  • The only problem I see is with his elbows dropping below the bench, which forces him to press from a significant deficit. If he could keep his upper back tight and belly-up to the bar, or bells in this case, he'd be laughing. Cool movement, though. Very Anthony Clark'esque.

  • i just tried this with an ez curl bar and the burn was damn near instantaneous. in fact nothing i've tried has made my triceps burn as fast or as intensely. nothing has even come close, even using twice the weight.

  • totally agree with comment by sexylitthug77, this exercise is rubbish. SH thinks he is king by showing all these stupid adaptions when you should be sticking with what works...and for triceps its close grip press, skull crushers, kick backs and overhead raises.

    it doesn't matter, the only reason it is cracknig your elbow it's because the joint is taking part of the job since the muscles alone won't work. Most people claim to be able to use big weights on bicep curls for example but they keep using other muscles to help the small one and the back joints, when they lower the weight and keep everything super-still while just activating the right muscles the muscle grow better and the joints don't hurt

  • @MrEstk no there isnt, if shortness runs in your family then yes the chance is yes but weight training wont. your 17 and you want to get taller, intake alot of calcium everyday dont miss a day without calcium, your growth plates are still OPEN at your age, the more calcium you get in you, the bigger and stronger the bones will become specialy at your age while you have your growth plates open, growth pates shut at the age of 25 ish

But i do agree with you on his routines he is teaching. Far too much for people who actually want to build muscle and that is the type of audience he is attracting.

  • This work more upper chest then tricep, also benching just below the chest takes all the strain of the shoulders , its great exersize but ti works more chest then tri's

  • @ripley664 if your talking about your muscles getting pumped when you work out , and you wanna keep it that way all day long.... Then i would suggest taking creatine, when you go off it, ur muscles will get a bit smaller, but WHILE your on it, you will have a 24/7 pump.... other option is just to workout everyday until your muscles look how u want em to!

  • Scott I like your videos, but this is a chest exercise. I could easily do this exercise with a heavier weight, but isolating my triceps, there is no way I could use a heavy weight.

    The guy who said try skullcrushers is right, THAT is a tricep workout.

    The bench press is naturally a compound movement. Notice his grip and how he keeps his elbows close to the body; this puts more emphasis on the triceps.

  • @Noc4ball Look at how engaged his pectorals are while he's doing this. While the closer grip may put MORE emphasis on the tri's than wide grip does, this is no more a tricep press than a close grip benchpress is a tricep isolating exercise.

    I understand that. That's why I called it a compound exercise. Obviously the chest is going to be engaged during the movement. And I don't think anyone ever considred the close-grip bench press to be a tricep isolating movement :/ Both movements recruit the chest still. In fact, that's what Scott was aiming for. He wanted to mimic the close-grip bench press with dumbbells and a slight variation in the grip.

  • this works the chest more triceps. I guess its a good shake up to your regular chest press. try doing these in an incline ;)

  • @javierdiaz07 It's a press so it will naturally engage the chest. I feel them a lot in my triceps though. Maybe you are going too heavy? It's the same thing with a close grip bench. If you go too heavy or don't get the form right it just becomes a standard press. I'm not hating but just because you disagree doesn't make it wrong.
