or GM. Also, racing a vehicle with a tranny that wasn't meant to be raced will speed up the break down.

I have a Kia Sedona and it's a piece of crap.  With the KIA ever since I bought it the engine light has been on nonstop. No matter how many times Ive brought the piece of crap in to the dealer to get it fixed they did nothing to fix the problem.

The funny thing is this thing is faster then a lot of the "souped up" Economy boxes. You know when people mod the base model of a economy box like a Cavalier or something. Those things usually run in the 9-10 second range stock and with a wing and muffler they wont run much faster then that =P

Its crazy man. When you think about it the golden years for horsepower wasnt in the 60s. I think its happening right now.

In 84 Corvettes had 240 horsepower, In 89 5.0 Mustangs had 230 horsepower,In 1997 V8 Mustangs had 260 horsepwer. Its crazy that this Kia Sedona has 250 horsepower.

We should enjoy it while it last because because by 2012 all car makers have to have a 35 mpg average comined for all their cars =(

I have an 08 Sedona, just bought it as a new leftover last month. I had to chuckle at this vid. A buddy of mine bought an 09 Toyota Sienna last week. They're close, but the Sedona has a little more oomph up top. He and I had to laugh, two die-hard gear heads comparing 0-60 times and power curves on our new minivans. Ah the joys of fatherhood!

thats the 06+, i also got a 05 and it is different, they dont use green in the 2002-2005 models. they use white backlighting

I agree John, minivans usually have more utility in an average family, but a lot of problem is people buying full size trucks and suvs because they "look better" than minivans. Kinda like preserving the self image I guess haha.

This van is good though, rides comfortably and has a decent amount of power on tap.

When gas hit $5 a gallon and people started getting rid of them it kinda of weeded out who should drive one or not.

Now that gas is $1.60 a gallon the people who snapped up all those SUVs when they were selling for nothin when dealers were giving $5000 for Escalades and $7000 for H2's must be feeling great.

I was tempted to get a Suburban,they are still in the $11000 range on average for the previous body style.

My sister has one of these vans and they do haul some ass. Although I have to disagree with you about SUVs, they aren't overrated, its just too many soccer moms drive SUVs to take their kids around in style.

A minivan could not substitute for what SUVs are really made for, hauling, heavy cargo, offroading.. too soft suspensions in minivans. Minivans are definitely sleepers though, wouldn't expect a great deal of power!

I always wondered what the appeal was in full size SUV,last year I bought a full size pick up and I can see why people like their fullsize vehicles.

That being said if you take the average family not towing a boat and driving cross country too see grandma a minivans a way better choice IMO. Last SUV I drove was a Dodge Durango and the last minivan I drove was this Sedona. Hands down the Sedona is better.

If you go offroading and tow a boat then a Big SUV is the right choice over a minivan.

The only SUVs I would pick over a minivan is a GMC Typhoon,TrailBlazer SS,Suburban or Excursion.

The first 2 are specialized SUVs and the Last 2 are the "KING" of SUvs. The Excursion is dead and because of the economy we probably wont see another Suburban redesign. Why not go all out when getting a SUV =)

If they are I dont know why they didnt put the engine in this van in the Tiburon. The Tiburon would actually be a sweet ass car if it had the power this Sedona has since it doesnt weigh 4500 pounds.

Yeah it did have a Manumatic but I didnt use it because the way I had the Camera adheasived to the wheel I couldnt see what gear I was in =P

It might of knocked sometime off though because in auto mode it looked like it was shifting a little early.

The 3.5 in the sedona/entourage don't fit into an tiburon :) also many newer computer-controlled automatics shift before redline because the system senses acceleration from a standstill, and keeps the engine at peak horsepower levels, which taper a few hundred rpms before redline. On the other hand, if you are climbing a steep hill, the transmission may shift down and allow the revs to get closer to redline than if you accelerate in a straight line.

edit: 3.8 liter :) also of note, modern automatics are typically programmed for the fastest 0-60 time possible, whether it reaches redline or not. they're tough to beat if you try shifting yourself in manumatic mode. but anythings possible, i guess.
