  • umm that is not a scram jet the intake to compressor area is to small (thats why a scram jet only fires at above the speed of mach 4.5) or a least for a SCRAM jet a ram jet has totally diferent requierments

  • This was another successful day of research and testing at the Indian Development Institute Objectives Technologies Systems (IDIOTS). There are many more such experiments on the horizon of this cutting edge rocketry.

  • Fuel, Mantequilla, F-U-E-L...

  • is that for your weed? THAT is NO SCRAM JET

  • it is powered by a masala

  • what is this to accomplish ???

  • So you boil the fuel in the sleeve until it pushes itself into the combustion chamber?

  • There's 5:57 of my life I'll NEVER get back.CHIT!

  • I guess they are missing the definition for a scram-jet

  • I realize they're Indian but somehow the Kazakhstan anthem from borat was the first thing to pop in my head: "Kazakhstan industry best in world.

We invented toffee and trouser belt.

Kazakhstan’s prostitutes cleanest in the region.

    Except of course for Turkmenistan’s."

  • pretty hi tech shit there working with, LOL .love the camo paint job, that must be there top secret rocket lab

  • Sweet lookin tobacco pipe.

  • ya that's not a scramjet; scramjet stands for supersonic combustion ramjet--it doesn't even operate or function unless your incoming air is at a minimum of mach 4-5. It does NOT produce static thrust; also, you would most definitely see highly focused shock diamonds in the exhaust as the exhaust would be hypersonic; that thing in the video is more like an old torch

  • you guys should try to make jet vtol, anything vtol really but with no fans

  • Wow, what a breakthrough! Enthalmic and invicid flow characteristics are clearly supporting supersonic combustion in millisecond flow rates through the engine. What kind of gas species did your combustion create? Can you make me a cup of tea?

  • yes,that's a traditional hookah in india

  • Did they finger paint it..?

  • its a victorian telescope and coffee maker combined

  • Comment removed

  • good one, made me laugh

  • This is a freakmotherfucker engine...

  • This looks like a super awesome bong/flute hybrid. Get high as fuck and charm a few snakes while you're at it.

  • Lol it's a PROTOTYPE i think you know what that means LOL ^^

  • A scram jet needs to have air flowing through it at at least mach 2. That (dumb ass) is a weak ass pulse jet

  • This is a pulse engine not a scramjet

  • @Cannedheat24 its not worth to be pulsejet. Its just a stove.

  • this is fucking shit! you guys are a disgrace to india!

  • it cant be a scramjet, the sc stands for supersonic combustion

  • I can't even imagine how stupid the plane will look. Not to mention how fucking long it will take to start up and take off. Will it also have a hand pump on it like that blow torch? How many operators will have to hold torches on the larger version?

  • looks like my bong.

  • pechay wali peechay wali, second wali.....

  • NOT A SCRAMJET

  • i wasn't expecting something more than this stupid shit from hindustani ppl :)

  • lol. Scramjet this is not. A Ramjet is a jet which operates with no compressor: the air going down its throat acts as the compressor. But the air has to be moving at subsonic speed. SCRAMJET stands for Supersonic Combustion RAMJET. A ramjet in which the air is moving at supersonic velocities, and undergoing combustion. It blurs the line between rocket and air breathing jet. This.. This looks a lot like some sort of pulse jet. Couldn't be further from a scramjet if it had a propeller.

  • That looks a little like a pressure jet witch is a lot like a pulse jet. this needs a longer exhaust and a different intake if this is a pressure jet.

  • oooo pakistan poeples discovered the fire!!!

  • That is the biggest pile of cr@p i have seen in a long time, scramjet what ever?.

  • 4:22 sounds like a dog bark, haha

  • lol, scramjet doesnt really have an engine so to speak

  • THat's cool but how are the little Indian guys gonna hold on to the plane once they build it into a plane,

  • They are showing the principal of a scramjet. It is not a pulse jet. Scramjets do however need high velocity air to be pushed into it like when in flight for it to work properly. Some kind of compressed or high speed air would have at least given a better demonstration.

  • crapshit engine...fk u indian people

  • really scramjet my asss;;;;

    this is for kids or what;;;;

  • idiots

  • Halfwits

  • bullshit

  • I can piss with more pressure than that thing ;p... nice "jet".

  • WTF

  • this is one example why india dosnt contribute to the world

  • @ELKT90racer90 Wow! you should study a little bit about India lmao! :)

  • they obviously didnt notice that all they made was a bigger version of the antique they were using to light the damn thing. gotta say the antique worked way better and im sure lit instantly

  • that is NOT a scramjet. this is an example of the rare "scrapjet" engine.

  • like they say on my little island... HOPI MOTHAFUCKING SANKA!!!!!!!!

