Most people claim to be able to use big weights on bicep curls for example but they keep using other muscles to help the small one and the back joints, when they lower the weight and keep everything super-still while just activating the right muscles the muscle grow better and the joints don't hurt

Scott I like your videos, but this is a chest exercise. I could easily do this exercise with a heavier weight, but isolating my triceps, there is no way I could use a heavy weight.

The bench press is naturally a compound movement. Notice his grip and how he keeps his elbows close to the body; this puts more emphasis on the triceps.
@Noc4ball Look at how engaged his pectorals are while he's doing this. While the closer grip may put MORE emphasis on the tri's than wide grip does, this is no more a tricep press than a close grip benchpress is a tricep isolating exercise.
I understand that. That's why I called it a compound exercise. Obviously the chest is going to be engaged during the movement. And I don't think anyone ever considred the close-grip bench press to be a tricep isolating movement :/ Both movements recruit the chest still. In fact, that's what Scott was aiming for. He wanted to mimic the close-grip bench press with dumbbells and a slight variation in the grip.

@javierdiaz07 It's a press so it will naturally engage the chest. I feel them a lot in my triceps though. Maybe you are going too heavy? It's the same thing with a close grip bench. If you go too heavy or don't get the form right it just becomes a standard press. I'm not hating but just because you disagree doesn't make it wrong.

most of his videos are good but he doesnt mention which muscle each diffrent exercise targets! so annoying, for the beginners!

this works the chest more triceps. I guess its a good shake up to your regular chest press. try doing these in an incline ;)

@javierdiaz07 It's a press so it will naturally engage the chest. I feel them a lot in my triceps though. Maybe you are going too heavy? It's the same thing with a close grip bench. If you go too heavy or don't get the form right it just becomes a standard press. I'm not hating but just because you disagree doesn't make it wrong.
