Had an M6 - sold it within a year of buying it. The puny 35mm (vs.120) doesn't do my art justice, the range finder system (vs.TLR) forces me to put the camera to the eye and that ruins every candid situation by alerting the subject that a picture is about to be taken and even comparing to SLR I hated the fact that the focusing only occurs in the center of the frame which made me reveal who I am taking a picture of
I will agree though these things are built well and the glass is as nice as Zeiss.
Yes - that is called 'documentary street photography', look it up. What my art is not is 'arranging things so they look pretty and sellable' like most of the 'cotton-candy' crap I see pass for art these days.
Not looking to join the fight here,...but I also photo people in the street. Sometimes I ask, sometimes not. Either way, I don't need their knowledge or permission. America is still a free nation, and I can photo anything or anyone if they can be seen from public property.
Under U.S. law, you have no reasonable right to privacy in public - this includes stores, parks, etc. or anywhere the public is allowed to enter. Inside your home or a private business is another matter.

No he should not take a verticle picture. They suck. Its more artistic to take them landscape. Vertical is for passports and schoolclasses. (In 99% of all art).
So are you arguing for portrait aspect photographs now? Make up your mind! I just think it's a fallacy to proclaim one thing technique more 'artistic' than another. It's the result that counts. Let's not fall out about it.
For what they cost, they should be able to slow time.
I just shoot with a rolleiflex and time alterations are made with strong weed.

When all around is moving, the photographer connects with the subject and freezes time.

Just plain bad. Not to mention that he should take a vertical picture of the girl on a monocycle.

Artists are supposed to break with convention. You would have been no Pre-Raphaelite.

Yes learn the rules first and then use or break them. Or you make new rules because you rule.

Well there isn't one set rule in photography......
It all depends on how you want the picture to turn out.