  • god if it took that long to make the jet even work i would might aswell walk !

  • Pretty bad - I'd never post this for others to evaluate.

  • Hope this isn't the Indian space program in action because if it is there wont be any Indians in space anytime soon.:)

  • @trevorpom LOL

  • yawn...

  • its only burning air... so really.. i believe that it is classifeid a ramjet or SCramjet

  • what are you doing......???????? WANK!

  • its indian pulsejet xd

  • if you talk alot its perhaps a good idea to subtitle the video. not alot of people here speak arabic or afghan, or whatever language you people spoke.

    Speaking english is always better.

if you coud make a scramjet (which you obviously cant) then you can atleast put a proper subtitle on the screen.

    i wasted double my time,

    well, have a nice day.

  • People oftenly tell you they wasted minutes of their life once they watched a boring, uneducating vid. This video is clearly one of those.

If you wish to upload real videos the next time you visit youtube,

-Then make sure its a valid one

-make sure that you only show that which interests us or educates us

-Make sure you make a new utube account cause youve given yourself a name here.

-try to upload technical videos that support reasonable physics.

    -your not einstein.

    have a nice day...

  • The title of this video should say: The prototype that FAILED

  • You could not toast a marshmallow with that hunk of used plumbing.

  • They reinvented a 50's stove

    There is no proper ventilation

There is only one burner in the university

The one holding the burner isn't capable of lighting it.

My kid will not go to this school

My kid will not go to this country

  • you shoud cut 4 minutes of this video

  • this is the mst ignorant an the biggest waste of time ive ever seen!

  • is this a new type of bong which burns the weed at a hypersonic speed?.

  • So you believe that hot flaming pipe is, or is capable of, producing and maintaining thrust while the flow within the "engine" is over, if not multiple times over, the speed of sound? The video would suggest no evidence to that claim.

  • at least it's good to know these tools will never be a threat! probably had to get a friend not shown to light the blow torch for them. punters!!

  • i want the torch its like a coleman lantern without the top

  • That antique torch burned so long i could smell two years later.

  • Hate to pile on, but maybe if enough people tell him THAT'S NOT A SCRAMJET, then maybe he'll have the sense to rename it. It'd make a cute hydrocarbon cracker though.

  • Why do I think that I am watching an episode of the Three Stooges.

  • Very interesting Pulsejet! How hot does the fuel need to be heated to before it fires on its own?

Looks like the fuel supply is a set amount, is it possible to add more fuel as the amount in the present system is used? Have you tried to adjust the intake length to better time the impulse?

    Very, very interesting concept!

  • I think it must have been camoflauged or something, I couldn't see it in the video XD.

  • om this isnt a engine or any of sort why would you post this and make people waster there time watching it ???????

  • sounds like a queif

  • Sorry buddy, that's not a scramjet. I dont see no windtunnel producing supersonic speed winds to feed your combustion. Unless you can throw at supersonic speeds.

  • i want 6 minutes of my life back !

  • I don't know how the engine you made is designed internally, but scram jets rely on air rushing into the chamber, forcing compression in the combustion chamber causing the propulsion. So with out that air rushing into the engine(your engine is standing still) I'm not sure how you call this a test of the design.

Given the materials your using I would recommend developing a rotating arm that you can mount the jet on or if you can find a intense blower that would be better but might be more costly.

  • I thought scramjets used lasers and stuff like that to heat op the compresser air so it expands? They are for speeds faster than the normal fuel can burn, so they dont burn any fuel anymore...

  • is this a modern vuvuzela?

  • expensive curry warmer

  • can you tell us the purpose of that thing? that is not a scram jet engine...nor a pulse....where is the thrust? there must be a thrust before it becomes an jet engine. my goodness...these people are pea brains. (karkarkar)

research more. for me that is a pipe for drugs...

  • the only thing working there is the old torch......

  • This is total bullshit!!!!

  • peice of shit, Its more like an owl imitator

  • Lawlocoust, not really a scramjet engine... Lol I need to get some marshmallows and make some smores! =D

  • gord gord

  • cool bong dude!

  • Now this is a real effing scramjet going to take shit around the world huh?!? This is just so UNDEAD (aka alive).

  • fucku indians shits

  • You'd be better off attatching that blowtorch to an aeroplane.

  • LOL 14 years EXP a scram jet it the combination of a reagular jet and ram jet. The ram jet has been around a long time simple to convergent duct and divergent ducts no moving parts but the ram air needs to be high to work hence the regular jet

  • lol could'nt even be a ramjet!

  • Do you understand the concept of a scramjet lol. I think you need to read up on what a scramjet actually is before you name the video.

  • fail. thats a pulsjet, nothing new.. the germans used this in their V2 flying bombs during ww2..

