Jr. Walker's music still has a way with people today. I was at the mall the other week, and "Shotgun" came on from one of the stores, and a few white teenagers started dancing to it. Even when I was at the supermarket months ago, one of his tunes came on and people were singing along.
If I was there I would of been dancing. He's the greatest artist from Motown.
For a White boy like me trapped in a BS world in the 60's - his soulful sound was a beacon and inspiration.
You don't hit those high harmonics like him without playing that tenor horn every day and working at it. What an inspired and inspirational spirit he was and is. Even in death Jr. Walker is a gushing fountain of soul! Long live the spirit of Jr. Walker!
wow, junior is simply amazing on that sax, also the sound quality of this video is really good for the year it was filmed! lol thanks for posting...wish i was at this concert!
This video blows my mind, The sound is supurb. I can't immagine stumbling into Jr. Walker with all his glory live like this. Hes got the most unique sound and voice. Playing every note perfect with virtually no effort. When Steve Winwood did "Roll with it Baby" I immediately thought , I hope Jr. Walker gets some royalties. It was one of the biggest examples of musical plagarism I ever heard.
Jr had it all and more, vocal power, style, talent, energy, powerful stage presence and more than enough power to cut diamonds with that horn, a badass by all maesures and yet elegance to romance any with his silky ballads. Thank you Jr. I'm sorry I did'nt catch you live but I can take any one of your songs and blow the last 10 years of anything on the charts right down the shithole where it belongs.
Moodyjunior I love this video but it isn't working? Skipping and can't hear the great music.
Can you fix it? Thanks

JW is just amazing how he squeezes all those screaming top tones out of his horn. His live shows were like gospel revivals.