  • V1 flying bomb, The V2 was a liquid fuel rocket.

  • stupid

  • Bakwaas fail

  • More like a linear pressure jet, using superheated liquid fuel instead of propane

  • omg slap the camera man..all over the place.go pro...

  • this should be classified as a fail.

  • that blowtorch creates more thrust than that engine XD

  • what is this?sum water pistol?

  • If that were a scramjet it would go flying across the room at Mach 6+. in order for it to be clasified as a scram jet the air must be moving at atleast Mach 2 with no system to suck in the air. It isn't even a ram jet. It needs to be moving. You have built a pulse jet.

  • lol its like 3 pulses per minute X D

  • Scram Jet? Not even close, that's a pulse jet. WWII technology.

  • I love that antique blowtorch.

What you have is a version of a PULSE jet, not SCramjet or ramjet.

  • @DrMotorDude

you will be surprised at just how UN-antique that blowtorch is. It is a parafin blowtorch and what plumbers used before the readily available gas canister blowtorches of today. I remember my dad using them in the 70's

  • @TwigletWoof The design of the Nyberg torch is most definitely antique! It is MORE than 125 years old! "Modern" propane canister torches were first used in 1913, making both designs antique.

BUT, the original post describing SCramjet requires the jet to be moving very fast - IE: S-upersonic C-ombustion ramjet.

  • @DrMotorDude

Ah, you meant the actual design of the blow lamp. Yes it is very old I must admit. What made me laugh though is the shoddy way which they were warming up the engine with it. Talk about keystone cops......

  • @DrMotorDude im new to this so whats the difference between a pulsejet, ramjet and scramjet ????? please ?

  • @laxinitup62 Pulse = subsonic, burns in pulses, like the Germans did in WWII with the V1 variation on ramjet but isn't fast enough to rely on airspeed alone for compression. It sounds like a Harley Davidson motorcycle at full speed. Ramjet = jet without turbines that relies on airspeed for compression, alone. *see Rene Lorin* SCramjet = Supersonic Combustion ramjet. Very difficult to do. *see NASA X-43*

  • the sign says "only low velocity explosives allowed beyond this point"

  • nice lighter.. sucks you got to heat it up for 3 mins before you can light your joint.. durka

  • ROTFLMAO

  • scramjet my ass

  • so wheres the sonic speeds required for a scramjet to work hence its name??

  • that's a pulse engine, not a scramjet!.

  • Dirka Dirka mohamad jihad!!

  • would it not be easyer to use electric heating coils inside to provide an eaven heating instead of a blowtorch?

  • They are doing it inside...!! ali akbar!!! :) We will get an american to clean the mess..!!!

  • This doesn't look like any scramjet I've ever heard of. I thought that they required fast moving air to work properly, like they would stall under mach 2 . This engine looks more like a pulsejet, which several other videos can show you how to make out of an old jar.

  • looks like a pulse jet to me...

  • pulse jets need moving air

  • no they dont, check out:

    "big pulse-jet near 100% full throttle "

"Advanced FWE Pulse Jet Starting Tutorial "

"Pretty coolHow pulsejet engines work (and a shameless plug for my book)"

all they need is fuel once they warm up. a good pulse jet creates its own vacuum for combustion, moving or not moving.

  • Comment removed

  • @BrickMuffin that is correct a tube can be used to make a pulse jet

  • @wymike yup yup!

  • wrong.scramjets do

  • you're an idiot.

  • could be PWDjet (pulse)? Scram jets have variable air intake for compression. theres no forced induction on this and it isnt moving. so the inflow is bascially zero. I THINK you can hear the popping of the pulses failing to start properly leadin gme to think its probably a pulsejet....right?

  • its a blowtorch people...its a blowtorch. :D

  • sorry, if this was truly scramjet, how r u generating supersonic flow inside combustor, and where is the supersonic flow before it goes in the inlet?

  • prototype of scramjet

  • what the fuck

  • also if it was a scramjet you wouldnt want to be putting your camera andd face in there like you did

  • Nice Pulse Jet engine.

  • A:Looks like it dosent have any moving parts which would make it a ramjet.

B:If it is a ramjet air would have to be coming in at supersonic speeds to achieve compression.

C:A scramjet is very close to a rocket which means that it must have its own oxygen supply OTHER than the air around it.

    D:It just overall looks fake.

  • looking at the flame, i don't think it even gives much thrust at all

  • i wouldnt even call it an engine i mean it lacks its own combustion chamber its more like a flame thrower if you ask me. what a misleading title

  • I agree...

  • Typo;

I meant to type; 'an above' atmosphere engine.

I say this on behalf on everyone who hits a key too softly - as often happens - resulting in the grammar vultures who delight in pouncing on spelling and grammatical 'errors' as if it meant something, often followed by comments on the 'corrected' writer's intelligence.

You know they're out there, waiting.

Anyway, I hope the pulse engine meets with success soon, because the fuel technology is already ahead of the engine development.

  • The lighter is included only if you buy 3...

Now, the scramjet is a above atmosphere engine.

It is really a cousin to the rocket, because it is intended to fly hypersonic speeds that would not be possible in the atmosphere without melting the craft from atmospheric friction. A ramjet functions only in the atmosphere, as the flightspeed is what compresses the incoming air. The scramjet must have an oxygen supply or oxidizer, just like a rocket.

Difference is, no stages drop away.

  • interesting but i think more interesting to present ramjet engine is upload some nasa video and from this pipe make a bong (someone allready have this idea :D )

  • Afraid not... a scram jet engine is a high breed engine using an existing turbojet engine in conjunction with a ramjet. A ram jet engine needs a high volume of air forced into intake causing compression then ignition in order to sustain combustion and trust.

  • Thats pretty cool, the only problem is that unlike a scramjet it would create F.A. thrust

  • The reason behind the combustion seen in the video could have been caused by a variety of factors. By definition, ramjets are engines in which the compression of the inlet air comes from the high speed of the aircraft as oppose to a compressor like in regular jet engines. For this reason, ramjets and scramjets only operate at speeds exceeding Mach 3. Since this "engine" is stationary there is no possible way that it can be a ramjet or a scramjet.

  • I am a student at ASU Fulton School of Engineering in the aerospace program. I am not sure of the science behind the device shown, however, though it is stationary, it is emitting a flame when superheated, I do beleive that this a principal of known ramjet technology.

  • Sorry Indian dudes, have to agree with Capt on this one..... I am an aerospace engineering student at Georgia Tech and that is no where near a scramjet, not even same principle.

Personally, your better off turning it into a bong...

  • Is there a possibility it might be a weak pulse jet?

  • Yep, but still it needs some gas to work.

  • Does the lighter come with it? If so, i'm interested.

  • probably the lamest display of a jet engine ive ever seen. what a waste...

  • research the x51a if u want to know more about scramjet technology

  • ahhaha, what a bunch of Moo-Rads!!!!! WTF is that thing, and why doesnt it blow up like its supposed to...if only i undersood poonjabbi

  • who actually gives a shit

u lot need to smoke some more weed

  • listen you captain shithole, you need to learn some respect.... i am an engg student and we just did an experiment at the college level ok this is not the defence R&D lab just get that....and i am an indian not a pakistani or irani ok just get that.....

  • I studied aerospace engineering, and this is no where close to scramjet theory. You have no idea what you're talking about.

  • Why are you so angry? You shame the name of Rajarshi Shahu!

  • who r u to tell me that MF, atleast i dont post silly dinosaur toy videos...get a life dude...!!!!

  • One more thing, I live within an hours drive of one of the only facilities capable of doing actual scramjet tests.

  • @arnage85 well its a fuel gassyfier you have made. with the right internal geometry it could be a ramjet but they only functions at speeds over 800kph.

i would love to corespond with your mentor at your eng scool

  • @arnage85 If you post a video then you are asking for comments. The people (many as knowledgeable as you) have spoken. They rate your video 4 to 1 to be CRAP!

  • very pleased to inform all you geniuses that its not an actual scramjet engine, you must know that a scramjet engine works only at supersonic speeds..... the fuel used is methanol along with some additives when you heat the surface from outside and gets ignited as it comes out of the nozzle..the swooshing sound which you hear is the noise of the actual engine and the high noise which you hear eventually can be termed as scram noise...... again its not an actual SCRAMJET ENGINE......

  • But you're calling it a Scramjet Engine in the title.

It's bad enough when you see some middle eastern teenager post a US jet fighter video, and call it the latest Iranian/Pakistani/whatever fighter.

But now you can't even come up with your own low budget experiments.

  • listen you captain shithole, you need to learn some respect.... i am an engg student and we just did an experiment at the college level ok this is not the defence R&D lab just get that....and i am an indian not a pakistani or irani ok just get that.....

  • @arnage85 HAHAHA!

  • I doubt you'd be able to tell a scramjet from a drain pipe without external help anyway, so please return to where you came from and stay there.

  • Scramjet is minimum mach 5...

  • Yeah - Yeah - Yeah - that's great boys - now back to work. I'll have a pack of Luckie's and a Cherry Slushy please....

  • a very big zippo!!!

  • AH WHOOSE gointo fix my slurpee machine!

  • THAT IS NOT A SCRAMJET ENGINE!!!

  • its a bomb
